Hey dude, sorry I missed your last reply.
I'm only occasionally logging on to keep track of my manga progress, not really watching a lot of anime, and it's not even work or games keeping me busy, I'm again into a live action film phase, been watching a lot of Korean cinema recently —not doramas though, I mean actual storytelling.
But I guess my logins weren't sporadic enough to escape MAL's annual hacking incident. Did you catch this one?
Someone rewrote all database entries to "Lain is love. Let's all love Lain", pretty BASED if I'm to use the slang cool kids use these days.
Maybe it was me who recommended Chrono? Don't know, but I'd support the rec anyway.
My favorite is the manga, but I would suggest most people go for the anime first as the manga is quite lengthy and the anime is a pretty good adaptation considering the constrains of a small budget + early digital art.
(You are not most people, though!)
Years ago I wrote a blog post on the subject, for those who watched the anime and were considering giving the manga a try: https://fakemorisummer.wordpress.com/2017/09/08/chrono-crusade-anime-or-manga/
(don't read it before you finish one of them, lots of spoilers)
The story does differ a bit between versions, to quote myself: "Perhaps the most significant difference between the two versions is on the romantic development of Chrono and Rosette’s relationship. The anime is a “romantic romance” i.e. as a school girl would explain to you: it’s clear from the beginning that they like like each other. It’s structured that way from the beginning and you will just ride with it. The manga however, when portraying their relationship show that there’s a lot of trust and mutual care but doesn’t force/stress out the “I love you” romance. It was there all along as we all know but it progresses slowly, gradually blossoming as they face more and more hardship and heartwarming moments together. It’s only on the later volumes, through small actions here and there that they realize they cannot live without each other. "
Or, quoting the author himself: “[…] the manga and the anime are approaching the story from two different perspectives. But the themes in both are the same –the bond between Rosette and Chrono, and the idea of time running out. But the way that the anime and manga show this is different. With the anime, you have these currents of time and fate, and the challenge to see how far these personal feelings of “trust” can run through all that. At least, that’s what I believe. But I think the manga centers more on Rosette’s individual ideology, with a focus on things like how the potential strength of will she possesses can actually change her current situation.”
Considering your tastes, I guess manga is the way to go indeed :p
i've been saying for a while that i'm going to watch the Evangelion movies, but they just don't catch my attention yet, i know i will one day xd.
I had understood that Miura's assistant is finishing berserk, but I don't know if he is still making chapters.
I would like to be like you, who is more interested in books than manga xD, because the truth is that I have stopped reading books and it's hard for me to go back to them.
Yeah, exactly, the truth is that I didn't really understand evangelion, but I haven't seen the movies, so it makes sense that I don't understand it xd.
Do you buy mangas in physical? I have a couple, but I would like to buy more, if you have, tell me which manga is it?.
Strong answers XD.
For me the worst anime I've seen is killing bites, because they treat you like a child repeating all the time about what the story is about for the last 5 chapters, and as it has 12 is a lot of chapters that instead of explaining why the actions of the characters everything is an absurd fight.
True ... Elfen Lied and Magi also fall into that category.. but hey one can still hope
like the time i came across Midori Days the wright up just seemed stupid but it ended up been a good romance story.
I never thought of it that way, but yes, is just "cute gurls doing cute things", for me it is exactly as you said, I like to watch anime to feel stimulated.
What has been the worst anime you have seen so far?
I keep hoping to come across another berserk when watching old shows but no dice and for some reason most old dubs suck ... from someone that manly watches dubs that says something ..
I'm also bored with "slice of life", I still don't like them completely.
What is SOL? I don't think I know that term.
And what anime are you talking about? I can guess something like Naruto, right?
And yes, i think we have same tastes xD.
I speak Spanish :).
And I don't know about "people rude", although I feel that there are a lot of fake people, or at least that's my idea.
And about Disturbed i like so much the album "Ayslum", but if i have to pick one song, i have to say is "Another Way To Die", cause is was the song that made me love Disturbed.
Wow, it's very interesting your work, I'm just a student so I don't have work....for now XD.
About Fumetsu no Anata e I want to read the manga because I think it is so good the anime, but I don't have time for now :).
