So, everyone have different way of using the figures for the score, so i thought you might like to know my way.
My scale
1, 2 - N/A (Yet)
3 - Very bad
4 - Bad
5 - N/A (Yet)
6 (Average) - ChäoS;HEAd, Senki Zesshou Symphogear, story didn't make sense or just wasn't enjoyable. Cared enough about it to complete it.
7 (Interesting) - Guilty Crown, many aspects not well done (eg. Lack of character development or no explanation as why certain things happen). Perhaps tone, genre or pace of anime may not be my thing or characters didn't turn out the way I liked. Liked something about the show.
7.5 (Good) - Elemental Gelade, most of the anime was to my liking (at the time I watched it). Some parts of the plot was predictable or boring, especially near the end.
8 (Very good) - Accel World, SAO, everything was enjoyable and was to my taste, perhaps minor personal issues (eg. Plot wasn't my thing for Darker than Black). Usually controversial anime get this score.
-----Form here on there must be some very impressive elements-----
8.5 (Great) - Mirai Nikki, Madoka, everything was interesting and enjoyable, minor personal issues here.
9 (Excellent) - Death Note, everything was done perfectly (according to my tastes)
9.5 - N/A
10 (Masterpiece) - This is reserved for my favorite show
How I rate anime
In general, I use a very simple critique to determine whether to an anime above or below(or equal to) 8.
If I score something below 8 that means I have major personal issues with that anime, which are issues that directly affect my enjoyment, it could be character or plot related. It doesn't matter how much I enjoyed the show, how interesting the plot and characters are or well the story is executed it won't save its self from getting below 8, but these thing (plus things from the list below) will determine how low I rate the anime.
For an anime to get above 8 I must have been paying full attention an enjoying every minute of the episode for the entire season, that means I can't be wishing for a certain event to take place nor saying to myself "yes I get what's happening you can just skip to the next scene" but it doesn't mean I can't have minor personal issues with the anime.
Things I always consider when rating anime:
Enjoyment and how long the episode feels (unless is intentionally made to feel long eg. Noir)
Likable characters
Art (and nice action scenes)
Theme or message than it's trying to get across
Overall idea of the plot
Other's opinion about the show
Unpredictability
P.S: I don't like anime that makes people use their imagination and come up with their own interpretation of the show
In response to your question on the Wixoss forum about Yuki, there were many elements to Yuki's fading which makes it slightly confusing:
1. It began when Ulith beat Akira and gained enough wins to fulfill her cyclic wish and become an LRIG again. Ulith and Tama complete the ritual after the BATTORU.
2. The rules say that Tama should take over Urazoe Iona's body to carry out Ulith's wish, but Tama rejected the body last minute, something only she could do, since she has special powers (part of Mayu)
3. Iona's body became an empty shell since no soul was occupying it
4. Mayu stuffed the original Iona's soul back into her own body to fill the void (and probably because she didn't like Iona)
5. Iona's wish is now technically reversed (remember, her wish was to NOT have to live her life as Urazoe Iona!)
6. If an Eternal Girl cannot or refuses to fulfill the wish of her Selector, the punishment is apparently death/sickness/disappearance. Yuki/Kuro was Iona's LRIG and since she failed to maintain the wish, is punished.
(Hanayo decided not to continue Yuzuki's wish and is also affected by this rule)
Hello! I have read all your reviews and have found them quite useful, so I just wanted to say thanks. You have not written many, though. I guess its discouraging because here reviews are more often rated "not helpful" than "helpful" but I would say that most are read by people who have already watched the anime/manga and then rate them according to whether they fit their "views" or not, so... the hell with'em XD
