Scores: A 10 means it's either a favorite, or I wanted to meme. The rest is easy to figure it out.
Favorite anime so far:
Shiki - The best horror story I've seen to date. Shiki is hauntingly beautifull, it has pacing, atmosphere and characters the way I like it, and as I watched, the writting just kept adding upon itself. Everything is so well put together that, in the end, it leaves me with a strong emotional satisfaction. I eargerly wait for the day I find an anime I love more than this one;
--- This list is ever changing ---
Toradora! - I've yet to see a better rom-com around, and I'll gladly defend this position to death. Just like Shiki, Toradora's writing keeps adding upon itself, with impecable directing and beautiful characterization. Every episode just makes me so happy that I could as well call it the best feel-good anime and Taiga and Ryuuji are my favorite couple in the media;
Seirei no Moribito - I don't know if there's anything about Moribito I don't like. I love its eastern inspired atmosphere, I love the dettailed setting, I love the universe it crafts, I love the characters, I was blown away by its beautiful animation full of personality; It's a near perfect work I cannot give enough compliments for!
Black Lagoon - Besides the perfect pacing, stellar animation and amazing use of violence for both popcorn fun and drama, if I had to pick a reason for it to be one of my favorites, it would be its amazing main duo. It's perfectly rounded, ofering me everything I could expect from a series of its genre, plus the juicy extras that only makes the whole mix all the more tasty.
Re:Creators - An outstanding work about how we relate to art, what motivates people to create and what draws us to enjoy fiction. Blood-pumping soundtrack, masterful writing from Rei Hiroe, engaging directing and a multi-layered cast of sharply crafted characters, all wrapped around great action; Everything about the show just merges to create an unforgetable piece;
Working!! - One of the most feel good shows I've ever seen. rewatching an episode of it never fails to leave me smiling and warm inside. The cast is adorable, the comedy keeps changing flavors for me and it is complete, with a satisfying ending I can always come back to;
Eureka Seven - 50 episodes of some of the best character development in anime, a beautiful coming-of-age story packed together with stellar world-building and some of the best "shounen-moments" in the media. Absolutely underapreciated. one of the very best anime of all time;
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - I didn't expect to like this show so much! I thought to myself "Oh, gonna have some fun watching giant robots fight", but I wasn't expecting the most optmistic anime ever! This show is a rising stream of positivity that just leaves me amazed. Simon has one of the most satisfying character arcs I've ever seen.
Uchouten Kazoku - An urban phantasy and comedy-drama that doesn't have to try that hard to be the most adorable thing in the world! It's so sincere and genuinly cute, heartwarming and comfy that I can't complain about it in any way.
Fune wo Amu - A show that takes a concept that could turn out really boring and makes it compeling. Just like one of my favorite movies, Sarusuberi Mrs. Hokusai, this is a work full of simple, apparently meaningless but deeply involving character moments that just endear the whole picture to my heart.
