Haven't seen many of the 70s ones myself, but those 80s ones were great :)

Hi there, I personally recommend starting with the original 1979 series (https://myanimelist.net/anime/80/Kidou_Senshi_Gundam), followed by Zeta Gundam (https://myanimelist.net/anime/85/Kidou_Senshi_Zeta_Gundam), ZZ Gundam (https://myanimelist.net/anime/86/Kidou_Senshi_Gundam_ZZ) and finishing with the Char´s Counterattack movie (https://myanimelist.net/anime/87/Kidou_Senshi_Gundam__Gyakushuu_no_Char). I must say that these series are quite long, can feel outdated and at times repetitive so if you want to try something short first, you can start with Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (https://myanimelist.net/anime/82/Kidou_Senshi_Gundam_0080__Pocket_no_Naka_no_Sensou). I personally started with this series and feel in love with the franchise after watching it.

And regarding the spinoff and alternative universe series, I can definitely recommend Gundam 00 (https://myanimelist.net/anime/2581/Kidou_Senshi_Gundam_00). It´s a cool standalone series with modern animation and only has two seasons and a movie.

Well, it is a more popular way of reading since most people don't wanna read a bad scanned 90s delinquent manga but it is very crucial to understand some of the moments in GTO that you've read SJG.
You could do BC>SJG>GTO as that is the chronological way but if you check my Twitter account I've done a "better" reading order which I think suits the story better

Thanks, you also have Johan and Light on your favs so you're blessed by me. Speaking of Rikiishi, he was a character that hit me quite heavily, a truly cocky bastard yet a very inspiring one anyway!

the things i loved most about Haibane Renmei is the world it was so beautiful and wistful i was in awe for real. The emotional impact also it was just so well done and hit me like a train, so much tears. Lastly the characters i just grew immersed in them and their connections to each other!
