i do speak it often, it ended up being a custom in our family, or more like between siblings, since we'd go to the philippines and then back here, having to switch back to italian and tagalog is tiring and overwhelming, and english was what felt "stable" and comfortable, its what we know the most of bc the internet is always here for you no matter the country, and because its neither of them...
i was born here and i raised here but i usually avoid typing in italian since im not as confident about it anymore, ive been talking to a friend more and more to get back at it, and whenever i would forget words i would switch to english, then italian or tagalog, words seem to come and disappear and so goes on, ive definitely lost contact with it, but im very certain its mostly because of my personality and just experiences, my cousin was raised here too and hes amaziing with italian and english, the same goes with a classmate who was in my same situation
how about you? does your mind kind of get jumbled up and overwhelmed by multiple different languages? do you prefer english over italian when speaking it irl?
also about the accent thing, i dont think youre being any of that, its just your way of perceiving it and what youre used to. suddenly hearing them talk to english but its not the right intonation and pronunciation is bound to bother you if youre raised bilingual, or when it sounds different, and if youre very immersed in english media
at the same time their way of speaking is what theyre used to as nonbilinguals;; some people can find it charming and fun, while for others it can be the opposite, and my sis feels the same way as you do! each person got their perception of things that makes them...... them. or rather you! so its necessarily a bad thing
especially since you dont mind accents in the first place
hii! thanks for reaching out, this is such a unexpected yet fun and interesting question!
i know a lot of people who speak english often, and usually prefer it/including myself;;
it can feel a bit cringe at times esp in shows and it just happens out of nowhere and they speak it really extravagantly then go back to italian... its kinda funny and somehow addicting
i watched inside out 2 with my little sister and her friends in the cinema last year, i think?
and there was.. too much slang.. i was surprised by how much there was, i was wondering if there were parents or kids who didnt understand what they were saying or couldnt fully enjoy it, and i felt bad..
but then again its fine as long as the animation made the kids happy and the family bonded;; and the target audience is mostly english-speaking kids and teens
..it does really bother me that younger generations overuse slurs for fun or "to be cool/funny" or they dont understand what it means or the impact those words do
but- overall im mostly glad theres such an exposure of it now, there were many awkward teens who were into things that werent mainstream in here and felt like outcasts, it feels comforting to randomly hear english audios/songs u know while on the bus, it feels like we're all more united
it brings light to different languages, encouraging people to learn and grow curious abt them, or its just a reminder that people who have different nationalities are in italy and that you arent alone in this
so i personally think its cool, we're adapting, accepting and keeping up with the times, and i find it sweet when people have genuinely fun speaking it or try to understand english or when they interact with ppl of other countries then get all excited
knowing english is helpful for everyone in the long run
i get surprised coming across italians here in mal but its a happy kind of surprise
I don't really know about all that, but a lot of greek myths seem to just be their explanations of the natural world.
they... threw him off a cliff?
the labyrinth of versailles... seems like a pretty nice place, too bad it's gone now
I guess you answered your own question lol
idk, religion would definitely have had some play into it though, if I've learnt anything from studying european history. that, and all other cultures were really just savages that had to be educated in what the world really was like, weren't they?? π
sounds exactly like the church!
they were definitely into something, probably why it's so discouraged in the first place π€
thank you very much (β δΊΊβ β •Νβ α΄β •Νβ )
I'm always up for that! besides, one has to use critical thinking for almost every piece of media they consume, especially in these days.
you'd be making 365k if you're at it every day
conservatively, if you factor in weekends and vacations, mb 280k or more?
without tax..? that sounds like a dream π
probably really unsustainable though :/
bakery --> bread???
so,,, it's "freshly baked"? π
nah, this is what bread looks like π
*I THINK you meant to say that it has a styrofoam-like texture and structure, and a butter after taste from the leavening that they desperately try to cover up with spoonfuls upon spoonfuls of sugar, right?
that's terrible! wdym you haven't been exposed to the workers of rice?? pulao, kheer, tteok, congee, mochi, etc
all made of rice! and then we have the different varieties of rice grains: white, brown, red, black...
and you can't forget it's most basic form as the main substance of the meal
although, pumpkin and cheese with rice isn't something I've ever heard of
is it good?
on a side note, I happen to be learning Italian :0
