you are amazing dawg. nice pace lmao. It's hard for me to really have discussions with you without spoiling lmao but let's just say you're about to start one of the best one piece arcs.
also episode 151 was legendary, one of the best episodes for me just because of the amount of content in one episode. We get Luffy one shotting Bellamy followed by the introduction of many IMPORTANT figures + Whitebeard/Shanks/and Blackbeard.
What'd you like more, skypiea or alabasta :P
Also what's the hardest hitting feels moment so far lmao
Yeah despite its plot holes, the film it self stands an achievement in the industry as a motion picture masterpiece. It also predicted that in 2020 we would have the national Olympics which basically is the time line that film takes place in from 2019-2020 and it connects to our current year which is mind boggling when you think about all the political unrest and civil war and plagues we are experiencing currently.
I do recommend you read the manga at some point, the story is far more fleshed out and less confusing, but i can't hardly fault the film for what it is. In its own right its a masterful work among the industry and left such a huge cultural footprint for decades to come.
In any case for Metropolis, anyway is actually fine. I think some fans will recommend subbed. I actually grew up watching it in the dub and i thought it was fantastic. It completely blew me away so if you want my recommendation, i would say watch in English other wise check it out in Japanese to if you like.
If you enjoyed the spectacle that was akira, i also invite you to another masterpiece. A film called Metropolis. Helmed by some of the leading giants of the Japanese animation industry, created by the Japanese godfather of anime "osamu Tezuka"and directed and written by Rintaro. Screenwrittten by Katsuhiro Otomo of Akira. Rintaro also is the founder and CEO president of a studio you may know well *Mad house* who went onto to create some of the greatest pieces of anime productions for years to come with HELLSING ULTIMATE, CHOBITS, TRIGUN, Hunter X Hunter (2011), Monster, black lagoon and one punch man that you have in your avatar.
I also forgot to mention if you do decide to watch any of these films, watch with the recently released blu-ray re-masters or 4k if you have the technology with a nice big TV with surround sound for the ultimate viewing experience. Both of these films stood the test of time and were far far ahead of their time in budget and animation.
With Akira we are actually receiving a recent remake TV series which got to be honest was a rather major surprise to everyone. Perhaps maybe we could get the same sort of quality we come to expect from the manga well also delivering a high budget animation. But i won't hold my hopes up unless some one like whitefox or mad house studio is involved with it. There has been far to many remakes in the industry that have just failed so my expectations are generally low but im still excited seeing as how akira was one of my favorite films as a kid.
With Akira, the dub is fantastic as is the Japanese sub. But with that one i actually prefer the DUB. Its most noteworthy for having the infamous eng actor Jhonny yung Bosch in portraying one of his early roles and what put him on the road to being one of the best male voice actors in anime for decades to follow and is still providing eng voice acting to this day.
Seeing as how your asking me though. Look at a person named "Chitea03" on my profile comments. I wrote alot of stuff and in great elaborate detail so if you fancy a little bit of reading, you can learn alot from our conversation and it might help you in picking some desired series. I also gave him a full comprehensive recommendation list as well. Let me know if you have any questions or particular things you are looking for. I am always willing to help out a fello MAL user. Just be careful of the OP spoilers, they are in their own separate posts though.
Well that really depends on your preferences like I said. I could mention the fact that war ridden drama's that exemplify a dark bleak and epic story based on war, genocide, subjugation and the like would be something of a top contender but if you don't like many sc-FI's or serial space opera drama's, then its not something you would appreciate or in some rare cases certain shows may go over your head if its not targeted towards your demographic and your a kid that grew up with shonen or classic comedy adventure series like pokemon, dragonball and Yu-Gi-Oh.
That being said, mentioning just 2 of my absolute top favorites is just to difficult. I rate things specifically based on genre and i compare other series of specific genre's to that same genre. For example I may think one piece is one of the best shonen series to ever grace the medium due to its void of inconsistencies and shonen tropes that many other series suffer from, but i solely rate it based on the same class of shonen with in that same category. That is why in my opinion, it deserves a 10/10 because out of every shonen out there. Nothing really seems to compare in terms of writing and quality. I don't think comparing something like LOTG which is like a heavily political space opera drama to something like one piece would be a fair accurate critic of that series though. Because shonen and space opera are two different things.
Looking over your list, i can see that you definitely prefer shonen over all but you also have a general appreciation for some seinen series and or Psychological. I would say check out Akira the film if you have not yet. It is an absolute phenomenal portrayal of motion picture animation probably the likes of which you have not seen. Classical animation has not aged very well with its modernization to CGI and digital animation. I really miss CELL animation everything was far more fluid and picturistic. So yeah Akira is pretty neat and you can finish it pretty quick. Outside of that, i would say check out steins;gate. it is a more intelligently driven narrative but the directing and writing is top quality and it seamlessly connects in a very cohesive manner with a satisfying conclusion.
Where did you get this information from, im curious. Specifically with shonen, my favorites probably could be counted on one hand if you are referring to large "battle shonen" series. I would say stuff like One piece, Inuyasha, Full metal Alchemist, shaman king, Yu yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Dragonball (Not DBZ) Naruto would be some of my favorites. Bleach, Hitman reborn, D gray man law of Uueki would be my sort of middle ground and something like Fairy tail would be my least favorite but it all depends on the person I guess. Certainly for me though shonen is not what i considered the pinnacle of quality writing and superb directing and its plagued with so many flaws. Shonen isn't my favorite genre for that reason and I much prefer stuff like "evangelion, LOGH, steins;gate, Ghost in the shell, Macross, ergo proxy, Monster, space cobra, Spice and Wolf, Escaflowne, GaoGaiGar, Tegen Toppa Gurren lagann, Blue Gender, Akira, etc. I do love many other genre's of anime i guess it just depends on what I am in the mood for.
Yeah man, a lot of things you don't expect to come back do end up coming back haha.
Also the pacing is the biggest problem of One Piece. Most people switch to the Manga when they can't stand the pacing but people also get addicted to the show and adapt to the pacing too xD
Alabasta is a great arc but every other arc improves on the previous one imo. Glad to see you're enjoying it :)
Good to hear. Keep me updated every 100 episodes I'd love to hear your reactions to certain reveals. You haven't even gotten to the good shit yet -- there's only greatness from now onwards :P
