Greetings Vickarino! (Sorry I have a habbit of adding "Rino" to every name - ACTUALLY NO! I'M NOT SORRY! I'M PROUD TO PRETEND I'M A COMICAL ITALIAN)
Wow, it's taken me 3 months to get back to you XD
Been busy with university exams and job hunting for my placement year, but I've managed to find some free time to ties some loose ends now
I'd get a dog, but I don't think my family members would like it since they're religious (I ain't religious at all though) and dogs are kinda not allowed as pets. I am thinking of getting a kitty, but I feel like a dog would be more intelligent and better company - so it'll feel like I'm missing out.
I'm the same with money, I scrimp like crazy so I don't feel to guilty later when something expensive catches my eye and I buy it on impulse XD
Like when I go comic con I feel less guilty throwing money away if I know I'm not spending money from the set weekly limited amount of money I give myself from my monthly income to spend on stuff. I don't impulse buy often though, there's not a lot of thing I rly want tbh other than parts to upgrade my PC even more.
I think the people who did win that drawing contest I was talking about made good entries (accept for 3rd place which honestly looked like a child's drawing) but I think it was unfair that they won despite not following the rules to have certain things on the card. Ah well, I'm over it. (Who am I kidding I wanted that £50 amazon voucher XD)
At the very least I enjoyed my drama lessons from year 8 onward since I had friends to joke around with. Thought I did have this moment where our teacher (coincidentally named Ms Jesus) made us take a sticky note and write what we were feeling that day, and a friend (well not rly he used to bully me and I didn't know better till later on) told me to write "Horny". Innocent ol' me thought that meant you felt like having horns or something and wrote it. When she asked "Who wrote horny?" I proudly proclaimed it was me and got weird looks and never understood why until years later. Man I was so naive and innocent XD
I do have some fond memories of certain Ghibli films like Ponyo and I do like the animation style, I just feel like some of the stories don't rly go anywhere or are to dense with build up and too sparse with the climax.
RN my favourite cartoon is probably South park, but I think back in the day I was rly into transformers (the 1980s one) and Arthur.
I'd like to spend more time with friends, but I haven't made any so far n university and I've just finished my 2nd year so it's likely I won't make any more. I had a few opportunities to make a friends but since I'm dyslexic and want to leave university with a first and need a 85% to keep my scholarship I have to spend most my free time studying and making sure my projects are done well. I do hang out with my cousins who share the same hobbies as me, but they're like 5 years younger and I don't wanna seem weird with me being 20 and hanging out with 15 - 16 year olds XD
My favourite animal has got to be cats. They're cute and fluffy, but I'd still pick a dog over them since cats are pretty reserved and self centred. I actually was rly thinking about getting a cat after watching Doukyonin wa Hiza (I'd recommend it if you like pets and want a wholesome heart warming anime) but I think I'll wait when I'm more financially stable so I can buy all the stuff for a cat without too much finical strain.
The sort of anime I like is the "Iyashikei" genre - which is like a sub genre of anime meant to "heal your soul" or just give you wholesome content with light hearted SOL plots paired with relaxing music and lovable characters. Example of it would be Non Non biyori, Yuru camp, Mushishi, Hakumei to mikochi, Usagi drop and that cat anime I just recommended. I love that stuff, but sadly they're not too high in supply. I also like comedy anime, my favourites are Gekkan shoujo nozaki kun and Sliver spoon, I've rewatched them a few times now.
I've go a lot of stories to tell, I'm well known by my online peers for having weird, embarrassing and outrageous stories. Alas It's hard for me to think of one on the fly... hmmm...
I guess a recent one is that I went downstairs to go to the toilet and while I was in there I heard my sister and little brother messing around in the kitchen down the corridor and they seemed to be scheming something. I assumed they wanted to scare em when I got out, so I got prepared and tried opening the toilet door. It wouldn't open I assumed they were doing the ol' block the toilet door and then when I gave it a hard push I;d come flying out as they'd already moved. So I made my 2nd push realy hard with all my force and pretty much messed up the door latch and realised that I never even fricking unlocked the toilet door XD
So I had broken my lock and it turns out my sister and little brother went upstairs and wasn't blocking the door at all and I felt like an idiot. Had to buy a new lock and fix it before my mum found out.
If you want to use the spoiler just write 'spoiler' in between square brackets (["Spoiler"]) and then write what you want after it and when you're done, you finished off with ["/spoiler"] - so ["spoiler"] text ["/spoiler"] - BUT WITHOUT THE QUOTATION MARKS, I put them there so it didn't turn into a spoiler button
Wew it's been a bust week, so I've been pretending you didn't just execret a massive wall of test on my profile and then challenge me to reply! TBF even if you didn't challenge I would have still replied - just after a few more days rather than now - BUT FIRED UP REEEEEEEEEEEE
I nuke my coffee with so much milk and sugar, I don't think it's fair to call it coffee - so I guess I haven't tasted enough coffee to rebuttal your point. Though I'm told small coffee shops make it taste good with their fancy grinding machines and filters. But the day I pay pay more than £3 for a drink is the day you'll see me running downs the streets naked with men's underwear on my face and a red cape that has a picture of an anime waifu on it
I had an extra language class, and my teacher asked me what I didn't like so she could translate it into the language. I told her I don't like olives and then literally half the class turn around to look me right in the eyes like I was a piece of dirt. It's no coincidence I lost the new years card drawing competition that was announced and inprogress in the card despite the winner not even sticking to the god dang theme - they all voted against me after that I guess XD
If you're curious here's the drawing I did: https://www.deviantart.com/rayaxe2/art/Year-of-the-Pig-New-years-card-783487517
Ah drama... in my school that was literally a comedy contest class, no one would ever act the scenarios were were given seriously. Also reminds me of the time where I fucked up my school play because they just randomly gave me the role of narrator and I choked and just left the stage with a "umm... once upon a...uh... bye" and ruined the whole thing. I think they thought I was confident because I was in the debate team and won competitions, but acting and debating are 2 different things.
Funny you mentioned drama too, just been watching glass no kamen and skip beat which are about young character trying to become actors. Give em a go if you're bored, they rly good
Only pet I've ever had was a rabbit, who I was rly attached to. One day I just found it dead in it's hatch, and me and my brother convinced ourselves it was hibernating for the winter and bought it some hey to keep it warm. Months passed with us gradually accepting Fluffy was dead, and when we checked on him at the beginning of spring, it was like a rolling pin compressed him into a 2d furry rock and it had fly eggs on it. We tried to dig a hole in the garden for him but the soil was too hard and my mum told us to deal with it somehow, so - I know it sounds cruel - we put it in a biohazard back and threw it in a bin... I wasn't a fan of the idea but my old brother did it before telling me. RIP Fluffy.
Not rly a fan of Ghibli's stuff, and although I was as fan of anime like Pokemon, yu-gi-oh and Beyblade - I had yet to distinguish what the difference was between anime and cartoons till I reached age 14. My friends got me into the typical weeby anime like Fairy tail and Attack on titan, which was cool since I loved cartoons and didn't know there was a world full of them which were targeted at teens rather than kids. From there I deviated from my friend's suggestions and found this treasure trove of seinen anime, RomComs and dramas which more mature stories that felt more immersive than normal TV shows. I started watching anime on the bus, at night, at lunch and slept at 2am to watch anime late and also woke up at 6am for more anime time XD
Took me a while to slow down, realised I was killing my academics scores and learnt to moderate and now I watch a few seasonal and finish about 1 12 episodes series a week rather than like 10 a week XD
As for cartoons, I mainly watched whatever I could, Arthur, Dexter's laboratory, The pinky and the brain, the list goes on. Couldn't afford the disney shit tho
My nickname is Ray, and that rhymes with a whole slew of things, but people rarely took digs at my nickname. Rayhannur is my first name, which no one calls me. I'm either Ray or Rayhan. However feel free to be the few who call me Gayhan or Gayaxe XD I'm a good sport about jokes at my expense!
ANYWAYS! NOW I HAVE QUESTIONS FOR YOU
-What's your favourite anime genre and anime - why?
-What kind of animals are you into, and if you have pets, what are they?
-Got any funny or dramatic stories to tell that'll entertain me?
Done you a solid and put my essay is spoiler tags XD
I can imagine having the nickname "Tori" is great during British elections while half the population are screaming "Tory scum" XD
But I guess you don't have that phrase spray painted everywhere like we do in London since you guys got a 3rd choice
I don't mind coffee when it's drenched in milk, I mostly use it for the burst of caffeine when I have morning lectures and I've woken up so late that I have to run out of my house like a Japanese school girl with a piece of floop toast hanging out of her mouth while in a muffed voice chanting "JIGOKU JIGOKU!". I do absolutely despise olives though and my siblings despise me in turn for wanting to burn every olive tree in existence.
I picked a bunch of weird A-Levels like geography, History, Art and computer science when I was about your age (fuck, saying that phrase make me feel old) so I kept a few door open for when I went uni and I could pick from those 4 subject I enjoyed. Ironically it closed a few doors since some universities rejected me for computer science because I did art instead of maths - but I still got accepted to King college (one of the top unis in london). I also rejected that offer coz I wanted to go to a university closer to home XD.
I wanted to be an animator since I was a kid - used to make a lot of flip books, even before I watched anime - but there's few jobs and little money to make there, so I took the next best thing, computer science. I'm a computer nerd and I like money, so why not! It might not be as noble as helping animals, but I'll donate some of my wages to the RSPCA to feel good about myself XD
I've only exclussively been watching anime and youtube videos as of late, It's hard for me to find a TV series that isn't total shit, but sometimes I do find a few good ones. I'm mostly into ones with a historical setting. Anime, cartoon and documentaries are my thing- not coz it gives me extra nerd points, it's because most shows on TV and netflix are cheesy rom/coms or mindless action (tbf a lot of anime is like that, but a higher ratio of it isn't)
AND THUS I HAVE ESTABLISHED MYSELF AS THE MORE TALKATIVE PERSON! DARE HAPPYPOPCORN REPLY?
