I'd love to hear more about the Tales series. I've never been bothered by spoilers myself. I mean, it's pretty rare that these kind of stories ever surprise me anyway.
Tales of Xillia is honestly pretty disappointing. Laughably linear, cutscenes all over the goddamn place, shallow button mashy combat and characters that are flat out lame. People say this is a good entry point to the series but I've only made it to the 2nd boss and I'm already losing motivation to continue playing. I'm thinking of just giving up on this one and trying another to see if this series is right for me. I'm seriously hoping there's something I'm just not seeing though. Oh well, that Milla figure does look good on my shelf.
Are you psychic? I just registered for that site like a week ago! I haven't done anything with it though, but I wanted to buy La Mulana because of this awesome tutorial video, but I ended up deciding to put my money to other stuff instead, such as:
-Some animu DVDs/BDs
-Tales of Xillia Collector's Edition
-Pokemon XY
-Romancing SaGa
-Valkyria Chronicles
I might get Dragon's Crown too if I feel like buying into Vanillaware hype again, but I only enjoyed GrimGrimoire out of their current library and I was never big on beat em ups to begin with.
Oh yeah, and my username on Steam is Scissors_Shrimper. If you just want to chat with me I also gots a Skype account against my will.
Not too bad, honestly. It's hard to leave at first but now I've finally been able move on to better things. And I don't just mean MAL- going outside more and getting into university has also done wonders.
Don't feel bad. I hardly play them myself nowadays and just collect fanart on Danbooru.
My favorite game is actually the 1st one believe it or not. Its clunkyness is quite frustrating at first but after you get used to it, I find it becomes an incredibly immersive trip of a game. Counting shmups exclusively, I'd have to roll with Mystic Square or Lotus Land Story.
P.S. If you ever feel like expanding your horizons try Darius Gaiden; it's ZUN's favorite game.
