>Okay, so everyone defending the fact they have no combat doesn't understand why we like magical girls.
This remark fundamentally misunderstands what Wonderful Precure is trying to do, and what makes Magical Girls such an endearing genre.
Just so we understand the same thing here, in Wonderful Precure the reason why they aren't physically fighting the other animals is because a huge theme of this season is caring for and understanding animals. If this season had the Cures beating up the animals, wouldn't you say that's a cruel way of dealing with them? Instead, the Cures try to calm down the animals because they understand that they aren't actually monsters and in reality are just frightened. They offer the animal a warm embrace, remind them that they're okay, and set them off to the animal world. I know this is done purposefully because the opposite approach is reflected in the character Cure Nyammy who *does* attack the animals, and it's framed in a very cruel way on purpose. Cure Nyammy doesn't think about her actions, she only cares about achieving her own goals.
All of this is laid out very clearly for the viewer. The series is very intentionally doing this and has put a lot of care into presenting the theme of caring about animals to the audience. The fact that you dismiss it as "the animators not caring about anything but selling toys" is a severe lack of understanding for what the series is trying to do. Now, of course, you may personally like when Magical Girls are fighting and appreciate when a series has action scenes, however you cannot be dismissive of a series trying to solve conflicts outside fight scenes. I think it's admirable Wonderful Precure is trying to do something different, especially when it personally relates to what I like about Magical Girls.
You may be surprised to hear this but not everyone watches Magical Girls for the fight scenes. In-fact, my favourite Mahou Shoujo are the ones without any fights. Ojamajo Doremi, Comet-san, Fancy Lala (these are all Majokko series, which focus on magical girls using magic in their daily lives), and my favourite scenes in Precure are the times where characters aren't fighting, like in Hugtto Precure when Hana drops her newly acquired sword to instead hug the villain, showing him genuine empathy for getting lost down the path of corruption. A lot of the best moments in Mahou Shoujo are when characters sort out their problems by communicating with each other, working as a team, and finding their place in the world. If Magical Girls only solved their problems by fighting and using brute force, in no way would that be interesting. There is a lot more than just fighting that makes Magical Girl anime so endearing, and dismissing Wonderful Precure's lack of fighting as a lack of care is a misunderstanding of what makes this genre so great. I hope you have a good rest of your day.
