Hey, long time no see.
My online presence dropped off the face of the earth there for a while.

How's work going, still pretty constant?

To answer your previous question, yes I wrestle for a promotion called the AWF, my ringname is the same as my profile name, The Shanesaw.
theshanesaw Dec 18, 2017 12:46 AM
Hey, no problem. :)
I have also been doing a bit of gaming lately, as well as watching a few things.

There are a few anime series' that aren't really popular in Japan but in the wast are really enjoyed, you would expect it to always go the other way.

HunterXHunter is definitely on my list and being so much shorter make it far more likely that I will watch it over something like Naruto.

I need to get some combustible clothing to wear to the ring when I wrestle, that would make for one hell of an entrance.

I can certainly understan dropping Durarara! as it took me a while to get around to season 3 after I watched the other seasons.
The characters were the main thing that kept me watching even if their motivations made little to no sense to me most of the time.

What games have you been playing?
I recently started playing the latest Wolfenstein.
I have heard that The Watchmen GN is pretty good but that the movie adaptation is overly long and leaves a bit to desire.
I have been watching a bit of stuff lately, I caught up on the walking Dead, watched all of Barakamon, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun and Mayo Chiki!.
The only one I didn't really like at all was Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun, the other three were pretty decent although Mayo Chiki had an annoying final episode that would have been far more enjoyable if it had been swapped with the second last episode.
Now I have started watching Attack on Titan and I am really liking it, I had been meaning to watch it for a while now.

some of the older hand drawn anime is fantastic when you think about how much effort must have gone into making everything looks so smooth, I haven't seen Cowboy Bebop but I've heard that it is highly recommended so I may check it out at some point, I don't even really know what it's about just that a lot of people in the west like it but that it didn't do so well in Japan.

I wasn't aware of that but I bet there are a lot of Naruto fans out there that are very happy that he saw that poster. 😀
Naruto's also one that I've never watched before outside of the first episode or so when my friend made me watch it but at the time I wasn't really watching any anime so I didn't really get into it I may have to check it out again at some point but it's very long so I don't know if I will get to it as I already have a bunch of long show's on my to watch list that I may also never get to. 😆

I ended up watching the second season as well as the 8 episodes that have been released for the third season and I am now addicted to the show, their clothes are highly combustible and receptive to good food but they seem to be very good about re-forming themselves for the next scene, I imagine that's what must happen when you eat food in I really really fancy restaurant but as I'm too poor to do that I wouldn't know. Haha

I'm watching season 3 of Durarara!! at the moment and then I am going to move on to season 4 it is a weird show and a bit hard to recommend but I find it engaging enough to keep going at the very least.
Have you been watching anything lately?
theshanesaw Nov 21, 2017 3:52 PM
That does not seem like very interesting TV, I think I can vaguely recall seeing something like that at some point a couple of years ago.

Akira is really awesome and it will always hold a special place in my heart, even when I was a kid and didn't properly understand the movie I still loved it.
I must get around to checking out the manga someday, I don't often read manga but sometimes I make an exception.

It was a really fun show and if you are familiar with Food Wars then you will understand what the show is like, they follow a similar format where the main character faces off against all different challengers and even the main characters are very similar.
It just doesn't have near as much fan service as Food Wars, but the reactions to eating the bread is a little more over the top even still.
I have just finished the first season of Food Wars and it was definitely the perfect show for someone craving more Yakitate! Japan.
theshanesaw Nov 19, 2017 8:24 PM
I feel bad for the people who are convinced that their item is worth way more than it is, that would suck.
I haven't seen too many as aside from Gordon's shows and the others I mentioned, they all seem to staged so that turns me off them big time.
What is Gogglebox?

Umaru-chan is my new senpai, I must learn from her in all things lazy and gluttonous.
Yes! Brooklyn 99 is hands down the funniest live action comedy on the air right now, I have been watching it as it aired since mid season 2 and I can't get enough of it.
The cast in that show is top notch, everyone is so perfect in their respective roles.

I have just finished binging Yakitate! Japan and I found it to be very enjoyable.
It is about a bakery who is trying to create a signature bread to embody japan in the same way that other countries have signature breads, such as French bread.
theshanesaw Nov 15, 2017 8:14 PM
I am really glad to hear it because I think the series is flawless and deserves all the attention it can get.
The art in that series looks like something right out of a Miyazaki movie, the backgrounds in particular are incredibly detailed and the character art is so cute for the main characters that I could just die.
When you do get around to watching it let me know if you think I'm crazy or not. :)

Yeah I would be devastated if I forgot my pillow, after a weekend in a motel I am glad to get back to my bed so a whole month would drive me mad.
Yeah when you see the kinds of stains that show up and where they show up it makes you wonder just what the hell people have been doing on that bed, and then you get a violent urge to unthink those thoughts because you know you really don't want that question answered. haha
I liked the documentary quite a bit because it gives you some insight into just why he is as aggressive about cooking as he is, and why his standards are so high.
I also have a friend that enjoys his shows as well so we binged them together, it does make the viewing experience more enjoyable, as with most things I suppose.
Nothing like disembodied swearing to get those academic juices flowing. XD

I do like American Pickers and Antiques Roadshow as I just love the cool old stuff that they find in those shows.
Pawn Stars has some really cool items as well but it is a little too staged for me to get right into it, so I only watch it very occasionally.
What about you do you watch many others?

I just binged Himouto! Umaru-chan and it is gonna bump something from my top 10 list. (at this point I will probably need a top 50 soon)
At the risk of sounding like a schoolgirl the main character Umaru is adorbz, that's right I said it adorbz, she is so cute when she is at home I could just put her in my pocket and keep her forever.
I would recommend the show if you are ever looking for a funny show to relax with.
theshanesaw Nov 14, 2017 7:51 PM
YES SIGN ME UP TO THAT LIST.
I travel to Sydney quite a bit and stay in motels fairly often so seeing the results when he whips out the black light make me very nervous when thinking about staying in them, I try to forget about it when I am there but sometimes the thought creeps in so I always at least bring my own pillow.
The Amy's Baking Company episode is a really good example of just how delusional some people can be, some of the things that couple say during that episode are just hilarious.
Another favorite of mine is the one about the burger place that is run by the Australian guy, he stole $250,000 of his sons inheritance to keep the store open, uses pre-made patties and insists that they are great just because they are made of wagyu beef and refuses to season them.
If you like seeing him lose his mind it may be worth checking out the original documentary that made him famous if you haven't already.

I will re-watch some shows if the dub is good and I loved the original subbed version as like you said it is easier to enjoy what is going on without having to read the subs.

I loved Made in Abyss so much, the basic premis is that there is a huge seemingly bottomless pit on an island somewhere and within it are all kinds of artifacts that are completely foreign to everyone on earth.
Over the last 1 or 2 thousand years a city has formed around the abyss and the are people who go down and excavate said artifacts as they can be sold for big money, the people who go down are given whistles of different colours based on how far they are qualified to go down with blue whistles being the shallow divers all the way to white being given to the elite cave divers.
The story is about the daughter of a white whistle who is missing, she is a blue whistle and one day when searching the shallow part of the abyss she finds a robot boy and long story short she goes with him to look dor her mother in the depths of the abyss.
I fell in love with the characters in this show and even though it can be very whimsical and lighthearted it also has some dark elements.
It is a mix of Sci-fi, fantasy and adventure so if it seems remotely interesting to you then I would highly recommend it.
theshanesaw Nov 14, 2017 2:43 PM
I'm the same and I may even be up to the same point that you are as I think I watched the first six seasons of the main show and the first season of Fear the Walking dead, I am gonna make an effort to catch up in the next week or so.

I am going to put Space Dandy on my TWL as it looks interesting from the synopsis, and like something that I will probably enjoy.
Thanks for the idea. :)

I haven't seen Cutthroat Kitchen before but as soon as I read the name I instantly thought of Gordon Ramsey.
This might be the biggest coincidence ever as I so rarely dream but Gordon Ramsey was actually in my dream last night, long story short he was having a party, I am so weirded out right now. -_-
I binge watched all of Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and Hotel Hell last year, I love those shows and even though like you said they are pretty much just reality TV which I don't usually watch I still go back and watch an episode or two here and there even though I have seen them all, although I may have some new ones to watch by now.
I would be screwed on Hell's Kitchen unless it was baking related.
How good is it when he just loses his mind, I can't get enough of it. haha
theshanesaw Nov 13, 2017 6:08 PM
I feel like that with a bunch of show at the moment, I need to do a lot of catching up on current TV.

Mindhunter seems like something that I might be interested in, thanks for the tip I might check it out soon. :)

I just have to wait 2 weeks for the 2nd season of Travelers to finish airing so I can binge it.

I have never sat down and watched a full episode of any Star Trek series but I have always been interested in the show, I may one day go back and watch them all although my watch list is already pretty huge so I don't know when that may be.

Same it really bugs me how far behind I have gotten but like you I just haven't felt like watching, although I have been thinking about it a lot more recently so it will probably be soon.

Do you have any other shows that you are thinking about starting soon, anime or otherwise?
theshanesaw Nov 12, 2017 7:47 PM
It's so over the top, I love it. haha

I have been meaning to get into the Dark Tower series for ages but I have been slowly moving through his other books first as there are a lot of references and shared characters between DT and his other works.
His characters definitely take a beating.

1118 was the page count on the version I read as a teenager, i still go back and listen to the audio book from time to time.
They face it when they are between 11 and 12 and it comes back 28 years later and they have to face it again.
Yeah it gets very metaphysical towards the end of the book so it would be hard to adapt, and that sex scene could never have been adapted and I think everyone including King understands that.

I loved season 1 and found season 2 to be just as enjoyable, each season I devoured in a day, but now I have to wait until season 3. :(
Yeah they created a great atmosphere for that show and it was great to go back for season 2, your lucky you waited to start it so you get twice the awesome at once.

I am slowly catching up on the Blacklist and thinking abou catching up on the last 2 seasons of the Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, I also want to start watching Westworld and season 2 of Travelers.
How about you, other than Stranger Things have you been watching anything else?
theshanesaw Nov 11, 2017 6:09 PM
Yeah, I just like what I find enjoyable and I don't like being told what I should and shouldn't like either.
When I watch the Gantz series I might have to check it out.
Ninja Scroll is the anime movie yes, I haven't seen the series yet but I mean to at some point.
NS was the second adult oriented anime that I ever saw behind Akira, and it was something I really liked.
I will definitely check out Another as it sounds quite interesting, thanks heaps for the recommendation.

Have you ever seen Mad Bull 34?
The rating on here for it is atrocious and rightfully so but I have never seen a better example of so bad it's good in anime.
It has sex, over the top violence, a ridiculously crazy interpretation of America, silly plots and a British voice voice cast pretending to be American that slowly becomes more British over the course of the 4 episodes.
If any of that sounds vaguely interesting I would highly recommend the English dub.

I wen't and saw IT very early on in it's run and really enjoyed it and you are correct about the child actors in it, they were really good.
IT is my favorite book and even though they changed a few things here and there the overall tone is still intact so I thought it was a great movie.
I also really like the old mini-series/TV movie with Tim Currie as pennywise, it was also awesome and the child actors were also really good in that one.

Speaking of great child actors have you seen Stranger Things?
theshanesaw Nov 10, 2017 6:57 PM
I thought they were pretty good, I like how it gave more insight into Chise's backstory and why she feels so out of place in the world.

I only planned to start with the original because it came first, I haven't heard much about the new on.
I am not an anime purist so if the story is good then I don't care if it has CGI in it, once I start watching something I rarely drop it unless I really hate it.

I haven't seen a whole lot of horror series's but I liked Tokyo Ghoul, Danganronpa, Ninja Scroll (movie) and Death Note (So far) and I plan to watch Attack on Titan, Helsing, Ghost Stories, Berserk, High School of the Dead, Gantz, Code Geass, Psycho Pass and Ninja Scroll the series among others.
I know they aren't all strictly horror but have horror elements to different degrees.

I usually watch subs because I want the most direct translations but I have absolutely nothing against dubs.
I usually watch dubs with my friend who isn't super into anime or if I am doing something else at the same time like playing a game.
I just finished binging the dub of the Devil is a Part-Timer this morning actually and I am watching the Death Note dub with the friend I mentioned above.
The only shows I won't watch subs first are the ones got used to as a kid, like anything Dragon Ball related as I like what I grew up with.
theshanesaw Nov 10, 2017 6:33 AM
I will watch most genres it just depends on my mood but I gravitate to Comedy, Action, Horror and also some fantasy and romance.

I am also watching Mahoutskai and I am really liking it so far, I am interested in the world they have created and hope to see it fleshed out further as the show continues, I also really like the Angelica as I think she is funny and the perfect foil for Elias.
Have you seen the 3 OVAs yet?

Gory stuff is pretty good, that's one of the reasons I like horror so much, I haven't seen either of those shows but the original series of Berserk is on my to watch list.

I am not particularly interested in fan service but it also doesn't really bother me that much, although like you said it can get a bit overbearing at times.
theshanesaw Nov 10, 2017 5:40 AM
I really had a hard time warming to Reigen as it really bothered me that he was lying to Mob, I just really hope Mob finds out the truth about him, he did show that he genuinely cares about Mob though so it went a ways to softening my opinion of him especially in the last episode.
I haven't actually listened to the opening and ending of the show as I usually skip them on most shows just for time reasons.

Yeah Dragon Ball/Z/GT/Super has so many by this point I can see why you may not have the desire to try to ingest it all, it is the same reason I haven't gotten into One Piece even though I like the sound of it.

I have Attach on Titan, Full Metal Alchemist, Psycho Pass and Steins Gate on my to watch list but I just haven't started them yet.
They all sound good for various reasons.

I wouldn't really call it a relationship but yeah it gave me a new pastime despite already having to many already. haha

I have added both of these shows to my to watch list as they both seem interesting, I just read that they have announced season 2 of inferno cop recently.
Thanks for the recommendations.
Do you have any genres you like in particular?

theshanesaw Nov 10, 2017 2:15 AM
Yeah I slept for like 4 hours when I got home, I work again Monday morning.
I was a baker a few years ago also and really enjoyed it so it is good to be back. :)
Good luck with Uni, Ihope it all works out for you.
I wasn't really cut out for higher education. haha
I figured Mob Psycho 100 would be the same as OPM but I am glad that they do their own things, I binged both of them recently and fell in love with them, now I am just im/patiently waiting for the recently announced OVA for Mob and season 2 of OPM.
I love the dynamic between Mob and his brother, it is my favorite aspect of the show and I was really happy with how it played out.
Saitamas deadpan expressions in OPM are hilarious, his face reminds me of Jerry from Rick and Morty. haha
I have heard a new studio are handling season 2 but I hope it is still just as good.

I have heard Gintama gets better as it goes along, as someone who only recently started watching a lot of anime (I watched DB/Z/GT and dabbled in others before) I will probably miss a lot of the references but that is ok if it's funny.

Tokyo Ghoul season 1 was great and although I thought season 2 was a definite step back I didn't hate it, I am still hyped for season 3.
I have started reading the Tokyo Ghoul manga and have read the first 50 chapters, I rarely get around to it but I will make my way through it eventually.

When I was a kid I saw some eps of Samurai Pizza Cats and Sailor Moon and thought it was OK but then I discovered Pokemon and DBZ both of which I watched religiously on Cheez TV, thanks to which I have seen the first 50 or so eps of DBZ like 10 times each. haha
During that time I would also see eps of Card Captor, Digimon and things like that but other that going back and watching all the way through Dragon Ball, Z and GT and watching Pokemon until it reached the Jhoto series, I only really dabbled over the years with anime.
Then a few months ago a chick I liked recommended some new anime and I realized just how many good series's there were out there.
Things didn't work out with me and her but me and anime really hit it off. :)

How about you how did you get into anime?
