I'm honored that you took the time out of your study time to wish me a happy birthday. :-)
I hung out with my friend during my birthday week, so I had fun.
"Best girl" battles? Hmm, since it's only a few episodes, I'll watch it and let you know how it is.
I finished Ping Pong today and rated it a 9. I loved the characters, too! I like both the OP and ED, but the ED is my favorite also. I rec Black Bullet, and another friend told me about The World is Still Beautiful.
My main deal with Maid-sama is how she is supposed to be so badass and yet calls on a guy to save her. I dislike characters like that.
Haha! I saw how Kirito looks like a girl in the profile pic, but I assumed he just had long hair. I confuse a lot of male characters with long hair of being females. If Kirito is indeed a girl, I expect to make fun of Season 2 all the way through. Haha!
I never watched Nisekoi, but I plan to, since a lot of ppl say it's good. Yeah, Pupa was just awful. Golden Time was decent but could've been better.
The two I would rec are Ping Pong and Mangaka-san for sure!
I always get pissed when couples in Shoujo want to take their precious time with the relationship. Those two were shy and really pissed me off. I can tell you that Season 2 finally gets somewhere, even though it doesn't seem like it in the first few episodes.
I like it a lot better, too, but I know I'll get criticized for not giving it a 10. Probably an 8.
Thanks! I loved it the first time. It was just the idea of being trapped in a game that appealed to me, so the enjoyment factor was very high back then. Yep! I'll be watching SAO II next month! Even though I didn't like the first one, I def want to see how they're going to better/worsen it.
Of course I noticed. You're my kawaii kouhai, the light of my life. Don't worry gurl, none of them compare to what we have/had. Don't ask silly questions, you're more than good, you're perfect; 10/10.
I was just being dramatic for the most part, I know you wouldn't ignore my comment. Senpai just wanted to be noticed, ya know.
Also, I wouldn't seriously be serious about that considering I take forever to respond but that's only because I lazy want to ensure that I'm returning the proper amount of love that you put in, so it doesn't seem I don't care or half-assed our conversation. See how much I care. DO YOU SEE? It's unearthly how much I care.
In regards to Marquez's novel, I really do think you will like it, although I might see you liking Love in the time of Cholera more. Once you get about 100 pages in, let me know your initial and developing reactions. I found the novel to be so enthralling. I don't want to establish any sort of pre-set expectations or prejudices so I'll leave it at that.
Yeah, Karamazov is super dense but one of the most enlightening and brilliant novels I've ever had the pleasure of reading (multiple times). If you're interested in my favorite dead guy's works, try out Crime and Punishment first as that's much more easier to grasp and no-less intriguing.
I've read plenty of romance novels but most of them have a tragic undertone of heavy social commentary. I recently read Snow Country by Kawabata which was beautiful. Try these:
1) Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
2) Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
3) Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
4) Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
5) Anna Karenina by Tolstoy
6) Madame Bovary by Flaubert
7) Love in the time of Cholera by Marquez
8) Farewell to Arms by Hemingway
9) Persuasion by J Austen
10) Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas fils
11) An Old -Fashioned Girl by L M Alcott
12) Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo
13) Dr Zhivago by B Pasternak
14) Far from the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy
15) Swan in Love by Marcel Proust
There's a starting point at least.
I can recommend books in other genres at some point as well, but I think to quench your romance thirst, one of those should graciously fulfill the quota. Heart of Darkness is one of those novels that just blows my mind (and not necessarily in a good way). One of the primary reasons being that the tone of the book was seeped in racism that has been argued to reflect the Conrad himself. There are plenty of novels that adopt such tones but to promote literal/narrative consistency and impact, however, with Conrad it very much parallels (some argue, especially Achebe author of Things Fall Apart [great book]) his actual ideologies. Now, that doesn't necessarily devoid the literary merit that is the novel itself, but it's not something I necessarily would celebrate either.
That quote was a joke. I was just being kawaii, God. No appreciation for my awkward sense of humor. Now do you want to read a work of pure philosophy or philosophical fiction (not that those two can't co-exist).
Omg, the perpetual despair that ensues in Punpun is ridiculously beautiful (I know that's not supposed to be, but it truly is)
Finish it already!
I enjoy reading about despair and people suffering, it brings me great pleasure insight? Therefore, your assessment of me being humorously masochistic is invalid <3
I happened to find that img on the net. It seems to be the cover for a... manga or something like that. Here's the tumblrlog and the official page for the whole franchise.
OMGosh, I'm so sorry! I thought I replied to you after all of this time! Btw, I love the changes to your list styles! Very creative..!
Despite being my favorites, 3/5 are not 10s. My favorites are judged based upon purely my enjoyment, and their ratings in my anime list are judged critically. Black Lagoon is the lowest with an 8/10. It's likely that Nagi no Asukara may be replaced once I rewatch ef: A Tale of Melodies, which was my favorite romance before. :P
OMGosh, YES. This season was really good, much better than last season (I see you disliked Pupa just as much as I did. To think I was defending it when it first aired...). However, my opinion changed about them recently. Honestly, I would rec them all that I'm currently watching in my anime list, except Mahouka Koukou. It's awful, and I'm thinking of dropping it than wasting my life with 16 more episodes. Two comedies that really made this season a happy one are Mangaka-san (HILARIOUS!) and Kawai Complex (I was bored with it at first, but it really came around. You may want to try No Game No Life, since it's the hype of the season. I mean, check out the stats!
In reply to your old msg (If you still care):
- I checked stats of the Aria series from my friends, and most of them that I share similar tastes rated it very low after completing the whole thing. Therefore, I'll watch the 2nd episode. If I don't like it, I'll just drop it without rating it.
- Yes! I'm watching a lot more anime now! You're beating me with Punpun! Eh, I'll finish it eventually, but it's a shame that I've been on it for months. :-S

Other than that, what have you been doing?
After my 2 awesome recc's, this is what I get.

- Kimi ni Todoke was sooo good! It was cliché, but it turned away from it stupendously! I was shocked around every corner. Once I get disappointed about smth, they turned it all around. I added Arai as one of my favorite characters. :)
