YES. Isn't Utena just the BEST. <3 You have excellent taste ;)

The nanami filler is filler. But, at the same time, it actually does touch on subjects that the main storyline does, just in a much more tongue in cheek way. For example, that one episode where Touga punches an animal (can't remember what kind) touches on Nanami's brother complex. It's there if you want to look for it.

Not sure about the car to be honest, I'm sure there is a point to it. But, I couldn't wrap my head around everything that happened in Utena. That's one of the reasons why I need to re-watch it.

Well, Utena is called "Evangelion for girls" for a reason. Though they ultimately go in different directions. Like Eva, i'm sure it'll be even better when re-watching it.

If you are hooked now, I can only imagine your reaction to the series as it goes on. I agree that Utena is a good character in the beginning, but as the series went on I really started to respect her. She makes a few mistakes here and there, but she generally faces them head on. To put it one way, she's manlier than the majority of male characters I've seen.

Utena's great stuff. Though, I have to say it is probably the single strangest series I've seen. It was a head trip, no doubt about it, but it was an incredible experience. The whole series is great, but the final 10 or so episodes are phenomenal.

Yeah, I think I did in fact like the second half much more than the first. I liked the darker tone like you said. This is probably the one Gainax ending I wasn't all that crazy for, though. I'll let you see for yourself, but I honestly thought it was too much.

I don't think I ever had much trouble following the plot line, though. But, again, it's been so long that i could have forgotten.

TTGL was a lot of fun, I actually really like Simon as a character. I thought it his transformation from zero to hero was really well done, but I think he was ultimately the only character to really stand out to me, and yeah that includes Kamina. Also, at the time I wasn't into over the top action, though with my recent fandom of One Piece I think I may be more open to the idea. That's why I may re-watch TTGL at some point.

I watched it in Japanese, where all the voice actors returned. I think Rei's English VA died, so they didn't have a choice to change her voice. Though, I think I've heard Gendo's VA is different as well. I think Tiffany Grant still does Asuka's voice, right?

I kind of like how Shinji is turning out, though. I thought he was pretty awesome at the end of 2.22, which is particularly noticeable when someone has seen the original series. If they aren't careful, though, they could run the risk of turning Shinji into a shounen hero type of character and that isn't what I want from Eva to be honest.

I hope Kaworu has more of a role in the last two films, after all episode 24 was one of my favorite episodes and I felt that they did a remarkable job with his characterization and impact on Shinji in just one episode. I've always thought it would have been better to have him in the story much earlier in the series, though.

No, I don't mean just the best Eva movie. I mean, imo, EoE is the franchise at it's absolute best and is easily one of the best experiences I've had in anime.

I've heard all kinds of theories about 3.0 and eyepatch Asuka. Like she's a different person from the one in the movies, as in she's the one from the TV series. Sounds ridiculous, but something like that sounds interesting if it's done right. It's pretty reasonable for her to be banged up and having injuries after what happened in 2.0, but considering she had something covering her eye in EoE...it makes me wonder.

Even if the sequel theory turns out to be bull, I still pretty much consider the movie versions of the characters different characters. Asuka in particular just felt different, and unlike Rei, I wasn't particularly happy with it.
