Hmmm good question. As of now I’ve only seen 1st gig and half of 2nd gig. I don’t rmbr the details too well atm but I’d say in many ways Arise is less ‘mature’ than SAC: The think tanks are less poetic and inquisitive, the colors are more vibrant, and the tone is less ominous. Motoko is even in a physically younger body and is a lot more expressive than she is in SAC. Nevertheless I enjoyed Arise a lot. The world of GITS is just so damn cool! the cyberization, the ghost hacking, the AI, all of it.


Since Arise is about how Section 9 came to be there’s a lot of focus on the characters and less on some bigger picture. I suppose that can be a bit of turn off, but I didn’t see it that way. And I still thought Arise was pretty smart albeit not as smart or complex as SAC. It's also worth mentioning the animation in Arise is like water. And without spoiling anything, the story behind the formation of Section 9 is pretty cool. I was really curious about that so, for me, that alone was enough of a draw. But if you’re not curious about that I’d say that if you can reconcile to the thought that, if only for a few hours, you’ll be leaving the comfort of the wise, well endowed, story driven GITS of SAC for its sexier, less experienced, energetic younger sister in Arise, then you’ll enjoy it. In retrospect, the time I've spent with SAC was a lot more rewarding but my fling with Arise was more fun.

Our compatibility is completely nonexistent...nevertheless I recommend 1) Ghost in the Shell: Arise series (1st 3 eps on netflix) 2) The Animatrix (if, and only if, you've seen/liked the matrix; also on netflix) 3) Pale Cocoon (Hit or miss kinda anime but its only a 20 min OVA) Enjoy!..hopefully

Yeah, i was surprised actually that its plot was this bad.
Like all these users who behave like critics in the anime community praise it and bash other shows, you wouldn't expect the plot to be full of bullshit lol.

The thing is, I'm too lazy to use whole 1-10 score, It's easier to use only 5-10 score, that's why it's looks like objective scoring.
