I don't get why people try to defend overrated anime like KonoSuba.
Sound 5/10. The soundtrack is not good.
Story 6/10. Nothing special or original , no world building. Im on episode 8 and i know nothing about the world other than there's monsters and adventures which are both pretty bad. The quest reward system is retarded and the money is only seen being used for food. The levelling/skill system is lame , unoriginal and boring.
Characters 5/10. You can describe all of the characters with one word and there's no character development or motivation. I know nothing about the characters other that one is a pervert and the other likes explosions. The only character that is somewhat good is Aqua. Also the character designs are lame.
Animation/fights 5/10. The fights are very bad. Episode 6: The enemy hits the main character multiple times with a sword but somehow has no injuries and only her clothes get destroyed. Many plot conveniences and bad writing. The main character knows 1 spell which is the enemy weakness and the walls get destroyed by water which makes no sense. Episode 7: They stare at the enemy for 3min without doing anything and the main character gets killed, gets resurrected anyways with no cost or drawback. Wow great writing. Also the comedy sucks, it consists of Aqua crying about something or the blond girl saying that someone is going to do something perverted to her and wasn't even funny the first time.
Compare this anime to Overlord: Great character design, Great fights and animation , Interesting story , Awesome soundtrack , has character development and character motivation, explores the outside world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra4YD9OxBaA
First, thanks for being respectful instead of just flaming me for a difference in opinion, really appreciate it
I really do need to rewatch Konosuba, it's been four years after all but I THINK this is what I meant while writing
Story:
Yeah for sure, the setup is intentionally bland, I get that. I shouldn't have been so critical of it when clearly the intent was for it to be a parody of those types of series. I was trying too hard to view things from an objective standpoint. I should have talked more here about the humor, and why I thought it got repetitive before the end so while I had enjoyed the early episodes a fair bit, I didn't think it was worth it for the overall mediocrity of the whole package
Art:
I don't believe in animation being 'meant to be bad'. I don't think that my score on the art should have had as much of an impact on overall enjoyment, the expressiveness and wacky moments are there which are present in any standard comedy. I just thought it was that: standard, or maybe slightly better because of the ridiculously meticulous explosion animation
Characters:
This is where I talk a lot more about the comedy being repetitive. On the surface, each character is awesome, and honestly I like them all a fair bit. But in practice, each character only has one or two gags which eventually become boring or even annoying. Basically I was saying the characters didn't do a good enough job of keeping the audience guessing with refreshing jokes and unexpected shenaniganry.
You don't have to read that wall of text if you don't want to. just trying to justify the claims I made as a 14 year old. Kurosawa is AMAZING, I hope you enjoy it :)
Lul, there are some people that still haven't heard of Tokyo Ghoul ? xD
That picture is from the TG manga which is,by the way, amazing. Unlike the anime.
