Favourite anime I suppose my taste is quite evident, hahah.
(#1 top-left; #15 bottom-right)
All volumes of THE BEST THING I'VE EVER READ!!!! Trauma healing with yuri + insane writing and lovable characters
(#1 top-left; #8 bottom-right)
Favourite characters Strangely - or mayhaps not - it consists of only female characters.
(not ranked per se)
Best girls If I needed to choose waifus, which sounds rather cringe, but ah well.
For some reason, they all have twin-tails... :P
Yurine Hanazono Rize Tedeza Kagami Hiiragi
Milestones I just wanted to note these milestones at some point. (Every 100 completed shows (OVA's, movies etc. too!) and 1.000 episodes)
Favourite OSTs Having been quite touched by these, I felt the need to share them. The ones below are not ranked.
Non Non Biyori - Hidamari Michi
It has so much emotional value to me, it's absurd. For example, the instance that the first chord movement is sounding (Cmaj7 to Fm), I'm instantly taken back to the world of Non Non Biyori - or any very laid-back show in the countryside for this matter - where everything seems so simple. The girls just living their lives and we, the viewers, are experiencing their daily antics - Nattsun being who she is, annoying her mom and having fun with her friends.
I've never had any siblings, but seeing the dynamic between Natsumi and Komari just feels so fun and heartwarming to watch.
Renge messing around, also sometimes playing her recorder (I also started playing that instrument when I was around her age (6) xD), and seeing the four main characters (Renge, Hotaru, Natsumi & Komari) just go about their days makes me feel very nostalgic - just me thinking back to how my own childhood was, and that I sometimes miss just living my life to have fun and play with friends.
I'm also glad that it helps people cheer up, make them feel a connection with the characters or even letting them "experience" a childhood they never had; thank you so much for your masterpiece, Atto-sensei. Everything about your show is absolutely, indisputably perfect and I believe that the setting and feeling of said show are being captured in this one OST on another level. also covered it myself a while ago :P link
Gakkou Gurashi - We Took Each Other's Hand
I heard this ED, and I instantly recognised it as a very soothing jazz ballad, and as an aspiring Jazz pianist, I just had to listen to it more and more and more and....
You get the gist.
It really gives a bittersweet feeling to the anime that is School-Live, where young high school girls just have to cope with loss and whatnot. It really touches my heart strings, the vocals especially. "I wanna be with you again".... Man.
K-On!! - U&I
Similar to a different HTT song, U&I is the first song I could play on bass. I used tabs, because I wasn't able to hear Mio's bass that clearly. Besides that, I also wasn't good at speed, so I barely could keep up when I started. Safe to say that my fingering has become very stable over time, but I sometimes hear a nail hitting a string (I keep them short too ;-;).
Anyways, the lyrics in this song hit different and although the chord progression and melody might not be that insane, they still struck a chord within my heart (ah, the cheese).
Moving on, I own a Fender jazz bass sunburst now (almost identical to the model Mio uses) and I feel great about playing along the song! Mio technically plays a '62 jazz bass from Fender Japan if I'm correct, but I couldn't find such a vintage bass. Keeping my fingers crossed, though!
But yeah, I'm also working on band covers at the time of writing, so I can fully cover U&I on my own.
Non Non Biyori - Natsuyasumi
I needn't say more than a couple things: when you listen to this song, think about fun and good memories; perhaps your childhood - playing with friends - or at least something nostalgia-inducing for this matter.
Then keep listening and imagine yourself reliving those memories. When the climax hits at 1:14, you'll definitely see why this one is so liked by many.
K-On! - My Love is a Stapler
I rewatched K-On and HTT performed this song in episode 8, and it really took me back. Back to the time where I still wasn't sure about slice of life; about the whole cgdct genre.
But oh well, K-On really changed me - for the better or for the worst, that's wholly subjective, but what I can say is that I really changed as a musician. My first song that I could play on guitar was "Yui's solo" derived from My Love is a Stapler and well K-On inspired me to pick up more instruments, lol.
Anyways, this song takes you on a ride right off the bat with its effective and melodic guitar riff at the start.
As Mio stated: "It's a difficult riff, but she [Yui] already mastered it.", even though Yui hadn't even played for more than a year. Even though it's an anime, it doesn't mean that one cannot do great things (music-related) if they do practise enough (and occasionally eat cakes on the side xD).
So yeah, such a great inspiration for me as a musician.
Favourite games Games I daily or very often play AND ENJOY - or just find very enjoyable.

Yeah, don’t let my critique stop you from watching it. The anime is only 12 episodes long, and they go by pretty fast, so you’ll be done in no time.
Yeah, Sakamoto is the best. It’s pretty sad that the creator behind the manga passed away :( but at least she got to see another one of her works adapted into an anime before her passing. Migi & Dali has a heavier plot compared to Sakamoto, but it’s just as funny.
Now I’m even more tempted to watch DLHB, especially with the way you’re describing it for the second time. Plus, I saw that one clip where they were running late for school, and one of the boys had a full-on shawarma machine. That alone makes me want to check it out.
Haha, my bad, I guess I caught you by surprise. It’s true, I really like sex comedy anime. After watching Prison School it was just so funny with its mix of sex jokes and the ridiculous story. Now, I appreciate any manga or anime that doesn’t take the sexual aspect too seriously and just plays it off as a joke, but does it so well that it doesn’t feel half-assed. A few good ones with sex comedy elements are My Hobby is Weird, Virgin Empire, and Raw Hero, which is actually by the same creator as Prison School.
So true! As someone who watched and loved Panty & Stocking, I never expected another anime to come close to being borderline ero-anime like it, but Gushing Over Magical Girls really delivered.
My favorite character in Gushing Over Magical Girls? I really like Kiwi. She’s got this vibe where she just does whatever the fuck she wants . The way she dresses for school in her Adidas slides, how she gives off a slacker vibe but is actually good at her job, and her thing for Utena. Also, I love the way she talks all gangster in the anime.
What about you? Who’s your favorite character from the show? :)
You should definitely rewatch them ^w^ My favorite girl is nijimi, she's just so cute!! And yes I did read the manga but it's been a while and I don't remember about it much TwT I might read it again when I have enough time :3
oooh i need to get into 86. media exploring themes of fascism, war, depression, and survivors guilt told through the lens of a cute white haired anime girl? sign me up!
i've read the vns and watched the animes for both higurashi and umineko and trust me when i say the vns are literally light years ahead of the anime. goes way more in depth into everything, fleshes out the characters alot better and has so many crucial details that's cut out from the animes. i don't think ryukishi's thorough, meticulous writing can ever truly be captured through an anime adaptation unfortunately and can only really work in the medium of a visual novel.
aru and kayoko are indeed drop dead gorgeoust true true (especially in their fancy dress alts good god they look so mommy)
ty! yeah i'm open to pretty much any piece if media as long as it has good writing and endearing characters. like i'm usually not all that into mecha yet i think gurren lagann and eureka 7 are some of the greatest written works of fiction of all time.
my very first exposure to anime was actually hunter x hunter. i distinctly remember i caught my cousin watching it on animax and as soon as kurapika and chrollo showed up on screen i thought "omgg i've never seen a western cartoon character look this hot ever i have simply GOT to check this out" and well the rest is history lmfao
Linda Linda Linda and Swing Girls, I watched them a while ago, but I think you can find them on Bilibili (China’s version of YouTube) or even on YouTube. I remember watching Swing Girls there. But hey, don’t take my word for it! Both movies are really great, but so is K-On, so it’s best not to compare such works of art. :D
As for Yuri Is My Job, I never planned to watch or read it, but after seeing so many signs, I just said, "F*ck it" and ended up binging all 14 volumes in one day. I started with the anime, which honestly wasn’t great I’d give it an average rating. The story felt all over the place, especially with the drama. The manga was better, but it was way too heavy on the drama like, every chapter had some new conflict. The characters were really dense, except for one. Overall, my experience wasn’t the best.
I don’t mean to sound rude, but something about the writing style and the way the drama was handled felt a bit different from what I usually see in yuri manga written by women. Many yuri stories by female authors tend to have a more raw and emotionally in-touch style, so it made me wonder if Yuri Is My Job was the author’s first yuri manga or if they were experimenting with a different approach.
Since you enjoyed I Can’t Say No to the Lonely Girl, here are some yuri manga with a similar fluffy and cute vibe:
Our Yuri Started With Me Getting Rejected in a Dream
A Love Yet to Bloom
A Room for Two
About the Blue Star of Those Days
As a Result of a Classmate’s Obsession With Yuri, I Was Exposed as an Author!
Those are solid recommendations! Also, I’ve been meaning to watch Daily Lives of High School Boys because a lot of people say it’s similar to Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto.
My bad, I must have mixed it up. The anime looks interesting, and since you mostly watch series with all-girl casts and enjoyed this one, I might as well add it to my list. Haha :D
ABSOLUTELY! I love gushing over Magical Girl, it’s one of the funniest gag anime I’ve watched. I really enjoy anime with sex comedy jokes, and the manga is just as hilarious. It actually reminded me of another yuri gag manga called Magical Girl 201, it has a lot of bondage, just like Gushing Over Magical Girls.
Ah, if you like K-On!, you’d probably enjoy some early 2000s Japanese movies as well. Linda Linda Linda and Swing Girls come to mind, people often call them the original K-On!, even though there isn’t a huge gap between them. Haha! :D
I Can’t Say No to the Lonely Girl is a fantastic manga. I really enjoyed its simple yet engaging story. I've also watched Otherside Picnic, and it was great! I actually plan to read the manga soon, it has about 12-13 volumes, according to Baka-Updates, so that’ll definitely keep me busy. But from the way you’re describing it, the light novel and manga seem way better than the anime.
Whisper Me a Love Song is such a great manga, but unfortunately, anime adaptations of yuri series almost never do them justice. It’s honestly pretty sad. On the yuri forums I frequent, a lot of readers have expressed their disappointment, even with Yuri Is My Job!. I feel like the best yuri anime I’ve seen, like Birdie Wing, worked so well because the storyline flowed naturally, and the themes and plot were strong. I think a big reason for that is that it wasn’t a 6-12 volume manga forced into just 12 episodes. Even for Whisprer me a love song the author Takeshima Eku other work There's No Way I Can Have A Lover! *Or Maybe There Is? is getting an anime this year the manga is great but im not sure if im really looking forward to the anime.
I have plenty of yuri manga recommendations! ^v^ Just let me know what you’re into, adult romance, fantasy, high school, wholesome, whatever you like, I’ll give you a list.
I’ve watched Non Non Biyori, and it really captures that charm of youthfulness and slice-of-life. It actually reminded me of Do It Yourself!! for some reason, and I really enjoyed both.
Yeah, Saiki K. is a great one! Most of my non-anime-watcher friends have seen it and really enjoyed it. They always ask for similar recommendations afterward but I can't think of any that matches Saiki K vibe and humor.
As for Moriarty the Patriot, I haven’t seen it yet, but I think I remember watching the trailer and some clips on YouTube Shorts. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the blond man actually a woman?
Hello there, no problem! Violet Evergarden was the anime that cemented my passion for the art form around 4 years ago. It is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion!
No problem! It’s not like you’re expected to reply immediately. :)
"I actually just started the first episode without knowing it was 3D". The exact same thing happened to me, I was just scrolling through 9anime, saw the cover with the usual 2D art, and clicked on it. Turns out it was 3D, but I didn’t mind at all because the anime was really great.
Yeah, I added you because of your profile picture. I thought it was really cute, but also deep and meaningful, fitting well with the message of the anime. So, hello there, new friend! ^v^
No, I actually enjoyed the rambling! I enjoy listening to people who are passionate about anime or manga. Your enthusiasm is totally understandable, Girls Band Cry is just the best.
Coco really reminded me of Balalaika from Black Lagoon, which is probably why I took a liking to her. I really, really love strong, respected female leaders in anime who aren’t overly sexualized.
I’ll take your word for it if you say it’s good, I was planning to watch it anyway.
As for genres, I really love reading yuri manga, but I don’t watch yuri anime as much because the adaptations often don’t do the source material justice. They tend to feel lacking or watered down.
I also love watching CGDCT anime like Do It Yourself!! and Asobi Asobase. On top of that, I enjoy gag humor anime because I like turning my brain off and just laughing, shows like Panty & Stocking. And lastly, I really love anime with characters like Coco, Balalaika, and Integra from Hellsing. Those types of characters always make a show more interesting (what ever genre that is).
Looks like I’m rambling too, haha! :D What about you? What kind of genres have you been into lately?
Yes, I have watched it, and I loved it. At first, I thought I wouldn’t enjoy it because it was a 3D anime, but it ended up being one of the best I watched last year. I really liked the character designs, and the music was amazing, especially the first song in the first episode. The lyrics were deep, and the tone fit perfectly. (+v+)
I love Jormungand! The creator did a great job portraying the arms trade, the glory of warships, and the consequences that come with it, similar to Black Lagoon, though that focused more on arms dealing. I really like Koko; she’s such a strong-minded and competent woman, and she looks so cool.
I see Frieren on your favorites list! How is it? Should I watch it? I’ve heard it’s really good, and the main female lead is well-written. Plus, there’s no unnecessary fan service. I’m a bit hesitant, though, since there are only a handful of fantasy anime I actually like.
I've been doing greatt :D Passed all of my finals, so I got two weeks to relax (gamble my money in gacha games)
Nice! Hope you have fun on your break of sorts
Well, not per se on the anime/LN side... haven't done a lot except finish some shows ;-;
For the most same I did finish 2 volumes 2 days ago but one was half finished before that and the other was short (for me that is but that does not mean much I have read volumes up to the size of ~1160 pages)
One of those volumes the series was not on mal so I submitted for it to be added and it did infact get added 1 day after like nobody will use it but gotta make sure my goat Kawakami has an updated mal :)
What about you?
well other than what I typed above just been playing games even got to play some with kenji, twas a fun time I need to actually get back to grinding Light Novels tho but not going to force it, I will get back into it fully sooner or later

Same here.
I have. Koe no Katachi, Chuunibyou, Clannad and just recently Hibike Euphonium
