Eden is a lot fresher in my mind than it otherwise would be thanks to a friend reading it last year which spurred me to re-read a lot of it, but I did note at the time that I've probably read up to the timeskip 4 times now and only ever read to the end from there once.
Seems like a common failing in media for a work that excels at storytelling on a micro level to sacrifice those elements to feed a much grander but also much less interesting or relatable macro narrative.
Eden and Chainsaw Man are the only long running Manga I've bought physical volumes of, I was almost put off doing that for good by Eden because Dark Horse never finished printing it in english, seems weirdly fitting for my collection to trail off into nothing considering how little I care to reread the back half (I would still have liked to get the whole set though, it's infuriating).
Weird timing for me to have seen your comment, I was sitting on my profile coincidentally thinking about Helena because of the latest episode of the Chainsaw Man anime adaptation and how similar the train scene with Makima initially seemed to that Helena scene in Eden (obviously the developments afterwards are quite different) and then I scrolled down to notice your comment about a forum post I made 8 years ago.
After all this time, still thinking about it occasionally, still love it (and hate it).
