About me
More of a casual fan than a critical one to be honest. I do analyse shows out of curiosity to find out why I thought a show was good (especially when it's trash), but despite talking up my rating system, I pretty much rate shows on instinct. Psychological or mystery are probably my favourite genres, followed by isekai/adventure, comedy, shounen and romance. Slice of life is on the edge.
How I rate shows (mostly)
10 - unforgettable, shows that I would consider impactful on a personal level.
9 - masterpiece, definitely comprise my favourite anime of all time. Great execution, interesting premise and well-written characters.
8 - awesome, a 7, but memorable. Definitely contends for my favourite anime of all time.
7 - good, anime that was well-executed, but still either had a few major flaws or was not particularly memorable.
6 - solid, anime that I kind of enjoyed, but did as much wrong as it did right.
5 - meh, just a really mid anime that I neither enjoyed, nor stood out to me.
4 - bad, either confusing, boring to the point of death or poorly executed.
3, 2, 1 - probably won't see a lot of these because it's gotta be a special kinda bad to qualify.
I generally rate shows based on a combination of how much I enjoyed them and how well it was executed. So both trash shows that I enjoyed a lot and well-executed shows that I found kinda mid would only make it so far up. There's a definite jump up at each score, especially from a 6 to a 7 and a 7 to an 8, 9 or 10.
A few of my takes
"Rent a Girlfriend" was awesome.
"Pokemon XYZ" was a masterpiece.
"Inazuma Eleven" is one of the best sports anime out there.
Jojo kinda mid, but I can understand the appeal.
The "Tower of God" anime was incredible.
