Nah, GITS 2 is a super divisive film and I totally understand why. I mean it took me a couple watches before I actually loved it and now I like it more than the original. I just love the atmosphere in that film more than anything and the final shot is one of my all time favourites. Plus the scene where Batou goes home to his dog... I once wrote an essay about that scene for a class at my Uni (I studied Screenwriting) so yeah, my obsession with it is real. But it is a stupidly dense and in many ways dull film. So I get it.
Ignoring things is definitely tough. A slew of new anime have just dropped with the Spring season and it's like........ give us a chance, I still haven't seen stuff like Gunbuster or Macross or Rose of Versailles!!!!
So you'd say your current top 5 anime are definitive? You wouldn't change them at any point?
Also how exactly did you compile a spreadsheet based on that?
(sorry for my slack replying, i'm currently travelling)
Episodes 9 and 12 are the definite highlights - 9 in particular wrecked me both times I watched it. A beautiful, nuanced emotional climax which was not overdone yet somehow so powerful and felt like a culmination of so much that came before.
LOGH is great, I'm gonna rewatch that again soon. So long as there's at least one interesting show from each season then good. There's still so much from the past decades that is waiting too. I kind of want to start there. The classic 80s/early 90s cyberpunk stuff, a lot of short films to watch too.
Mind-boggling. But utterly compelling. Which is how I feel about the show in its entirety right about now. I've fallen for it hard. If I didn't have so much real life work to do I would have probably finished it by now.
I hear from episode 30 through to the end it kicks into high gear and there's a heap of payoffs, or everything that's happened so far begins to unravel?

you gonna watch anything else?
I share your sentiment in regards to the Unhelpfull option, even though I most likely benefit from it.
Also, I'll respond to your message soon. I hadn't watched much this past week so I didn't have much to say.
Expect me to hit you up mid-next week, which will be when I finally have time to finish it off.
