Sorry for the late reply, thanks for taking the time to give me your feedback!
Haven't been as active on MAL lately due to being busy with life, but I'm picking it back up lately~
I won't lie, I do not remember too much about Cocona at the moment, having written that review three years ago. However, from what I remember, I do agree that they had some relatable aspects. I think the point that I was trying to make in my review was that they both have personalities that have appeared in a good number of anime. The development that happened was quite simple in terms of story telling. I went through your animelist (you've seen a lot of good anime, I think we have similar taste lol). If you want to see some examples of what I believe to be more realistic character development in anime, I would recommend to you the following series:
1. Kokoro Connect: 8/10
A story about people who switch bodies randomly, understanding themselves and life. It had really great character development.
2. Tiger and Bunny 9/10
A superhero story about adult professional superheroes and the lives they live, the struggles they face, the battles they fight.
3. Shinsekai Yori: 10/10
Probably one of the best character developments and story telling in all of anime, in my opinion. A story about people with psychic powers in an alternate world.
Sorry if I offended you about them as characters! I respect your opinion and you also have a great favorites list!
I could see all of those characters being on my list as well. Haven't seen Blood+, Noir, or Serial Experiments Lain though.
To be honest, it's been a long time since I've made any serious attempt on reviewing anime, and regretfully, I am not too fond of my reviews. My Hidan no Aria AA review in particular was, even at the time, an experimental style that I tried. I totally understand that there isn't really enough yuri out there; I was a big fan of it and the only source of a good fanservicey one (that is directed towards a more male audience) would be a kiss for the petals. Any contribution to the small stack is good. However, I can't tell you that I remember Hidan no Aria AA being that great of a show.
Anyway, I don't really take down my reviews since I don't really care to hide how I used to think, and it's good to have a recording of what I used to do, even if it's cringey. I'm surprised you found something so dated. Unfortunately I'm not so into anime anymore.
Lol thanks! I have a lot of stuff in my PTW I wish it got smaller and not bigger but ih well XD someday I'll get around to it but right now I don't have time to binge watch what I want to :(
