Probably a good sign that I don't recall much about the sub quality. Since I'd definitely remember if they were terrible. It's pretty straight forward stuff anyway. I got in an Ideon rewatch last year myself. Fun times.
Can't go wrong with Tekkaman Blade either.
I seem to prefer his lesser known titles that are more on the humor side best. Daitarn 3 is my second favorite and a top notch SR series. But yeah, MSG, Zeta, Ideon and so on are all damn good. The only ones that blow are Victory Gundam and Brain Powered.
Glad that worked out. Nice that we can have some continuity straight through now. I would always opt to read GI in the manga instead. The OVAs aren't terrible and we've seen plenty of worse anime. It's just a very strange follow up in the looks and vibe department after ep 70 of the original. Are you a yay or nay on Chimera Ants? I don't hate it, just wish it weren't the longest arc and that it didn't take 8 years to finish in the manga lol. There are some highlights, but I find the fandom for CA is a little bizarre. I fail to see the brilliance and I'm one of the biggest HxH fans there is. I don't like how it feels like such a departure from the rest of the series and that it relied so heavily on fighting. Lost the great sense of humor it had as well. Then it magically feels like the series I knew and loved immediately after in the Election arc and the current arc in the manga has all of the tools to be the best in the series. Plot wise, it really does feel like you could skip over CA entirely during rewatches and not miss a beat. All you need to know is why Gon is in that state and you're good to go. So my hope is that the current arc surpasses CA in length since that has never sit well with me heh.
Where do you rank Xabungle among Tomino's work? It's actually my favorite. Enjoyed the hell out of that one. So much fun.
Yeah, think I'll enjoy the manga more overall. It probably nails the look a bit better. Over 60 volumes in so... it must be doing something right. I just have to wait for the manga mood to strike. Which only comes around every few years for me haha.
Jumong is the perfect place to start, not just because it's my favorite to this very day, but because it's the beginning of the timeline for the Korean variety. Getting this one in early really sets the foundation and makes you appreciate some other shows more.
A couple of music samples.

I know one place where you can grab a few at a time (kinda slow) if you can't find it anywhere else. Avistaz is like the BakaBT for this stuff, though the same problem with the ratio bullshit. They kicked me off a few years ago when my ratio was good for not being active for a bit... So I can't even get back on there heh. I know they have pretty much everything though. I really just use streaming services for drama these days. Viki is my usual go to place. I have a subscription there since I'm watching year round. I think you can watch stuff for free in lower quality perhaps. I'm usually set between that and Netflix. Though, it sucks whenever something gets removed. So I've been trying to rewatch most of my favorites lately before that happens.
Top favorites
Six Flying Dragons
Empress Ki (Amazon Prime)
King Gwanggaeto the Great
Queen Seon Duk (Viki)
Nirvana in Fire (Viki)
Nirvana in Fire 2 (Viki)
The Princess Weiyoung (Viki and Netflix)
Secrets of Three Kingdoms (Viki)
The best feeling was getting super into these and realizing there was a never ending supply. With the amount that come out per year, and the backlog I still have, I'll seemingly never run out. I just finished rewatching Nirvana in Fire 1 and 2. The best of the Chinese variety. Brilliant stuff.
The CGI in Kingdom S1 is a bummer. Is S2 looking better? Maybe it can be like Initial D and look a tad better with each installment heh.
I have watched all Leijiverse from 70s-80s except Queen Millennia. I didn’t watch any ovas from 90s to 2000s. Tho I heard Harlock Endless Odyssey is very good.
Harlock SSX was good atleast in beginning episodes. It had potential to surpass even original. But as it goes it was still good. However I feel like they wrapped up the story in last 4 eps. I feel like atleast 10 episodes worth of missing in plotline. I wish it was longer. Harlock SSX along with Queen Millennia didn’t do well in 80s due to mecha genre.
I like adventure stuff that's why I decided to watch one piece. I can't believe i finished the first half myself. Anyway thank you good luck to you too in watching some good stuff.
what have you been into recently besides your anime binge?
No problem. Yeah AnJ truly effected me in a lot of emotional ways. I still can't forget the last scene. Yeah rewatching your favourite stuff from past is a magnificent experience. Yeah they should remastered the OG AnJ series it deserves way better.
Oh yeah. I am really fond of Leiji Matsumoto's works. Of all of them Captain Harlock is my most favourite. The 1978 series. I heard of Queen Millennia before but never all subs at the time I was watching all Leijiverse. Maybe I'll give it a shot if the subs complete. Thanks again.
