Remember that time when everyone summoned some historical hero figures and trying to kill each other in Fate series? Guess what? You don't need to remember all of those tragedies, betrayals, and deaths because Shirou Emiya now dedicated himself to cook special dishes for all of you! Weirdly enough, this anime released every first week in a month of 2018. So, it ended up with standard 13 episode seasonal anime count but span for the entire year of 2018. This is an adaptation of a manga that no one wanted and no one expected to come (mainly because we were expecting Heaven's Feel part adaptation)
...
but ended being very fun and interesting twist for a franchise that already too dark to begin with. Produced by the same studio who brought any other good Fate franchise adaptation, ufotable, this is Today's Menu for the Emiya Family.
This anime set in Fate/Stay Night non-canon (or so I assume) universe where everyone have summoned their servants but no one fought to the death for the Holy Grail so everything felt very peaceful and yet, it was a perfect setting for Shirou to explore his hobby of household activities specifically cooking food for anyone around him. Because of this particular activity, Shirou bonded with everyone even Lancer who supposed to be Shirou's enemy in the beginnings of Holy Grail War but ended up having a part time job in local market's fish store. Or if you want something crazier than ever, Caster, who is the major villain in the course of Unlimited Blade Works, asked for Shirou's help to teach her how to cook meals for her master. Supposedly, Shirou's cooking connects everyone from allies to enemies, making this show is quite interesting for me.
Since this is a cooking show, let's talk about Shirou's cooking instruction. Surprisingly, the instruction in this show is very easy to follow and successfully motivated me to cook just like Shirou. To proof that, I tried to cook myself a food that being presented in this show. It is Japanese home cooked Hamburger with a bit modifications from myself to accustom the ingredients those available which turned out to be delicious despite my fails at keeping it together. So, it safe to say that Shirou's instruction more or less true and you could try yourself cooking Shirou's dishes at home with instructions from this anime. Also, the dishes in this show looks very good but still have this level of modesty inside which is rare inside a cooking anime.
One thing that is uniquely I want to praise despite this anime's short run (12 minutes per episode) is the cutely and beautifully drawn animation. It made my heart fluttery and calm. Not to mention that pool and volleyball episode which I think as a show off from ufotable capability while keeping its cute animation. I mean that volleyball sequence probably the best fan service episode I have ever watched in the year of 2018 since the fan service itself came from unexpected animation of ufotable's direction.
Overall, this anime is perfect for you who want to try to cook Japanese home made food or at least motivated. The modesty inside this dish made you think that it actually easy to cook the dishes. And the calming animation will definitely make you stay just to enjoy lunch or dinner with Emiya family.

I love playing Role Playing Games especially if the RPG set in medieval age with dungeon crawling and flying wild dragons everywhere. Not just that, I am quite familiar with the game of Dungeons and Dragons which is a tabletop version of action-fantasy RPG. For me, Goblin Slayer is a re-imagination of Dungeons and Dragons with a very cruel Dungeon Master who loves to torture the players with little things that often overlooked by everyone. But before we started to get into the review, let's begin with my opinion about controversy that has been lingering around this anime from the very first episode.
The first episode
...
of Goblin Slayer shown a major disturbing scene of rape and Crunchyroll carelessly put it on stream without any warning, starting the controversy we know today. Since the setting of fantasy with goblins and creatures is already staple with our regular Isekai anime (even when this anime is nowhere near Isekai), people thought at first that this anime would not be that dark. So, that was where exactly the controversy begin. But, what about my opinion? While many people said it was far too edgy for an anime set in fantasy world, I think the disturbing scene is very important for Goblin Slayer's cruel world building. It is very clear that the writer wanted us to know how fearsome little goblins are, especially in huge groups and in their own nest. But the most important is they want to set a lore that there's no female goblin in this world of Goblin Slayer thus making a purpose for the goblin to attack, raze, and kidnap women and children. So, yeah. While I am still a bit disturbed, I still think the disturbing scene is important point for this series to go on.
Now, with that settled, let's talk about the story and characters. As the title suggest, Goblin Slayer revolved around the not-so-adventure of a man who always takes goblin slaying quests. His backstory is quite simple and yet, it is fitting for a story took place in fantasy world like this. The story of wanderlust caused by loss of the loved ones just like a character creation in an RPG. After all, the characters in this anime felt like a personification of Dungeons and Dragons character sheet. Not just that, Goblin Slayer is a man of few words, making him a more fitting description of RPG main protagonist. I love how he eventually ended up in a party consisted of a fairly new adventurer Priestess, a drunken Dwarf Shaman, a cocky High Elf Archer, and a cheese loving Lizard Priest. The party is drawn to him by his deed of slaying goblins, not by his persuasion as he does not talk much (to the point he received a protest from Priestess). This is extended to other people like the Sword Maiden and other adventurers in the guild.
Oh yeah, I really love how they kept the characters unnamed and how they kept it that way throughout the series. It made this feeling of anyone could step into those characters shoes. It could be me, it could be you, and it could be anyone.
My major problem in this anime probably caused by its CGI. I know very well that Goblin Slayer's character design is very much hard to redraw yet very cool and intimidating. I praise anyone who design the characters for those. But it seems the difficulties in redrawing Orcbolg makes the studio decided to utilize CGI for Goblin Slayer's movement. While good CGI models and animations could lead into beautiful animation and direction, the CGI model of Goblin Slayer felt weird as the movements of the model are far too awkward and unnatural. Not just that, the inconsistent changing between 2D and 3D makes me want to say "Makeup your mind already!" I just really hope they are going to makeup their mind in the continuation of this series.
Then, let's continue to the soundtrack. While not too remarkable or outstanding, the rocking metal soundtracks in Goblin Slayer surprisingly fit the theme very well. It made my blood boils as The Beard Cutter trying to slash here and there. Simply, the soundtracks amplified Goblin Slayer's hatred towards the goblins very well, reaching the heart of the audience. The opening sequence itself felt very fitting to the dark theme of Goblin Slayer and it accompanied by many references of Dungeons and Dragons in the animation sequence and in the song lyrics as well. Talk about the opening, I think you should check out the music video. I love the performance of that performer who tries to convey a man who literally lost his humanity. So, check them out!
Overall, a continuation of this series is probably a must do since there are still some things that we want to see like the adventure Orcbolg wanted and promised by him to the High Elf Archer. If the animators decided to fix the CGI problem whether making the CGI movements better or maybe getting rid of it, the second season probably could outmatched the first one. And so, I will look forward for the continuation!

If you don't know yet, I love reading books especially when I went home from working or anything with train and thus developing a skill of reading books while standing up in a moving train. And I am not talking about e-books, I am talking about real physical books which you acquire from a bookstore. Bookstore is probably a place I love so much that I could spent my day off there if I don't have anything else to do. Being surrounded by books feels like a heaven for me. But how about people who works there? People who have their everyday life surrounded by
...
books? Skullface Bookseller Honsa-san gave us an insight of how the bookstore works and how is it like to work on such place. Not just that, this anime gave us a working place jokes those are funny because of how relatable the jokes to our working life and so many reference jokes here and there.
What I really like about this anime is how they present some mechanism within the bookstore that might applied to the nearest bookstore. I love to get new knowledge of something I never know before and this anime presented the information with funny presentations of author's own depiction inside his head. And because this anime revolved around bookstore that specializes in manga and comic, there ought to be many reference jokes. I love this anime's reference jokes as they all well placed and played as a huge punch line for what happening in a certain scene. From censoring book publisher names to a very must be there JoJo reference, if you love reference jokes as I do, you will love this anime so much. Not just that, Honda-san everyday life as a bookstore employee is a relatable one for anyone who works as a regular employee in some retail shop. It is shown very deeply that the author must have been working there for real to manage to express those feelings to us.
While the animation is really limited, the atmosphere of this anime gave out that the animation is intentionally doing that to further make this anime interesting. I really love the character designs for this anime though. Since the author seemed want to make everyone anonymous, he depicted them by stuff that really out of my head. I think the move is very creative as it makes diversity among the characters while make the characters anonymous at the same time. Section Chief Armor's character design might be the one I love most. Since, it originates from the manga, I think it is a huge kudos for Honda-san.
Overall, this anime is a very interesting anime to watch as a quickie because one episode of this anime only span for ten minutes. And because of the short span, I think that's why Skullface Bookseller Honda-san could live up its humor as it is not overstaying its humor and comedy. Sometimes we just need short sketches to make us laugh in between our busy times, right?

Teenage years. Yes, for me, my teenage years probably my best and worst years in my life. I was a very hyperactive and tomboy girl back then so I was very much have no sense of shame but because of those personalities, I developed a huge insecurity over those years just for my early adult years trying to fix them for me. Our social life were being judged by everyone back then with parents put their highest hope for us in those years. So, yeah... Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai or Bunny Girl Senpai for short is an anime revolving around Adolescence
...
Syndrome that took the stress and insecurity of a teenager into reality, making this anime very intriguing and yet, relatable for us.
The concept of Adolescence Syndrome is actually pretty simple. Think of some teenage problem that would come out of your brain and try to convey it into reality. But what makes Bunny Girl Senpai special is this anime made the explanation of these Adolescence Syndrome occurrences with more scientific explanations and a certain depth of lore or history behind those. I don't know why but I love that concept which made the show smarter from a simple premise of teenage problems. And because they were teenagers, adults often said they were just a bigger version of kids so the adults sometimes would not believe what they said including the occurrences of Adolescence Syndrome. This made teenagers must deal with Adolescence Syndrome by their own and that's partly why Sakuta is a great character.
In my opinion, the center of great character development of this anime came out from Sakuta. While still being himself, The Rascal wants to help anyone who developed Adolescence Syndrome just like Shoko-san did to him. He was driven by kindness offered by someone who actually believed in him but still retained his basic personality trait that is a rascal. He spoke out his perverted thoughts or everything in his mind bluntly but that's why Sakuta becoming a lovable character. He seemed like not hiding anything and made everyone around him love to share their problem with him. He is the kind of guy I really want to share my thoughts with. And while he is dubbed as a rascal, he is actually have a huge commitment in relationship. He even turned a girl down properly because his feelings towards Mai-san won't change even after that painfully repeated days *a sudden memory of eight repeated episodes came in*. He is an embodiment of how a harem light novel protagonist should act while facing so many girls at the same time. His commitment is one of a kind and I love him for that.
Not just that, I would like to say that Sakuta and Mai-san's relationship development could be the cutest and most natural romance development in this season and probably in this year. They were actually acting step by step and in a perfect pace. Those made every moment of their relationship development cute and made me squirm every time they showed some kind of small development.
How about the animation? I really like this anime's animation as I could see how much the animator poured their love in animating into this anime. What I really love about their animation is how they animate the expression of each characters which could make my heart skip a beat every time Mai-san blushes. With the addition of beautiful landscapes for the background, this anime is certainly a very good looking anime. As the first solo start for now standalone studio, CloverWorks who previously a sub-studio of A-1 Pictures, they certainly wanted to make their portfolio as good as possible with a very great debut that is Bunny Girl Senpai. Looking by how beautiful their animation is, I really could trust Cloverworks for adapting more anime in the future and really look forward for their future projects. Truly, a great way to start a reputation.
Then, let's talk about this anime's music and soundtrack. This anime has a huge advantage with the catchiest opening of this season with the song "Kimi no Sei" performed by the peggies. The song is ultimately catchy that every time the song begin, I know that you can't stop singing "kimi no sei... kimi no sei... kimi no sei de... watashi... UUUHHH..." and I think most of you unconsciously read that line with the song played inside your head. I guarantee that you would not want to skip the opening of this anime every time you watch an episode as this opening begin to seep into your head and keep repeating inside your head.
Overall, this anime has won many hearts including mine. Maybe, since this anime is already prepping itself for a movie sequel, the ending felt a little bit off but that's okay! We know that the movie is already on production and I really can't wait for the movie to solve one big question that surfaced in the very end.

What will you do if you know that you are going to die in one year? Of course, most people definitely want to live their life to the fullest, fulfilling anything they want, going to places that is impossible to go, or maybe devoting themselves to a spiritual journey in the name of God. This anime film definitely will reminded you of death that eventually come to us whether you like it or not, how you should leave your mark in this world and how it could change other person to a better one. Having the most misleading title I have ever heard, I Want
...
To Eat Your Pancreas definitely became an inspiring anime for you to be a better person for somebody else and of course, yourself.
Just like any other anime that set on high school, the story begins with an encounter between a boy and a girl. The boy found a book that belongs to the girl who actually has a pancreas disease and will die in one year. No one knows about this fact except for her family and now, him. The girl took an interest to the boy because he did not pity her for her condition and from then, their journey to fulfill what the girl wants begin. It may sounded simple at first but the boy was not a sociable person, a complete opposite of the girl, Sakura, who was very bright, sociable, and cheerful. This is why Sakura is an important person for the boy's character development from the beginning of the movie to the very end of the movie. Sakura helped the boy to be more open by showing him good things those came out from a friendly relationship. And not just that, Sakura became an integral part for anyone else who knew her as her good friend as she was able to shape them into accepting each other. From there, let's continue to an aspect that I love about this movie.
The level of this anime's details. Yes, I noticed that this anime puts a great heart into making the details brighter and thus, made the main story better. One example of details I love is the gum guy who is the boy's and Sakura's classmate. This gum guy really love to offer the boy a gum and persistently doing so over the course of the movie. Simple, right? But the gum guy really affect how the audience judge the boy's character development by that simple move. Many times the gum guy trying to offer his gum to the boy and rejected over and over again, and for the boy to accept the gum guy offer, it showed how much the boy grown after he met and spent his time with Sakura. Eventually the gum itself signed a bloomed relationship between two people whether it is from the gum guy or others later. Not just gum, there are many details those have not mentioned here and worth to note as those are all part of how the story and plot flow.
Then, let's discuss the animation. Well, the animation itself is something expected from a feature length budget anime but there's one thing that is worth to note and that is background illustrations. The backgrounds in this movie is visually stunning as those were beautifully drawn. I just love the colors of the cherry blossoms as it resonated with Sakura's name. It made me fluttery inside like some kind of teenage girl who just spent her time with a boy she like and I think that was what Sakura's thinking while smiling in front of those blooming cherry blossoms. It successfully brought out the mood that the scene wanted to convey visually and for that, it is a huge kudos for the guys who worked on that department.
I will not say much about the soundtrack as for me, it is not remarkable but it managed to set the mood right for the scenes. Hmmm... Maybe, I would say that the opening song of this movie performed by sumika is worth to check and listen, so try to listen to them!
Overall, this anime has became a great ride for me as it has been a long time since the last time I shed my tears over watching an anime movie. It served as a perfect reminder to leave a good mark for people around you as they may changed for you or because of you. Either for better or for worst. In the end, it is your decision for how you will continue to live and what marks you will carve to this world.

First, let me make myself clear. I am never invested into any idol anime. Never. And for an idol anime managed to make me drowned into idol anime for the first time, it is a very great achievement for that anime and a proof of how good that anime concept to make me invest myself to this particular genre. This anime took a concept that seemed won't work but work anyway and made a fresh breath of air into the genre of idols. So, grab your light sticks and prepare a towel to wipe away your sweats after enjoying undead girls reviving your heart with
...
their songs and stories. This is an original anime by MAPPA, this is Zombieland Saga.
Like I said before, this anime excels in dragging many audiences by its absurd yet interesting concept that is zombies becoming idols. It might be very simple if you hear it but from that alone, we could already get very interesting back stories from each of the member particularly how they ended up die. And from there, Zombieland Saga easily built character developments from how they overcome their past and keep living (ironically). This is why every member of Franchouchou has a very great character development including the one who can't speak any word, the Legendary Tae Yamada. Yes, I think Tae-chan is the embodiment of how much Franchouchou grow overtime. The other girls were the ones who taught her how to be more human and while she still could not speak until the very end, she is shown to treasure her relationship with Franchouchou by trying her best to snap Sakura just like the others.
Then the music, the most important component of the idols. I must say, I love the songs very much. I don't know why but every song they sang made this feeling of hype and happiness in my heart. It made me want to chant along their song and I think it is very important for any idol anime to make us feeling that way. Not just that, I love how every singer (or seiyuu in this case) have their own vibe of voices and made their songs colorful. From the high pitch girlish voice of Lily to the more adult voice of Yugiri. And to add more, I actually have a special love for the voice of Junko Konno in their songs. Her voice is very strong and I kinda have a soft spot for strong voices. So yeah, I am kinda Yon-Go stan.
Not just the music, I probably want to make Zombieland Saga as the best opening sequence of this season. The opening sequence is very greatly animated with the song that actually very catchy. And from what we learned from JoJo's Bizzare Adventure, opening with sound effects are better and Zombieland Saga used that fact made the opening unskipable.
But yeah, from all of that goodness, I must say that the CG section which happened in every of Franchouchou idol performance could be annoying at first. But I am giving kudos for the CG animation department as their CG sequences are getting better along with the episode counts. It might saying that they are getting used to use the 3D models more and more. Aside from CG animation, the other animation is pretty good with how beautiful their backgrounds which is taken from actual Saga prefecture and redrawed beautifully and as precise as they could. I just love those comparison photos circulating in the internet.
Overall, this anime is a solid candidate for the best anime of this season (along with Bunny Girl Senpai) with its revolutionary concept in the idol anime genre. Great character developments, great musics and opening sequence, beautifully drawn backgrounds, and of course, a perfect gateaway for someone who never invested themselves into idol anime. In the end, I think Kotaro really did save Saga after all.

Imagine that you study in a haunted school that have so many supernatural beings that want you dead or something like that. And the only thing that could save you is... a very hilarious impromptu dubbed anime. Gakkou no Kaidan or more known as Ghost Stories is an anime praised not by the story, the art style, or even the soundtracks but for its impromptu hilarious dub. This anime is a very proof that being a creative person is above everything.
The story of Ghost Stories is mediocre at its best with repeating the same formula over and over again until 19 episodes. First, the episode
...
opened with a brief introduction of what the ghost of the day and what it did to its victim. Then we continue with everyday life of the gang that leads to meeting the ghost. After that, they read the mother's journal or book or whatever is that just to find it is so hard to read. Being chased or something like that and ended with some purification ritual that depends on what ghost is it. Somehow reminded me of Scooby-Doo but with real ghosts. It seemed the Japanese knew that this is a very crappy anime and said "This is a crappy anime. Just do whatever to sell this. I don't care anymore." to the Americans and somehow the Americans knew well how to make this anime very interesting : making the dub as stupid as ever.
Yes, Ghost Stories is infamous for their hilarious dub and may have the stupidest yet funnest dub in the very history of dub. The constant fourth breaking, funny dialogues, and somehow altering all of the casts background except their name. The dub does really went overboard with changing all of the casts background. There's the pervert guy, the Jewish guy, the girl who claimed being born again as a Evangelical Christian, the girl with some mood issues, and her half-retarded brother. The dub loves to referencing pop cultures and it would be great for you guys who loves this references jokes. But because the jokes that being thrown are downright very (I mean very) vulgar and borderline harsh, I know that this dub is not for anyone who easily get triggered and don't say I haven't warned you, salty bastards.
What we have to wonder is why an anime that tells a story about ghosts and their curses have an opening that is very cheerful and makes me think that this anime is a very normal slice of life anime. And don't get me start on the ending song. Why does an anime about primary school students getting chased by ghosts have an ending song that literally called "Sexy, Sexy"? Are the creators of this anime is already predicted the dub version before they even started to record the dub? Whatever the reason, it just makes the dub more hilarious than ever.
Overall, this anime's dub is a very proof that creativity could change a bad thing into a very memorable thing that still being talked until now. This anime is a pure joy of hilariousness while joking around ghosts that supposed to be scary.

Finally, I watched the only Project Itoh movie I have never seen and that was Genocidal Organ. With watching this movie, I finally could summarize some things about Project Itoh movies in general. And the truth is I am a little bit disappointed with how all of the movies turn out. Before that... Let's talk about Genocidal Organ.
The story baseline itself, in my opinion, is already interesting but from how it is executed, the interesting potential fell into boredom. In the beginning, the idea of word structures that could trigger someone to do a genocide piqued my interest as it kinda reminded me of Captain
...
America's best friend who were brainwashed with train of different words in Russian. I always knew that human's basic instinct is to survive and to survive, human could do many things from farming, hunting, working, to even do criminal things. Triggering that basic instincts could lead into many things just to ensure human's own survival. Anyway, I felt sad and disappointed by this movie as they presented the idea with pouring so much expositions and dialogues (even monologues) that left me bored halfway and really wanted to skip the talking. The theme of war is already a good set to explain everything in action not in exposition and that's another good potential being wasted just like that.
After the story, there's the character. While I know that they were trying to make us sympathize with the two soldiers bud, I can't help but not feeling any connection to both of them as they were too focused on pouring expositions than working on something else. There's the main villain, John Paul, being tainted by too many expositions and talking. It made me unfocused and bored.
So, after watching all of the Project Itoh movies, I finally know what is the main problem of these movies and that is too many exposition that is explained by long dialogues and monologues. I knew that these movies are adaptations of novels and I think this is why not all novel (or manga) could be adapted into other media and better stay in the media where it is from. And that is why too, the screenwriter should be braver to defy the original material just to deliver a more suited story for a media (just like the case with recent adaptation of Hanebado!). Not all changes are bad yet not all unchanged things are good. A good screenwriter is someone who make a balance between that and make an already present story suited for an adaptation or even make it better.
Back to Genocidal Organ, I conclude that this movie has a very great potential but wasted with clouding that potential with expositions that made me bored halfway. Should have this anime more actions, I might appreciate this anime.

There is one concept of entertainment that is easily said than done yet it is a very important concept that could bring education or learning process into a better and funner side. That concept is edutaiment. Edutaiment is a concept that merge both education and entertainment in one same media at a purpose to make learning process better and easier to be understood. Hataraku Saibou or Cells at Work! is certainly an anime that successfully bring the concept of edutaiment while keeping the two elements those are education and entertainment on point and with a high standard of accuracy. This made Hataraku Saibou is more
...
special than other show in this Summer 2018 season.
Yes, the accuracy. One thing I really wanted to praise from Hataraku Saibou is its accuracy on bringing information about cells and how they are working in our body while having those cells anthropomorphized into human men or women. There are so many doctors in YouTube proofed this right by having an explanation side by side while watching the anime. Being a stubborn person I am, I tried to proof myself the accuracy of this anime by asking help from a friend of mine who is currently studying around medical sciences since I am more like an engineering student myself and I am no expert in medical science or biology.
To keep the eligibility of the answers, I asked her one question first and let her know the connection of my question to the anime right after she finished her answer for that one question. First, I asked her to choose between three cases I took from the anime and she chose the case that took place in last two episodes that is Hemorrhagic Shock. Then I asked her to describe generally about this and she answered,
"In simple, if there's a wound in body and it is big enough that could cause bleeding, you could bleed in a huge amount of blood. That sudden blood loss would make your body got into a phase called Hemorrhagic Shock. Hemorrhagic Shock came from two different words those are Hemorrhagic for bleeding and Shock for its sudden nature. A huge amount of blood loss in a short time could make your body unstable and this short time instability could lead your body into shock and have many symptoms like fainting."
I was a bit shocked by the answer to be honest. When I asked the question, I did not expect every major point that Hataraku Saibou explained would be accurate to my friend's explanation. Hataraku Saibou described that Hemorrhagic Shock happened when the body loses massive amount of blood due to external injuries or internal bleeding and the instability in your body could leads into shock and resulting in fainting. In the anime, this instability is shown by high blood pressure and ended with no red blood cell left to transport the oxygen to whole body. After that, I asked her about how to treat this Hemorrhagic Shock and she answered,
"Blood transfusion. First, we need to stop the bleeding while transfusing new blood so the blood volume in our body come back to normal."
Yes! Even the solution for this case alone is so much on point. In Hataraku Saibou, we got to see that the body got blood transfusion hinted by how the new red blood cells look different from the original red blood cell from the body and how the new red blood cell who have very distracting eyebrows told us about their journey before their arrival. With that, I conclude that Hataraku Saibou has a huge accuracy to the real fact and that is a huge kudos to the writer of this anime or even the creator of the source material as they had done their homework to keep this edutaiment anime in a high standard of accuracy.
About the story and character, I really love how the story flows and how the characters grow. Our main character, Red Blood Cell, seemed could not stop herself from getting lost which worries Senpai Red Blood Cell and of course White Blood Cell. I love the determination of Red Blood Cell who despite her flaws, she still wanted to move forward and do her job. It really motivates me to do a better work on my real life. My favorite plot of this anime is of course the part involving Cancer cell. I love it since they successfully made me sympathize with the major villain, Cancer cell, without making him too likable. In my opinion, a good story is where you could sympathize with the villain while still wanting to root for the good guys and that is a huge kudos for the writer.
Next, we are going to the animation department. I really love the character design and art style of this anime and I really love the animation of this anime. The animation of this anime worked by the famous studio who works on JoJo's Bizzare Adventure series, David Production. And I admit they really love to brag about working JoJo since even when the drawing style of this anime is different from JoJo, they still managed to slip JoJo references to their art and animation style especially the part where the muscle bounded Effector T-Cell came out. It feels like this studio was already predicted the next thing everyone will said after this scene is "Holy sh*t, is that a motherf**king JoJo reference?" and it seemed everyone fall for do the JoJo reference. Aside from JoJo reference, the action sequences are very well animated and this anime has the most beautiful animation for the season next after Hanebado!, so this is a huge kudos for the studio.
By the way, have you check out that ending for Hataraku Saibou by ClariS? I don't know why but I felt the song is very fit from exhausting day of working and it is perfect to end an anime about cells at work. Yeah, roll credits.
Overall, this anime is a pinnacle of edutaiment concept in anime industry and I think this praise is not coming from me only. There are so many doctors or biologists or experts who praise this anime for its accuracy yet fun representation. With equally great story line, characterization, art style, and animation, this anime surely stood up above any anime in this season as this anime become a breakthrough for the community. Now, I really wish they continue this anime into a second season. Or maybe, they adapted the darker version of the manga that is Hataraku Saibou Black. Both options are still open and I will be waiting for one of them to come.
And please, guys. Stop lewding our little platelets. I mean it.

Every time I have done watching one episode of this anime, I should... No... I must wonder how many screws in my brain that had fallen off from its original place because this anime is so vulgar yet stupidly funny at the point I became more and more stupider every time I finished one episode of this anime. Asobi Asobase is becoming a very proof of one proverb that is "Don't judge book from its cover" as its innocent and beautiful art style really swayed me into its very dark yet vulgar jokes and I still like it for some reason.
While the jokes in this
...
anime are very funny in my opinion, those jokes are certainly not for everyone or maybe those with fainted hearts. Not everyone could enjoy this anime's jokes as I do and I think this point as both flaw and advantages at the same time. Asobi Asobase did not shy away from throwing vulgar and dark jokes to make this innocent looking anime funny as hell. Watching Asobi Asobase really reminded me of watching a softer and far tamer version of Family Guy. So, I must be very careful to recommend this anime to anyone. Nevertheless, kudos for the writers who successfully took off my brains screws and made me laugh stupidly while being protested by my roommate as I was laughing so loud in the middle of the night.
Psst... I love that part when Hanako accidentally sets a cafe on fire. I laughed so hard at that scene that I almost threw up. Yup. That happened.
Yeah, the Past-timer club trio are very crazy and I love how they depict each of them with crazy traits those are very stupid if you think about it but have connection to each other. We got the smart looking one who actually very bad at studying English, we got the stupid looking one who acts stupidly but actually a genius, and we got a fake foreigner who does not speak any English and have spicy armpits. I don't know why but just describing those trio, I could feel I lost one of my screw in my brain. I think that is why this anime is very funny that just describing the character would make you want to laugh.
Now let's go to the very core of this anime's deceit and that is its beautifully drawn and colored art style. For some reason, my very innocent friend loves this anime's art style and she was pretty shocked when I told what this anime about. Sorry, but I must protect her innocence or she would be drown into the same state that is me. The art style looked very soft and beautifully painted and this made a huge out of character feeling for this whole anime and I know that is the purpose of the artist : make this anime looks as innocent as ever to conceal its true identity that is cruel, dirty, and vulgar. Their constant art style changing in their animation is really good and make a huge addition to what is already funny punch line. Kudos for the studio who works on this anime production.
Then let's talk about soundtrack especially the opening and ending which both are opposite from each other. The opening is very deceiving as it is very soft and fun just like a regular slice of life anime. Those who watch the opening only would think that this anime is a regular slice of life anime with three girls as its main character. But the ending is a heavy metal song that would blow off your mind and made you bang your head all over the course of the song. This two opening and ending are very supporting the theme of deceit in this anime. In the beginning you thought it was a happy regular slice of life but the truth is this anime is full of cruel, vulgar, and dirty jokes. Kudos for anyone who brought the idea to make the ending a heavy metal song.
Overall, I would like to thank everyone who work on this anime for deceiving me into watching this anime. I really enjoyed the ride, the references to other media, the stupidity, the laser butt, the spicy armpits, and other things that I have not mentioned. Congratulations for making a proof of a proverb "don't judge book from its cover". Well, done. Oops. I think I lost my brain's screw again.
