Hey there, saw your post in the recommendation thread asking for some romance anime. Here's some suggestions:

1) Voices of a distant star (short and bittersweet), same producer as 5cm/sec
2) I"s Pure
3) Only yesterday (movie)
4) Kowarekake no Orgel (short and sweet)
5) Chihayafuru (romance is kind of a mild secondary theme, but a very well done anime nonetheless, highly recommend)
6) Knights of Sidonia (romance is secondary, but very well done anime with a second season coming soon, im not usually a fan of mecha but this one kept my interest)
7) Mahoromatic (a little bit of ecchi involved if i rememember correctly, not a fan of that but it was still an enjoyable story)
8) Planetes (romance is secondary and very slow, but a great story and very well done anime)
9) Eikoku Koi Monogatari Emma (great, unique romance story set in the UK)
10) Tokyo marble chocolate (short and sweet)
11) Isshuukan Friends (must watch)
12) Cross road (short commercial, makes you wish there was an anime)

phew, that took a while, tried to cross reference with your list, hope this helps!

also if you have any romance suggestions for me i'd appreciate it :)

Glad that you seemed to have enjoyed Defense Devil and Alive: The Final Evolution :) From the recommendation thread

Interesting, but it seems a bit odd if I might say so. Way to early to judge if it will be good. :)
MelKaven Jun 21, 2013 3:08 PM
Darn, I really, sincerely wish I could be of help man, but you've seen so much more than me. Its really hard to pin point shows for you that you haven't seen. :/
MelKaven Jun 21, 2013 2:03 PM
Oh, damn. Yeah, I sorta dislike them too... >_> However I find it really hard to find a good romance without it nowadays. You might like Akagami no Shirayuki-hime, maybe.

http://myanimelist.net/manga/4571/Akagami_no_Shirayuki-hime
After the first arc its kinda solidified who she is going to be with. Idk, I thought it was a little too cliche so I didn't like it as much but it had its moments.

Hmm, well I will say that I really loved Last Game too, lol. I guess If I scoured around a bit... hmm...

http://myanimelist.net/manga/13700/Katakoi_Triangle
Written by the same person who wrote Last Game, its pretty good; although it is fairly short.

http://myanimelist.net/manga/37069/Atashi_no_Bambi
Extremely short, Although its not that great. I found it as a good pass time though.

http://myanimelist.net/anime/1210/NHK_ni_Youkoso!
Interestingly, this anime has some features of romance. But again, I don't think its your type. However, I'll just throw it out there. Its a 'meh' show. It starts off good, but slowly starts to get worse and worse.

http://myanimelist.net/anime/11783/Dog_Days
Did you know this has a sequel? You saw the first season and rated it an 8. Idk if its helpful but try that one out.

http://myanimelist.net/anime/10800/Chihayafuru
This one has romance, and they are airing a season 2 as we speak. Its extremely good, but the story isn't ENTIRELY about romance. Its more so about an incredible game that they play. But there is romance in various developments. (Heavy shipping for taichi, gonna say it right now)

http://myanimelist.net/manga/2893/Kannagi
maybe, maybe, maybe, Kannagi. This also has an anime, you might enjoy that. (but the manga is ongoing)

http://myanimelist.net/anime/14345/Btooom!
has action and a romance element, however its not 'worked on' that much. The manga is infinitely better, but you might like the anime. (I totally loved it)

Sorry but I don't have much more suggestions, I honestly wish I did but you've seen/read like twice as much as me lol. If I find any that neither of us have seen, I'll check it out and send it to you. :)

The first list I sent was anime, the second list is manga, Just decided to send one at a time (since I went through one list, then the other, thought might as well separate them)
Pirating_Ninja Mar 20, 2013 9:38 PM
K so here is a list of some action/romance manga:

- Air Gear (Shounen, sort of a more mature shounen, and somewhat long, the romance is extremely slow (although I believe it does develop near the end), but an okay action as well)

- Basara (Shoujo, If you liked Red River you will probably like this, I am not too positive of the series as I only started the first 3 chapters however it was very good from what I could tell (just not in the mood for an adventure manga atm, but when I am gonna pick that up first probably))

- Berserk (Seinen, My favorite manga (As well as my favorite series in general out of all manga/anime), love the medieval setting, love the OP mc, and love the tone, very dark, their is romance and it was pretty good however right now it is kind of at a stand still (Note: The manga is ALOT better than the anime, and the anime only covers a very small portion of the manga, if you want I could explain though if you start reading you will instantly sense that the anime doesn't occur at the same time as the manga))

- Chou Dokyuu Shoujo 4946 (Shounen, cute rather unique and interesting romance, actually intend to finish this series (it was on hiatus for awhile, fear that the ending was rushed but still want to read the ending))

- Dance in the Vampire Bund (Seinen, a pretty good series, has some romance however not too much most of the time, good action)

- Freezing (Seinen, think it has developed by now (was definitely on the verge of developing when I hit a certain plot development that made me go "nope, not about that life, maybe some other day" ... Needless to say it can be somewhat twisted at times, although I have been assured that that "bump" in the road was short I just can't bring myself to power on through it)

- Gokusen (Josei, pretty cool MC, nice series with some romance and somewhat comedic at times however old art might be a turn off)

- Noblesse (Shounen, ABSOLUTELY NO ROMANCE, it is a pretty good action though, and a webcomic so it is all in color and has some nice art, pretty cool series if you wanna read a good action)

- Psyren (Shounen, a "dark shounen", anyways has some nice romance, a good plot, pretty good manga overall)

- Samurai Deeper Kyo (Seinen, almost purely action however believe it or not it has a sweet romantic ending (liked the ending), anyways thought I would bring it up)

- Sun-ken Rock (Seine, pretty sick series overall, has some romance that I believe actually finally has developed (IE believe it is now mutual and both know the other's feelngs, etc. etc.), anyways a good series that is definitely worth checking out)

- Tsuki no Shippo (Shoujo, sort of a reverse harem, also not sure it's the best series out there but I like the cheerful (and somewhat stupid) female MC's that almost never let anything get them down and have a very strong will (even if they are clumsy and helpless))

- Vagabond (Seinen, old art so not sure how much you will like it, however very very slight romance, the action and sort of overall tone is pretty interesting though)

- Vinland Saga (Seinen, ABSOLUTELY NO ROMANCE, however having said that this is a very intriguing series, one of my favorite action in fact, also interesting due to the fact that it is about vikings, anyways great action series)

- World Embryo (Shounen, another dark shounen, somewhat sad, good plot, unsure if the romance is anything more than just implied at this point but there was something.)

Sorry for short descriptions, using laptop keyboard which is EXTREMELY unresponsive, misses like 1/5 - 1/10 letters I hit so I have to go back and fix it, basically frustrating to type on this thing, anyways this wasn't a entire list but just some ones chosen at random, hope you enjoy ^_^. Sorry for the late response too, kind of hectic at school right before spring break.
Pirating_Ninja Mar 20, 2013 9:06 PM
K so I'll start off with anime, so here are a few anime with a romantic subplot:

- Blue Gender (Seinen, Very old animation so not very sure you will like it however the plot was ok, it is also an action horror with a very conclusive romantic subplot)

- Hakuouki (Shoujo, surprisingly somewhat more gory than your typical action (when factoring shounen in to the equation), and is somewhat darkly toned, the action isn't too bad however their is one downside ... It isn't a reverse harem but definitely has that feel (bunch of "pretty-boys" and one girl, though only one ever has romantic feelings for her, but the romance won't really kick in till season 2.)

- Kage kara Mamoru! (Shounen, a romantic comedy with one of the most troll endings I have ever encounters (actually forgot what the series was so clicked on it and instantly went "Damn you author and your fat trolling!"), not tragic o anything ... just super troll ending)

- Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (Shounen, might qualify as seinen but will leave it at that, anyways it has ALOT of romance in it later on and in the second season, (somewhat liked this), also the character interactions and the web that connected them was pretty interesting, not a huge fan of mecha but actually enjoyed the series and definitely recommend you watch this)

- Onegai Teacher (Seinen, think it might be shounen but oh well, anyways a rather good romance for an anime, did appreciate the conclusive ending, and the fact it is older female teacher x younger male student made the plot very unique for anime (try and think of others like that, hard to do right?))

- Tales of the Abyss (Shounen, clearly based off the game, their is romance however not a great deal of it, just enjoyed it since it was interesting seeing a game I played sort of turned in to an anime)

- Wolf's Rain (Seinen, not too much romance however it is there, a rather interesting anime in general, the animation is slightly older but not too old)

Pirating_Ninja Mar 20, 2013 8:44 PM
yeah the art is ... old, but liked the plot quite a bit ... Anyways I'll make up a list right now so it'll be another 30-90 minutes based on how much manga/anime I have to rec...
Pirating_Ninja Mar 19, 2013 10:15 PM
Yeah saw there were only 3 chapters on it, should definitely check out Red River and Kimi wa Pet, I know both are gonna be hard to get in to (Kimi wa Pet cause of plot and Red River cause of art) but both are definitely worth a read ... Although Kimi wa Pet won't exactly be all happy till later on although having said that it is never really too depressing either. And I'll make a list tomorrow, got caught up w/ school so I'll find some free time and see what I can find.

By the way, started reading Love in the Mask, not the greatest manga for connecting to the characters (the sad events so far haven't really been as sad as they should be) but I love how quickly the plot moves, and the general plot (reminded me I sort of miss more purely action manga/anime (been reading too may shoujo romances lately).
Pirating_Ninja Mar 19, 2013 12:11 PM
Also sorry about taking some time to get back to you about the action/romance list, got 2 midterms today (1 now) but frantically finishing HW and studying so probably won't be until later tonight but I'll try and make it by tonight.
Pirating_Ninja Mar 19, 2013 12:06 PM
Ah that was deceptive! It looked like Kamisama Hajimemashita however it is actually Koyoi, Kimi to Kiss no Chigiri wo, when you have an image of something and can't find the name try dragging the image on to the google images bar and releasing, or right click an image and click "copy image url" and then just ctrl v in google images, that is what I did to find the manga since I haven't read either.

So I just dragged it and then this is the search result you get here (extremely long url since searching images gives you a crap storm of random letters and what not, so decided to rename the url)
Pirating_Ninja Mar 18, 2013 5:22 PM
K I'll make up a list with some good action anime/manga that have a romantic subplot, probably will have more manga for ya since you have seen quite a few anime but might be able to dig up some anime too.

And thank you for the link, definitely gonna check it out.
Pirating_Ninja Mar 18, 2013 4:22 PM
Also just noticed you read "Love in the Mask" (saw on recent updates or w/e a 134/134 and was like 0.o what's this?) anyways it looked interesting and was wondering when the main characters get together (knowing that you don't like love triangles, or atleast major ones) was pretty certain it was rather "safe" in that category and do kind of like longer romances. Anyways sorry if this seems like a random question, just might be interested to read it but like romance dealing with them being a couple over them falling in love and the very ending being a confession, so basically just curious if they start going out well before the end of the manga (like at least 20-30 chapters)...
