Nah, pretty typical internet behavior. xD
Sorry i was curious who that might have been i was searching my history to confirm.
Have you seen that new Ghost in the Shell OVA (Arise) yet btw? Just recently released the second OVA. Pretty nice, especially during these times when I can rarely find anime I genuinely "like". Still prefer the Major for Stand Alone Complex though. Also recently finished my exams so I've got a decent amount of free time now aside from work ^_^
Moe is a very controversial topic especially on this forum, I highly suggest never bringing it up in a negative light on the public forum or you will get absolutely crucified. The main reason for this controversy is it's very loose definition, which at the end of the day could almost mean anything. Personally I see this as a way to avoid criticism (AKA avoid being called a pedo for watching a bunch of show about underaged girls frolicking around in school). Maybe I just feel this way because I actually have a younger sister and the thought of objectifying her in anyway disgusts me... but yeah just doesn't have appeal for me. Yeah I'll stop myself here before I go into a full-on rant lol.
I thought Steins;Gate was okay, I just couldn't really identify with any of the characters and was kinda confused by its dark color palette, although the later half of the show can be kinda depressing a lot of it is just SoL comedy moments. Good luck with your cosplay ^_^ I'm sure it will turn out great. Yeah, I'm sure I'll eventually fall into a pattern that I actually enjoy, its just this whole cycle of studying, exams, working etc. that makes me feel sorta burnt out.
You'll find no love for K-ON here... I couldn't even make it through the first episode, just gave up about 5 mins in. Cute girls doing cute things shows in general just don't have much appeal for me. They're obviously very popular with a lot of people considering how many of them come out each season... I just happen to be not be one of them. I actually just finished the Steins;Gate movie recently. Honestly it felt kinda average for me, wasn't exceptionally good, but not horrible either. I wasn't the biggest fan of the original series either so theres that. Also kinda random, but whats up with Mayushi's eyebrows lol?
Yeah everyone follows a different path and in life and their experiences will make them more and less sensitive to different things. The notion of escapism is definitely a very familiar one for people that watch anime. It just depends on what exactly your escaping from. In my case it would the mundane workings of every day life and the crushing sense of routine and conformity that I've gotten used to. Different people want to escape from different things though, I'd imagine people who've participated in wars and seen actual death would want to distance themselves from it as much as possible in terms of the media that they consume.
Yeah psychology is a very informative and incredibly practical subject. Although theres a lot more actual "science" involved in it than I would have guessed. Knowing how people think and trying to stay 1 or 2 steps ahead of them, while somewhat manipulative can keep you out of unfavorable situations as well help you accomplish tasks more efficiently.
Wow... I wish I was going to do something so selfless and noble. As "respectable" as the job of being a lawyer seems, there are always those that will disagree. With the current path I'm taking I'll end up being a Criminal Defense lawyer and the moral ambiguity is already there with helping potential criminals to get off scott free or with a lighter punishment. However if I can save atleast one person from getting wrongfully accused I think it would be worth it. I remember watching some documentaries in class about people spending decades in prison for crimes they didn't commit... it was honestly pretty emotional.
It's great that you have a friend from so long ago that your still so close to. I do still keep in contact with a friend from 2nd grade (so I guess we would be 7-8), though our conversations are mostly about video games and the few live-action T.V series that I follow. I miss having "big dreams" lol... I guess we all just become more grounded when we grow up, but at the cost of a little bit of our former selves. I used to wish I could direct anime back in the day lol. Yeah I've never been turned off by gore and I find it kinda strange that so many people are. What can I say people are different from eachother, it's what makes the world interesting.
I'm sorry about your experience with Harry Potter... yeah that seems like just such a terrible and random thing to do to someone. I've heard of random acts of kindness, but this is like random acts of cruelty =/. Maybe it's just cause I live in Canada and supposedly everyone is nicer here lol. Karma is a bitch though, so I'm sure he get what he deserves.
I'm currently studying Criminal Justice in my 3rd year, also minoring in Psychology. I plan to be a lawyer once I finish my program. Although keeping up the grades required is proving to be quite the struggle. Right now I'm just working as a sales associate part-time at a department store. Not a horrible job, I just wish there was less standing/walking involved, cause my feet get sore as hell after my usual 8 hour shifts -_- What about you?
GL to you and your friend watching Dangonronpa, didn't particularly enjoy that one (thought it was kinda fast-paced), but hopefully you can get through the whole thing. Yeah don't really talk to people irl about anime... or most of my hobbies honestly. I do have like 2 friends that atleast have seen some anime and know I watch it, we don't really have "discussions" about it beyond "oh this anime came out/oh I watched that anime" though.
Like I said about spoilers, a lot of people can just shrug them off and still enjoy media, but I think it's really dependent on what is being spoiled. Like I wouldn't mind if someone spoiled the ending of LotR, but I'd be furious if someone spoiled the ending of say Fight Club. Could never really get into Hunger Games, saw the first movie and wasn't too impressed, so I lost interest. 30 days of night was great, haven't read the novel, but I remember reading a comic of it iirc and ofcourse I've seen movie.
Unfortunately haven't read anything by Lillith Saint Crow. I don't do much reading at all these days, unless you count manga. Used be a huge book nerd when I was younger though. Mostly fantasy, sci-fi and horror, I remember long book series like Goose Bumps, Deltora Quest and Animorphs XD Good times lol. Honestly I get enough reading from my studies these days, also where I live now I can walk to both school and work so no reading on the bus/train for me.
Yeah, Japanese and Korean cinema are quite niche interests even among people that are into anime. Especially stuff from directors like Shion Sono, Chan-wook Park and Takashi Miike. Speaking of Takashi Miike, hes freakin' awesome. Seen a lot of his stuff, my favorites are Audition, Ichi the Killer and 13 Assassins. Recently finished Gozu by him... the movie was worth it just for the last scene lol.
A new friend is always appreciated ^^. It's hard to find people to talk to about your hobbies irl., especially with niche interests like ours.
