My ANIME Rating System
Don't think anyone is gonna read this but my rating system for TV Series goes something like this.
Tiers for COMPLETED shows
Tier 0: (10 in MAL ratings. 10.0 in my personal ratings (see tags for each show))
Once-in-a-lifetime type of series.
Tier 0b: (10 in MAL. 9.9~9.5 personal ratings.)
Excellent series that have stuck with me throughout the years and I feel emotionally attached to the stories and their characters despite not reaching quite the level of excellence as those shows in Tier 0.
Tier 1: (9 in MAL. 8.5~9.4 personal ratings.)
Excellent series that I would recommend to anyone, beyond the genres.
Tier 2: (8 in MAL. 7.5~8.4 personal ratings.)
Really good series within their genres that were satisfying from start to finish and should be mentioned among the best in their respective genres.
Tier 3: (7 in MAL. 7.0~7.4 personal ratings)
Decent-to-good shows with low replay value that were mostly enjoyable while watching them, but then were forgotten.
Tier 4: (6 in MAL. 5.5~6.9 personal ratings)
Decent series that are kept from upper tiers because of a fatal flaw, generally a botched ending to the series, a bad pace or simply an unoriginal idea.
Tier 5a: (5 or lower in MAL. 0.0~5.4 personal ratings)
Below average shows that I shouldn't have finished and that I'll never revisit.
Tiers for DROPPED shows
Tier 5b: Below average shows that I couldn't finish, but might've done so on a less busy season. (Dropped 5/10s)
Tier 6: Below average shows that didn't hook me in enough to keep watching them, however they do have the possibility to get better with time either due to an original idea, a well written script, good technical aspects, interesting characters or are simply becoming a good-but-unoriginal execution of well known genres. (4/10)
Tier 7: Overwhelmingly mediocre shows. These shows tend to rely on overdone tropes but present zero original ideas. Generally reserved for the garbage Isekai, Power Fantasy Shonen and Harem that most weebs love. (3/10)
Tier 8: Overwhelmingly bad shows that might have one redeeming quality that saves them from the lowest of scores, but are mediocre-to-awful in every single other area. (2/10)
Tier 9: Offensive shows that possess absolutely no redeeming qualities. Everything from the idea of the show, the characters, the script and the visual and technical aspects are bad. These shows were a mistake from start to finish. (1/10)
