I love anime, and consider myself an anime-enthusiast and enjoyer. I don't identify with labels such as "otaku", but they may apply depending on your definition. I greatly enjoy books, movies and games as well, but you could say that anime is my medium of choice. When push comes to shove, this is where I most often turn for a quality experience. There's something very unique about the medium; the combination of fantastic voice-acting, peerless visuals and fabulous storytelling is what keeps me coming back for more.
Other than anime, I'm into playing old, cherished video games, pen and paper roleplaying, spending time with friends and watching movies, horror in particular. I'm also interested in history, nature, mythology/religion and language. Naturally, I also love music. In addition to anime-related music and J-rock, I enjoy game soundtracks, as well as classical music and some metal.
I usually don't add one-episode ovas or short specials (3 minute omake etc) that belong with other series, as they tend to just inflate the list and make it hard to navigate. If I've seen a series, chances are I've seen the accompanying ovas as well, even if the list doesn't reflect this.
Here is an estimation of what my ratings reflect:
10: Masterpiece ~ A sublime jewel, shows that will never truly leave me
9: Fantastic ~ An inspired show, nothing but the best
8: Excellent ~ An overwhelmingly positive show with high quality all around
---
7: Very good ~ A show with several great qualities, often worth re-watching
6: Good (ish) ~ A show which leaves an overall positive impression, worth watching
5: Average ~ A roughly middle of the road show
4: Mediocre ~ Uninspired, lacking in one or more ways, might still be fun
3: Bad ~ Bland and/or offensively stupid
2: Horrible ~ The worst shows end up here, steer clear! Nothing redeemable
1: Abominable ~ Ineffable atrocities (Never given, I've dropped anything I found this bad)
I'll add that simply because I've given something a low rating doesn't necessarily mean I didn't enjoy it, nor does a high rating necessarily mean that I find the show to be flawless and beyond dispute. Anything is up for debate, and I like to think I have pretty thick skin when it comes to people disagreeing with my taste in anime.
My "dropped" list is incomplete, and doesn't include anything I watched less than 1 episode of before giving up on. The accompanying comments are meant to be quips, usually based on no more than a handful of episodes of said show.
I'm not very social on this site, but feel free to leave a message/comment if there's anything on your mind and I'll be happy to answer.

Regardless, hopefully you're doing okay.
Anime Expo is coming up once again, and I'm just jumping in to see if you wanted anything this year? Also would love to chat with you about big site plans and all that (and just general talk too).
Hope you're doing well!
..."Happy birthday!"
Just kidding, but please come online. I NEED TO SEND THIS TO YOU.

don't like Symphogear? :D
how u find sengoku collection to watch? it's nor popular, nor high score anime. maybe wathed it in ongoing?
sao or hack?
And nice to meet you.
Hmm, sometimes I do rate things low, but I end up enjoying them in some way or another. For example, I do not by any means think Pokemon is high art at all--it tends to be repetitive and directionless--butI love it with all my anime-fan-ness. I can't help it; I suspect it's because I loved it as a child which is why I still enjoy it up to now.
Different, huh? Should be worth checking out. Romance has been bogged down by sap and predictability, so a change would be nice...
Hate the lead?? Well, as long as he's not like Yuuichi Tate from Mai-HiME, then I guess it's worth a shot.
I see you're watching Itazura na Kiss. How is that going for you? You don't have a rating, so I can't glean any opinion of yours. It seemed...I am not sure. It didn't have that defining 'oomph', if you may, that would incline me to watch it.
Does it have oomph?
I dunno, I am particularly attracted to anime by character design. Once I think it's good, I will watch the anime regardless of plot. And I end up dropping some :D You know, the whole 'pretty face, empty head' ordeal.
I am inclined to minimalist art styles. Clean lines, simple. For example, I think Mushi-Shi had great character design.
