yo i saw your thread on the MAL forums just now
if you want some advice on how to make productive threads and make the MAL forums great again, then maybe read this post i made on another thread a while back:
Fario-P said: I don't actively start/make many forum threads, because most ideas I might want to talk about are already made by other users.
Practically every "favorite anime opening/ending/quote/music etc." topic already has their own thread, with even several repeat threads from users who aren't aware of older threads. I have literally lost count of how many times I have seen a new "overrated/underrated anime" thread or a "what manga/video game should be adapted to anime" thread, where the latter of which also appears under the Manga Discussion and Games, Computers & Tech Support boards as well as the Anime Discussion board. Don't get me wrong, I do think about these kinds of popular topics all the time and do participate in some of these threads (even if they are repeated), but I feel like it'd be pointless to start a brand new thread under that topic just to get people talking about it when a thread for that already exists.
So when I do make a new thread, I usually try to think of unique topics to talk about and what questions would help facilitate discussion on it.
I will literally go as far as to use the "Search Forum" feature several times under several search terms and/or forum boards just to make sure that the topic I have in mind at the moment hasn't been done before. Sure, my very first forum thread, "Any manga that you'd like to see animated IF made with changes from source material", isn't terribly unique as it's basically another "what manga do you want to see adapted?!" thread. But because most people will obviously want to see the source material represented faithfully in an adaptation, I decided to explore the question from another angle and see what answers I could get from it. Surely not every manga is perfect, so what if there were some manga out there that were decent, but could be improved upon by an anime adaptation that decided to make meaningful changes? I'm sure there are some anime adaptations of manga that people prefer way more over the source material—I mean, for instance, I literally never hear anything about K-On other than from its anime adaptation by KyoAni lol.
So I guess my (personal) general rule of thumb for creating a new forum topic is that it has to be a topic that wasn't done before by an older thread that is still available to post on. If the idea's already been done and is still available for discussion (aka not locked), I may necrobump an older thread (provided that it's under a forum board that doesn't have a no-necrobumping-past-2-weeks rule) instead of making a repeat thread. I also like to make sure that the thread starts off with a first post that provides a decent amount of context for the topic, presents some discussion questions, and a few images just so your eyes don't get tired of seeing nothing but walls and walls of text. Hey, I just want the opening post to look nice. ♪
I am watching Fate/Kaleid but its nothing really special, even though I wasnt expecting much from it I still got disappointed. Well I just hope Oath Under the Snow lives upto its hype
