Oh haha, guess the list tends to pile up over time
I hear Dress-Up Darling got a 2nd season! Double celebration!!
I currently have Fruits Basket on hold but I really need to resume it sometime. Is Fruits Basket your fave 'gentle' series, or one of the 'gentlest' series you've seen so far? It definitely gives off that kinda vibe to me.
Yeah, it's a shame it can be simplified to Roswell's philosophy versus Subaru's in that way.
Dress-Up Darling was a lot of fun though. I never thought I'd end up getting into something like that, but before I knew it, I'd finished all the episodes lol.
I watched the first Jobless Reincarnation episode already but it seemed a bit sleazy and vulgar, but I get that they're trying to portray a middle-aged guy that is a sleazeball/degenerate lol. I guess your recommendation makes me want to give it a few more episodes to prove its worth.
Yeah, with 50 episodes and two OVA mini-movies there's a lot of Re:Zero anime content building up now, and there's more to come by all accounts. Are you much into long series yourself? What's your fave long series?
Yeah, I've completed everything from the Re:Zero franchise now. Both seasons and both OVAs. There were elements of Subaru's character that bugged me/irritated me (although that might have been the intention) and times when it seemed long-winded or too slow, or when the attempted 'humor' fell flat, but there were times when it all clicked or fell into place and it seemed mysterious, beautiful, captivating, or thrilling. The visuals and soundtrack were top-tier throughout and Betty was my favorite. There were some great scenes with her. It got a bit long-winded or overly contrived with some of the dialogue from Echidna I thought, and The Witch of Lust just didn't cut it as a villain, for me. It came across as too childish and pantomime-esq. I do have sufficient interest to want to watch more from the franchise though.
What's Jobless Reincarnation like? I'm a bit curious about it because I keep seeing it in people's favorites.
Also, My Dress-Up Darling was totally like, the most guilty pleasure thing for me. The parody of the magical girls' genre was funny and really told it like it is, and it was nice to gain an insight into Japanese otaku and cosplay culture. It was quite amazing how seriously they took it and what lengths they'd go to - to most accurately and authentically portray the character they were cosplaying. Now hold my eye tape steady while I attach this false nose.
