I gravitate towards non-battle oriented anime most of the time, but I'm fine with anything as long as the plot is good. My comfort genre is slice of life, and I love watching/reading anything that pushes it medium to its limits.
The more risks a story is willing to take, the more likely I'll fall in love with it, despite how messy it might be.
I tend to avoid shows that I know I wouldn't enjoy, hence the ratings here are (mostly) positive.
Manga, light novels and visual novels are my jam too. Hit me up if you wanna discuss anything
Here's how I score things:
1: Irredeemable. Just pure, utter garbage. Either it's offensive or it's just that worthless (Examples: Hametsu no Mars, Kiss Players)
2: Laughably bad, so much so that I actually kinda enjoy it (Example: Ex-arm)
3: A waste of time. Usually a show has to be really dull or just a huge miss to land this low. (Examples: Fate/Apocrypha, Higurashi Gou)
4: It's bad, but I guess it wasn't a total waste of time. One or two aspects were decent at least. (Examples: Lycoris Recoil, Space Patrol Luluco)
5: Meh. They're ok I guess. (Examples: Demon Slayer, Cardcaptor Sakura)
6: Not bad. They have their flaws, but I do appreciate them nonetheless. (Examples: Great Pretender, Devilman Crybaby)
7: Shows that I would recommend. They're good. (Examples: Vivy, Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun)
8: I'm a fan. They're the good shit, and I would love to meet the people behind them. (Examples: Kill la Kill, Tatami Galaxy, Steins;Gate)
9: Amazing. They might have flaws, but those flaws are inconsequential to me. Highly enjoyable and impactful. (Examples: Berserk, One Piece, Kaguya-sama, Gurren Lagann)
10: While a 10 does not mean they're flawless, they hold a very special place in my heart. The absolute best of their respective genres. (Examples: Oyasumi Punpun, Cowboy Bebop, Monogatari Series)
