Hello! I'm a Finnish guy, who loves anime, especially old anime (in the 80's they made lot of great series and movies).
Favorite genres: shounen (old shoujo is also nice though), action, drama, adventure and fantasy. Also stories which include animals are very nice and of course I love the nostalgic series from my childhood.
My very first animes I watched as kid were Tanoshii Moomin Ikka (The Moomins), and Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin (Silver Fang), which was also my very first manga I ever read. I have been a very big Ginga fan since that <3
You can freely add me as friend. It's always cool to see if we share the same interests and maybe I can even find new interesting series on your list :)

Oh, interesting! So the human-centered story option was a possibility. But to be fair, I think the publisher;s suggestion was very good. A story focusing more on dogs offered greater uniqueness, and since Yoshihiro Takahashi likes dogs a lot (from what I've read), then making a manga primarily about them sounded like a way to allow him to unleash his potential. In result, the series became a more enjoyable manga because of its freshness, rather than "one of many manga released seasonally."
Speaking about the manga, the sequel about Gin's son, Weed, has reached far greater popularity than the manga about Gin, no? At least according to this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_manga#Between_20_million_and_29_million_copies , where the Weed manga is mentioned, with the Gin manga nowhere to be found.
Yeah, his voice actually fits him well. But it is hard to get used to at first if you are used to his English voice. They sound completely different. True, which probably explains why he is so likeable.
Happy Birthday, btw!! :)
May God Bless You ..๐๐
I see. There is a lot of Ginga content then; that is great. How often do the releases happen? It must feel good that they are constantly releasing new content for their fans.
I had this situation with DBS because I am so used to Goku's English voice. He sounds kinda manly, and then I had to watch it in Japanese for the first time. It did feel weird because he sounded more feminine xD I am used to it now, and it is great, but it is like a bit of shock when you are used to certain voices.
Yes, Gin sounds like a little baby in Japanese, haha, but does not that reflect his character at that point in the story? Haha, I think Finnish is probably one of the most complicated languages to learn. I think Japanese might be easier lol I might watch a bit just for fun lol It makes a lot of sense; most people in Finland speak English really well. I think in the southern European countries is where they dub every single thing. I know that is the case in Italy.
You should hurry up and watch the other parts; for me, Jojo only gets better with each season. I know many people still love part 3 the most, but I think parts 4, 5, and 6 are the peak of Jojo, and I am currently reading part 7 and so far so good.
How many sequels are there after GDW?
Yeah, so far I am surprised how good it is. I also like how fitting the voices are. I think they gave the characters a little more personality. Even though it is a faithful translation, they occasionally say things that they would not say in the original. I like it.
Yes, there are some bad English dubs. However, I believe they have recently put in more effort. I recall watching some early 2000s dub shows where it seemed like there was only one woman voicing every single female character, and it sometimes felt like they were simply reading the script. But nowadays all the new dubs that are coming out seem to be a bit more refined.
I mostly prefer the original voices, but there are a few shows like Natsume and InuYasha that I think the English dub is better than the OG, and I am also pretty used to their English voices. It is just more convenient for me to watch dubbed shows these days because I work from home and can multitask at times.
Oh yeah, he watched roughly the same amount of series as me. But he is more into Jojo, Baki, and these types of series. Now I am forcing him to watch Saint Seiya because it is one of my favourite series hahaha. I am also checking out the new English dub from 2020. I have never watched SS in English, so I am looking forward to it. They certainly sound more sassy than in the original lol.
Good point! It could have been a reference!!! Now it makes sense lol
Yes, I did lol I believe most people who watched it would have thought so, but also because of their relationship dynamics. Oh, yeah, I know, but many characters also call their father or relatives ''ojisan.'' Boruto, for example, refers to Naruto as such despite the fact that he is his father. I thought Daisuke was a brat who did not respect his elders lol.
That is surprising; they appeared to be so close, but I suppose you do not have to be related to form a good friendship. Oh, I see, because I already found one error in the sub I watched, there were probably more translation errors lol.
The first two episodes were fantastic. A solid start, realistic gore, and interesting, charismatic characters. They got me excited for what was to come. Sadly, while the following episodes were still good, I began gradually losing interest after the sixth episode. The plot started to shift more towards dog-centered action, which didn't quite capture my attention. I also didn't like how humans were portrayed throughout the series. They were often depicted with mostly negative traits, or simply as a clueless bunch who couldn't handle the bear problem at all.
Despite giving it a chance even after ep. 7, I just didn't feel motivated enough to continue watching it.
Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun. It's an interesting and well-made series with a great soundtrack. I caught myself humming the main theme more than once. I think I would have enjoyed this show much more as a kid. Perhaps I wouldn't have dropped it then. :)
I think I am going for the obvious ones. Gin and Rikki are up there as my favourites. However, I believe Ben grew on me throughout the series as he survived everything. Akame was also one of my favourites. Yeah, Cross was likeable, and I believe she served as a maternal figure to Gin.
Yeah, this was something I noticed they were talking all the time about the ''strongest male''. But I just perceived it as the way things worked in their pack. After all, they were dogs, so it made sense that they were ranked that way. It would be nice to see more female characters, but I understand how the series works, and to be honest, it is fine. Hopefully the females treatment won't get too bad in the following seasons.
It is good that Smith gets some character development going forward. I wasn't a big fan of his character, but at least he did seem to regret his actions in the end.
Benizakura was a badass, but it was sad when he left his owner behind. I am a dog owner, so I always find it difficult when they part ways, and my dog was watching the series with me, believe it or not haha. I was telling her you better not to leave me to join a pack of fighting dogs, hehe, but she is a female so she is good, I suppose lol
I also liked Daisuke's grandpa. He was a tough man but a wise one.
Oh, I see. A part of me wished they would reach a happy conclusion with the humans. Perhaps because it is human nature. But I understand the story is told from the perspective of the dogs, so it would make more sense if they simply followed their paths. Furthermore, Gin's character development continued throughout the series until he became the leader, so returning with Daisuke would make little sense, and he would never be able to roam freely as he should. However, they could have hugged each other; that was brutal ๐ญ ๐ญ.
Is Gin still alive in GDW?
Daisuke was a good character. He actually cared about Gin as a friend and not only as a hunting dog. Therefore, I wanted their reunion to happen xD Does it ever happen in the following series?
Oh, his name is Kirikaze on MAL. On the website I watched, they subbed his name as Kai. Haha, I don't know why. I thought his story was pretty sad. :'(
So I finally finished it!!!
First and foremost, I am obsessed with the opening song. I am actually listening to it now. lol It was a wild ride. A lot of things happened. I see why you think it is similar to Saint Seiya. I definitely see some similarities. The ending was rather brutal. First of all, I didn't expect Gin's father to come back. I didn't realise he was the leader all along. It was extremely bittersweet for him to experience that ending for the second time. Second, the fact that Gin was unable to hug Daisuke made me upset and sad. Also, despite his numerous near-death experiences, Ben made it to the end. I felt sorry for Benizakura, Akatora, and Kai. They deserved better.
Lastly, that damn bear is immortal or what? God when he actually died. I had to wait a good 5 minutes to make sure he wasn't coming back this time. lol
