Recommendation Club Newsletter~Holiday Edition

As we enter into one of the busiest times of the year, we here at the Recommendation Club would like to extend our wishes for each and every one of you to have a wonderful holiday season!

Since the September newsletter, our club has gained many new members, and seen the return of old ones. We would like to keep the momentum going, and with our member list now at 3,111, that should be no problem at all! ^_^.

We would like all of our members, old and new, to help keep this an active, and fun club, a place to Chat and to seek out recommendations in our General anime and General Manga thread as well as the specific anime genre threads, such as Drama and Romance and Sci-fi and many others as well.

It’s a great place to make new friends, or renew past friendships, and we urge all of our members to drop by, and post in the various threads and comment section, as well as share you expertise with other members.

Become an Expert Now

1. What is an Anime Expert?
An Anime Expert is mainly an user that is willing to help us by recommending stuff. Most of them are specialized in some genres, while a few are the general experts type.

2. How do I help?
People around this club normally create their own thread to ask for recommendation or ask in the comments. If you are online and notice their comments/posts, you can give them suggestion on what to watch.

3. What do I get?
First of all, every Expert will receive a special custom made expert card. It can also help you get limited edition cards and so on. Your name will be featured in a thread and there will be a link to that thread on the layout. You can be notified faster about some club changes and content that will be implemented at a later date.

Complete this form to become an Expert:

Genres you want to be expert in: (genres you normally watch and are most familiar with)
Other genres you're familiar with:
Familiarity with airing anime: (if you watch at least a few airing anime each season, you're probably at least decently familiar with that and can recommend)
Other: (write any additional details if you want)

We'll contact you after you've been approved with the details about your card.

Oh my! The bands you listed are also my favorites, can't believe you listed almost all of the things I like. People often make fun of the so called "nu metal" bands like Disturbed, so I am glad to meet another fan. Granted, I like their earlier albums much better, same thing goes for Godsmack.

Other groups I like would be Tool, Dream Theater, some Alice in Chains etc.

I have only heard a few of their songs but that is one of them. They sound pretty good and I need to check them out more when I have time.

Most people who ask about your favorite bands , especially metal fans, seem to get put off when I list Symphonic Metal bands. I do like some from other genre's but I dislike when all they do is the growling and screaming. Not that I can't appreciate the music, I just like good vocals.

On my list of favorites would be :

Nightwish (Older songs preferred)
Epica
Kamelot- but I didn't much care for the newest release
Within Temptation- ^ same as above
Blind Guardian-(power I know but his voice is awesome)
Leaves Eyes - But I need to listen to more
Elis -is another good one, but the singer passed away

So that gives you an idea .

I also like groups like Tarot, Bullet For My Valentine, Metallica etc. and I am always trying to find other stuff I enjoy, I just for some reason always return to the above list.

With the fall season upon us, the club has not been as active recently with our members being busy with work, school, and the other things life throws our way, but we here at the Recommendation Club want to let all of our members know that we haven't gone anywhere! We welcome you all to drop by, and say hello to old friends, or make new ones. We have a large member-list, and we would like to see all of you joining in, and sharing, your anime and manga knowledge with the club!

Loads of new members join all the time, either wanting recommendations, or eager to share their expertise with others, so don't be shy, and join right in! Like to chat? Don't we all! I have a real tough time giving any credit to school/rom/coms. There may be some good ones but I'm not likely to find them.

Ending or no ending, I still love Zipang.

I was teasing you when I was talking about the gay thing. :-) Guess I'm not as impatient as you and I still like the atmosphere of the series. Interested to see what happens now that the girl is back in the picture. Neither do I have a real issue with ambiguous endings except in the case of Zipang where I really, really wanted more . . . .and couldn't find a manga! But what if I had known it was going to leave me that way and hadn't experienced it to start with?

. . . .. you might totally hate Hanasakeru Sheshounen but it is different from 99% of them.

++Definitely not high art, but more entertaining than a lot of other new stuff.

++Try not to let your male "ewwwww factor" get in the way. Just watching it won't make you gay. ;-) I'm finding the world interesting and wanting to know why Rat hates No.6 so much. (I don't especially like girl/girl stuff but every once in a while one with a good story comes along and I watch it with no problem.

++It's o.k. but nothing to go out of your way to see.

++This one is pretty smart.

>Tiger and Bunny - I was entangled with my last semester studies in the spring season when it was started airing. Ever since then I conveniently forgot it. Will need to sample a few eps as I consider myself a not so excited sunrise fan anyway.
++The first couple episodes of this one won't really tell the tale. It gets more endearing as it goes along.

Uta no prince - reverse harem, I've enough with forward harems already. >Reverse harems, I can't form a feeling or tolerance to them. I sluggishly finished Ouren HSC, mainly cuz it's hilarious. Not a single such anime since then. If I were to go near it with a ten foot pole, I'd not be sure I'd pole dance or smash everything withing 10 ft radius.
++If you ever do decide to take on a RH, give Hanasakeru Seishounen.

Blade - Iron Man was rusty, X-men was muddled, Wolverine was better, and Blade is almost good.

Blood-C - Nothing like Blood+. It's been a very boring monster of the week show but glimpses of the mystery behind everything are starting to surface, and if you like grim and bloody, it is picking up steam in that department as well.

Dantalian no Shoka - Just a grimmer Gosick.

Hanasaku Iroha - I'm actually enjoying this one even though it is rather "typical."

Ikoku Meiro no Croisee - Don't like the too cute little, and I do mean little, Japanese Girl and some other stuff but I'm a sucker for the historical setting.

Kamisama Dolls - Wasn't sure about this one but it is really picking up steam. I'm liking it.

Kamisama no Memochou - This thing is all over the place. I keep threatening to drop it.

Natsume Yuujinchou San - Every bit as good as its predecessors.

No.6 - I see you aren't particularly impressed. I'm really liking it.

Nurarihyon no Mago: Sennen Makyou - Way more interesting than its first season. Loving "grandpa." Didn't like the last couple eps much as they kind of went all Naruto but it seems to be shifting away from that and on to something more interesting. Little to no focus on the school kid aspect.

Sacred Seven - Almost dropped it but it got a bit more interesting with Medical experimentation on young people, a good guy turning out to be a bad guy and a bad guy turning out to be good guy or at least a justified bad guy.

Steins;Gate - Really one of the better things to come out this year.

Tiger and Bunny - Absolutely delightful. Doesn't turn out to be anything you think it is going to be.

Usagi Drop - Awwww, hell. It's just good. Sentimental but not sappy.

Uta no*Prince-Sama Maji Love 1000% - Don't go near it with a ten foot pole. Not that I would think you would anyway.
