Oh, I wasn't undermining your opinion is any way shape or form. Fuck no, in fact, I was once exactly like you. Don't group me in with Mr. Doody. I fully respect what you believe, I just think that'll you will grow out of it and move on.
If Code Geass changed your entire outlook on anime, then prepare for it to be changed over and over again. It's a big world dude.
Roricon fan is being a dick about it, but he's right. The more you watch, the more you will realize just how bad Code Geass, not because it is a stale rehash that has far to much fan service, but because of just how poorly executed it is. Like, Brotherhood is cool and all, but it will be swept under the rug next to Berserk or other shows that are similar that came before.
Both animated and with real people, as for animated, I like the lion king, aladdin, hunch back of notre dome, batman under the red hood and the all star superman.
As for live action movies, Gone with the Wind, Forrest Gump, Million Dollar Baby, Black Swan, king's speech, 2009 star trek and others.
What are your favorites?
I like it for the same reasons you mentioned, I also liked the fact that lelough sacrificed his life to save the world.
Do you like to watch movies, I think they are good.
"Maybe Code Geass was better for me because I hadn't seen all of those things you had already seen when you watched CG, but just because something borrows things from previous works doen't mean it cant be as great as the original. Just look at Star Wars. That used many things from shakespeare and older works but look at it now."
Well that's the thing. The titles I mention and Shakespere are better AS A WHOLE than CG and Star Wars. They don't use shallow fan service or magic eyes to solve their problems.
As life changing as Code Geass was to you, eventually it was an inferior rehash of older anime, such as Legend of Galactic Heroes. Try watching that one, it is far more mature. In a few years you may even realize how Code Geass is hardly “real” anime or even serious in its story and plot.
Also, try to read western graphic novels like Watchmen and V for Vendetta.
