I'll get more and more up and scored this week ^^
I think the main issues I have are that Age is abit too simple of a character, clearly leaning on a child like innocence perspective among all this war and I get what they are trying to do with that but it's just not very engaging for a lead character/hero.
Also the villians of this show are boring, or more that we just don't know enough about them. Basically there are these completely characterless Space ants thrown at our heroes like cannon fodder. Then the Silver Tribe behind them who we know literally nothing about other than they want to kill humanity. In fairness the show is currently addressing exactly this where I am, questioning the Silver Tribes motives and acknowledging that humanity doesn't know anything about them. So I guess that is just the plot but it's not great. Oh and there are these princes that are just snobby and war mongering and incredibly cliche. Anyway I probably said too much.
I wanted to try the show again after enjoying other Xebec shows like Fafner (thanks again for the rec!) but yeah this show just ain't great. You won't like it anymore a second try I suspect.
But hey at least the Angela Opening is great...but then of course it is lol
DBZ is a slog to say the least. It's fun but its popularity outweighs how good it actually is imo, I feel like alot of the fandom is generated by a nostalgia wave that washes over the community again and again. Then new fans find themselves swept along too if that makes any sense. As if a large part of DBZ's popularity is because those who love it scream the loudest of the Shonen fans lol. Anyway not sure what I'm on about anymore so moving along lol.
Wonder Egg Priority looks interesting, I liked the key visual alot and I've seen some screenshots of the more dark elements it has. Definitely a series I want to watch eventually.
Mainly been watching abit of everything here and there of late. Some rewatches, some modern stuff I've missed and more OVAs. Finished that Hanada Shounen-shi show which was just incredible. It had so many emotional stories, epsecially in the second half. A special series that one.
Yeah, Richard Epcar is great, i'm a big fan of his work in Ghost In The Shell :D
BUT the 10 episode OVA series has matched those expectations, it's surprising how much better it is. I'm absolutely loving it and I'm sad that it's only 10 episodes. I hope Dirty Pair Flash despite being a reboot has a similar style of story telling. Have to wait and see...
Iruma-kun is pretty funny so you'll probably like it. I have to catch up on that and Ahiru no Sora! The first episodes interested me enough c:
I wonder how the anime for Beastars will turn out! I watched the OP, and the art style that they used for it is really amazing actually. Haven't seen any clips of the actual show though, so I'm wondering how the CG held up!
Man you are on a tirade of finishing Anime right now haha! Kino is certainly a great show, I do enjoy episodic shows much more than I used to and especially those in the style of Kino's Journey. It sort of reminds of a series of folktales in a weird way but all centered around one girl and her talking motorbike lol.
Grimoire of Zero is such a good show, thrilled to hear you enjoyed it also. It's just a superb bit of Fantasy Action and Story with really strong characters. Just scratches all the right itches that show, it was everything I wanted it to be.
I'm about to settle back into some classic Anime with the Dirty Pair franchise this week. Took it slow on the Anime front the last week as I've had a bunch of computer problems but it's pretty much all fixed now thankfully :)
