I waited until the final episode just to write this review, hoping that this season would eventually get better and that it wasn’t as bad as people says it is, but it just didn’t happen. I’ll start by saying that I will divide the review in two parts: the first part is a brief opinion without spoilers for the fans of the first season of TPN that are doubting if the second season it’s worth to watch despite the low score, and the other part contains some spoilers to show the differences between the two seasons.

I’m pretty sure most of the fans of the first ... season of TPN, like me, fell in love with the series mainly because of the amazing ability of the show to keep suspense episode after episode with the plot twists, and other aspects like the intelligence of the kids, how well they used their individual skills and differences and the uncertainty of not knowing how it was going to end. Well, the second season has none of these elements, it is predictable from the very beginning and it went from being a serious intriguing show to a rushed generic shonen. So, get used to see power of friendship at its best, kids and demons getting along and plot twists that were always solved easily to benefit the kids.

Now the specific problems with the second season. Let’s start by saying that there are one or two episodes that are irrelevant for the story development, which is bad for a 11 episodes anime. Also, the kids are thrown into dumb situations that would never happen in the first season, like a fight with a soldier with guns and years of military training (that they won with only bows and arrows, wow!) and Ray eating at the same time with two other kids a fish they never ate or even saw before (Ray of the first season would think about the possibilities of the fish being poisonous, for example). Besides making the orphans look dumb and overpowered, this season skips a lot of relevant context of the story. For the manga readers, the most important things they skipped are the Goldy Pond arc and the apparition of Yuugo, one of the best characters. For anime onlys, you could say the important things that are skipped are details of the past of Minerva and its relation with the farms, the life of Norman at Lambda (an experimental facility), and finally, the events occurred during the very rushed end of the show.

As a die-hard fan of the first season, I highly recommend either waiting a The Promised Neverland Brotherhood or read the manga after the first season, because the second season it’s just disappointing.
