TL;DR Rankings
10-8: Good time, possibly great time if you like the genre
7-6: Recommended if you like the genre / a similar show - probably avoid otherwise
5-4: Avoid unless you have a very specific taste or reason to watch
3 or lower is not worth watching (unless it's a meme)
Longer form explanation
10: Extremely influential on myself and a masterpiece. This does not mean, however, it is without flaws.
Examples: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Liz and the Bluebird, FMA Manga
9: An excellent work. Enjoyable and executed very well, most of the components were consistently great.
Examples: ACCA the 13, Spice and Wolf, Little Witch Academia, Oregairu S2
8: A good show that can be confidently recommended to just about anyone. Often has notable flaws.
Examples: Kill la kill,
7: A show that is enjoyable, but has several notable flaws that may ruin the experience for some. Often is good enough in one area or another so that I am enjoying myself during the vast majority of the show. Examples: , Noragami, Death Note.
6: A fairly normal and somewhat above average execution of a genre. Might have a unique gimmick. Nothing revolutionary here, but is ok overall.
5: This is where I start dropping things most often. very middle of the road.
4: More often than not, I found myself not enjoying this show. It is generally of middling quality and has less redeeming traits than something at 5. However, this show does something right at some point and buys a decent amount of good will. Generally, the bad outweighs the good.
Example: SAO II
3: A show that is bad, not necessarily because it is offensive, but because it is incompetent. Any combination of bad writing, poor directing, lackluster music, and disappointing visuals leave a great deal to be desired from this show.
Example: The irregular at magic high school, Alderman in the Sky
2: This has aspects so bad as to cause offense to the consumer. Disgusting, often for a variety of reasons. May also be soulless trash.
Examples: Astarotte no Omocha, Eromanga (this is basically my quintessential 2)
1: Fairy tail.
