If you want any recommendations on what to watch other then what's down here everything I've rated 8 or higher is a must watch.
My rating scale:
10/10: The cherry on top of the cherry that is the awesomeness of my life. These shows connect to me on a personal level, I enjoyed these shows from the beginning until the end. They were well, executed, explored and presented. They have memorable characters and story. These are shows that leave you with the void upon completion. They’re not perfect 10/10, but I believe there is no such thing as a perfect anime and my personal feelings won’t allow me to score it any lower. Whatever minor flaws the show had, became void by how much I loved it. If there are any shows that made other people feel like I was a raging fanboy these are it. They are the closest thing to a masterpiece and they are irreplaceable for me. These are also the shows that I’d recommend every anime watcher to watch if I one day find a title worthy of this score.
9/10: a rare find. These shows are extremely enjoyable and I count them among the best the medium has to offer. These shows are very rich in content have depth and are a part of my all-time favorite anime. They set themselves apart from the rest and leave an impact heavy enough to give you the feeling of the void. Just hearing a song from the ost will get you hyped and overflowing with emotions you had while watching the show. They barely have any major problems and the ones they do have are easily overlooked. These titles may have even had an impact/influence on my life.
8/10: These are the shows I’d consider to be top 10 material. The large majority of the show is really enjoyable, but there were some moments I didn’t like. Though there might be few minor problems keeping it from ranking higher it’s still a show I regard highly. It’s an example of what other shows should strive to be. I may not have had an as personal connection as I have with shows I ranked higher, but I look back on them fondly. It was endearing, memorable and left a lasting impression.
7/10: A memorable and recommendable show. It has it negatives, but the good far exceeds the bad. It has good audiovisuals is overall a satisfying experience to watch and left a good final impression most of the time. It’s rewatchable although a few issues keep it from being better. But all things considered a solid show If only not as explored or rich in content as it could have been.
6/10: These shows had more good moments then bad ones, but fell just short of being a good, memorable show. They may have had promise, but they either didn’t execute it very well, or there were too many glaring problems that kept it from being better. These shows are a good way to pass the time without necessarily having to turn your brain off. There are some shows in here where I more so lean towards a 7, but don’t because most of those don’t have an actual ending or they are just missing that certain something.
5/10: They aren’t good shows, but they aren’t bad either. These are shows I’d only recommend to one kind of audience. Most of them can be defined as wasted potential or average nothing that really stands out. They’re either just brainless popcorn flicks or wasted potential anime. Most of the shows I gave this rating to are shows that I found to be bad, but my enjoyment is what made up for it.
4/10: If it has this score or lower I won’t recommend it to anyone. These shows have (just barely) failed to at least become something entertaining. They are shows that are pretty bland or subpar. It has way more flaws than redeeming qualities, but enough redeeming qualities to not make it a complete failure. That said there are too many noticeable flaws. Most of the shows I give this rating try too hard to be edgy are sequels that don’t have any charm of what made the original good or enjoyable, summary movies, cash grab movies or filler ova’s.
3/10: Mostly just one trick ponies that have nothing else to offer. Very poorly written and presented. They have only have one “redeeming” quality with the only thing separating them from being a 2 is that unlike the titles I gave a 2 these titles at least had a so called “plot”. Whereas everything I gave a 2 begs me the question what was the point of even creating it was since even the creators seem to have put no effort into it. Most of the titles I gave this score are just a movie or an ova of the main series that’s just milking the show or another ecchi show with no substance.
2/10: These shows have probably only managed to do one thing right in their entire run, whether it’d be that it had really pretty animation, had a bit of nostalgia value (or only managed to give you a boner), but nothing more. There is no heart, soul or effort put into these titles. These should just be buried and forgotten. I’d never recommend them even if you’re a really hardcore fan of the series.
1/10: Yet to meet such an atrocity that it had absolutely no redeeming qualities. It would make me wonder how such a thing could even be created there is absolutely no enjoyment for anyone in this. The show did everything wrong. If I gave something this score then for the love of god do not under any circumstances watch it. I unfortunately suffered through it for you, no need for you to become a victim too. If you still want to watch this then you must be one hell of a masochist. And if you actually legitimately enjoyed it we cannot be friends I’m sorry, but I’m actually not don’t talk to me go away.

Holy fucking shit I am speechless my dude. The peak I just witnessed was insane. Never seen a manga hit peak after peak and completely outdo itself in every capacity. Generational. Hall of fame. Goat. Raw. Fire. Peak fiction.
Hahaha someone hyping Frieren up to you? I didn't see it on your watching list.
EDIT: I'm just now reading you comment about not knowing I loved Morbito so much. The relationship between the Chagum and Balsa really got me. How their time together helped them both grow. It's was beautiful. The music and art direction had me mesmerized throughout the show. Also Morbito makes me feel nostalgia for Sekiro. The princes in both Sekiro and Morbito struggle through similar situations. I'm also a sucker for stories where warriors are tasked with protecting a child. Then growing with each other along the way. Morbito isn't a true 9. I gave it an 8.5, then rouned up to 9 because MAL is a shit site. I think you're correct about the 8 though.
Lol yeah. A lot of people were outraged Thorfinn didn't just slaughter everyone. Reading the manga wasn't definitely an advantage for you and I.
At least you've only watch TTGL once. I feel second watch is usually the best. 3rd re-watch is still a great time. After that, you start getting diminishing returns lol.
I pray you stay above ground long enough to watch E7. After that you can peacefully head off to the afterlife π and not a day sooner.
Peeped you just finished ep 20 of Vinland π
Thorfinn not being able to give Arnheid a good reason why she should keep on living π
The netlfix dub is very good. I listened to a few episodes last week and was happily surprised lol. The sub is much better with the emotional beats imo. Weakest part of this season is the first few episodes. Did those drag for you a little bit?
Absolutely. Couldn't agree more. TTGL off initial feeling would be most people's favorite anime of all time haha.
Season 2 of Vinland has a very feel good ending. I'm pretty attached to my 1-9 as well π so I get it completely.
Well that depends on you. Vinland Saga season 2 competes toe to toe with every anime on your favorites list that I've seen. You had Vinland in your top 15 before ever watching the second season. I don't see why it wouldn't make you consider having it crack your top 10 other than "It's Bebop." The music alone in certain moments will make you feel it lol. Idk, we'll see. I could be wrong about what your reaction will be to the season after finishing it since you are binge. For me it felt very personal since I watched weekly and was given time to digest everything slowly.
Shouji's getting friendzoned hard af rn lmao. Showing exactly how men get put in the friendzone. NANA definitely doesn't have self love that's for sure.
That was a really solid first episode. Strong voice acting, likable characters, easy to follow, and I laughed a couple times. NANA is out here tryna get every older man sent to jail π she's just giving it away.
Don't know what it's called.
πΆ "I need your looove. I'm a broken roooose." πΆ
We're both at the age where something being mainstream shouldn't play a factor in where we rank an anime in our top 10. Having a favorites list that's unique and stands out shouldn't matter.
Is NANA still worth a watch for someone that never plans on reading the manga?
EDIT: I lied. I may read the manga. But want to know just in case I choose note to lol.
EDIT: That intro was so hype π
Being someone that has re-watched Brotherhood multiple times, I couldn't disagree more with you on the basic bitch statement π. Should have just re-watched one last time for the road and had a fight to the death with Ippo. Fate Zero makes sense though. It's been the complete opposite with me and fate zero. I can never complete a re-watch with it anymore. I'm constantly putting it in and taking it out of my top 10 because I'm so indecisive about my number 10 spot. Right now it's the One Piece anime.
NANA almost got you there fr?!? Now I absolutely have to watch it. Especially since it's dubbed. Gimme a rough pitch of the anime.

Sidr Note: Speaking of favorites. I still need to finish Shinsekai yori π
Btw. We can just continue this on whatspp since it's easier than just going back n forth between apps.

Edit: You dropped Brotherhood to number 4 below? Lol wth happened dude.
Edit: Takamura shot up to number 1 on your list π that's definitely a change.
Edit: Disappointed AOT didn't crack your top 10 Emmy smh.
Any other big changes that I missed?
