Apologies for the late reply.

That's a tricky question to answer as the whole idea of "ratings" is very much a subjective one that, at its core, is little more than "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". There are a number of aspects about anime, manga, videogames, etc, that are quantifiable, but the rest comes down to whether you liked the it or not.

Take the story for example. Many people believe that it can only be judged in a purely subjective manner, but things like plot development, script and dialogue, grammar, pronunciation, etc - these are quantifiable aspects that directly affect your enjoyment of a show.

I have a deep dislike of English dubs where Japanese honorifics like "senpai", "-chan", "-san", etc are used. They sound ... wrong when pronounced with an American or English accent so the show would receive automatic demerits from me - for several reasons.

Aside from the fact that the terms sound wrong, this type of dialogue also represents a lack of effort on the part of the script writers during the translation process. This results in shoddy dialogue that the voice actors aren't comfortable with, which in turn results in porr performances.

As for the second question, it all depends on whether the show/manga in question has become the benchmark by which other things are measured. I don't consider anything to be a potential "masterpiece" unless it manages to achieve this goal at the least. I do have other requirements for something to be called a masterpiece but this may end up as a wall of text so I'll leave it at that.

You seem very nice, too :) Lucky Star is very lighthearted. I'll give you a little review. A group of friends with different personalities get along as highschool students. Each episode is a bundle of laughter and quite random. Many discussions revolving around food and other animes. You can feel that the characters trust and care for one another especially a girl named Izumi Konata and Hiiragi Kagami. Hiiragi-san has a twin named Hiiragi Tsukasa. Add their friends Takara Miyuki (an airheaded girl with pink hair who is humble, a klutz and intelligent) and many quirky side characters equals a fun show. The opening is funny and so is the ending. It's worth the 24 episodes. (Though I warn you will probably enjoy them so much that you won't even notice when it's over!) Hope that helps~ Have a great day!
