Hey man, I'm gonna answer a question you had about HxH, specifically does it get better after the tower part (which I'm assuming you're referring to heavens arena). And the answer is yes! Heaven's arena is the 2nd out of 7 major arcs in the show. The best one according to everyone is Chimera Ant which is the second to last arc, and my personal favorite is Greed Island which is the 4th. So you still have a lot of the show to experience! These arcs are very different from the one you're on right now, they don't just mindlessly fight opponent after opponent but instead there's a lot of world-building, new characters and plot twists.
Personally, I also thought heaven's arena was a little boring, so I understand your sentiment. They just go around fighting opponents seemingly to no end, and with no real purpose. But trust me, its necessary characterization for everything later on in the show.
So to conclude, continue on! That is if you feel like it, don't push yourself and I hope you enjoy it!
-Because you didn't read the board rules and got your thread locked about TPN vs MIB, i wasn't able to post my response so i'll post it here.-
Completely different premise, narrative, characterization, genre, and art style.
They're both at the very least good anime, but you're comparing apples and cucumbers. You could argue the merits to how good they are in those areas separately but not comparatively when looking at 'similarities'.
With that said i choose Made in Abyss, mostly because they act like actual kids and is more believable in their own story and not just because i think its better in most areas mentioned above. Seeing the stark difference in the hyper-genius 12 year olds compared to the character appropriate younger kids in TPN bothers me a lot.
