I appreciate your review from The Wind Rises. Just because I could be left there for soon. So I don't want to leave regret for dealing the personal stuff. So I left it to you with thanks for you hinting me. :-)
You can find a lot of anime with great dubs and they have been getting better at making them :) I love watching the old dubs and because they are older, you don't have all of the same voice actors as a lot of the FUNimation dubs :P The studio ghibli films are the best and I even have 6 of them as the limited edition steelbooks e.g. these ones http://imgur.com/a/gXVex Have you seen Yu Yu Hakusho? people say it has one of the best dubs ever made.
Criticism about your Hokuto no Ken movie review: "Taking a 100-episode series and trying to squash it all into a two-hour movie" Well that is impossible because not all those episodes were even released...
Good for those who haven't watched the series for sure. Personally i originally skipped the filler episodes but recently i wanted to add Nadia to complete list and i did have that attitude of "can't be that bad"......boy was i wrong.
I'm a completionist when it comes to watching anime. All the episodes have to be watched before I can give my final rating. Still, if they are as terrible as you say, maybe I'll skip them at first and come back to the episodes after I finish the series. Again, thank you for the warning
I have to say I really enjoyed your review for Nadia: The secret of blue water. Now I feel like I'm prepared to watch the 'bad' episodes you mentioned. Thank you!
Well to be fair, I wasn't expecting such a great review or giving such a heartfelt reply.
Anyway, no trouble. Dub performances are under appreciated these days.
I'm sure you and I could both go on for hours about it, so I'll save the list for another comment.
And thanks for agreeing. I suppose it depends on how strongly you connect and resonate with a film or series and that helps you to look past some of the lower points of it. Doing one thing above and beyond what was expected tends to eclipse some of these smaller points as well; both good and bad.
And thanks for understanding and listening to my opinion. I appreciate it.
And yes. I believe I saw the Disney dub of Castle in the Sky. Although someday I'd like to compare it to the sub and the Streamline dub. Be interesting to see an old film like its new again. Even if the dub was top-tier. I still think Muska had one of the best villain roles I've heard to date. A minimalist approach to villainy that was just shy of megalomania. It's hard to balance it on the edge of the two, which is why I tend to remember villains from series.
And that's my rant for today. Now I got to get back to exam studying.
And yes, I already had a look at your blog. Impressive. I'll read some of the other reviews later when I get the chance. Up until now I've been relying on my own opinion, Animenewsnetworks decent reviews, and a few old justdub reviews.
So that's that. Talk to you later when I can.:)
P.S. If you're willing to give a few recommendations I'd be more than happy to look at them. Just check my completed list beforehand. Later.
