Hey. Thanks for accepting my friend request! I didn't actually expect to get the approval, given the lack of acquaintance of any kind. So, that definitely came as a surprise. You must be wondering why I sent the request in the first place. No ground breaking reason actually. I came across some post of yours during one of my occasional visits to the forums and I found the comment interesting. Thought there's no harm in sending a FR. And that's pretty much it.
Sorry for the delayed response. Had been in a reading slump lately. But slowly getting out of it. I gather you're not much of a manga reader?
For me the situation didn't change much. Actually I would dare to say that this virus came exactly at the right time. I had lot of tests and such at school and they closed exactly before they began, so yeah I'm fine don't worry ^^
Rome may be a beautiful city on the historic aspect (So monuments, museums etc.). But holy fuck, it's dirty as hell. And that's definitely not the only problem.
Italy had always tons of political issues (Pretty much every politician here is ridiculous lol), and the management of Rome is terrible.
Sadly I've started to hate Italy and Rome (which is a shame since actually is a pretty beautiful country) because honestly I'm really done with this place. Since I was born there were several political figures that said big words about "cleaning the whole capital!!" but 15 years passed and the situation is just worse lol.
The only place that will always be an exception of the hate for the country is Venice which is simply too beautiful to hate, it is definitely the best city I've ever visited in my life.
Btw, actually it depends, I'm pretty sure that during summer there are few romans because they go on vacation, but more tourists, while during winter there are less tourists and more romans.
If I were in you I would probably visit during Winter months because it is overall peaceful for a tourist (also you would avoid the fucking heat in Rome which is so terrible that you can't breathe).
One of the many reasons that have made me read Proust is that I have heard his novel come closest in the western literature to the japanese concept of „mono no aware”, the aesthetic of impermanence, which trope almost all of my favourite anime series and movies have in common. An other reason was the influence of A la recherche du temps perdu on one of my favorite japanese movies, Love Letter, in which Proust's book not only appears physically but his theories of recollection had a great influence on the novel too on which the movie is based.
RoV is literally a feminist's wet dream. Almost every woman in the show has the potential to be an evil mastermind provided she gets a buck load of money. Literally 99% of the male characters are borderline idiots, only used by said women or are just shafted out. The ones who are good enough aka Andre, Fersen are either given a very very minimal role or just ignored.
For what?
For the court drama. And by drama I mean usually two women involving in an ego fight while the entire court are so ridiculously black and white and basically act as cheer leaders for their side. Someone said to me that the politics in the show is almost LoGH-esque. Good lord.
The show is entertaining and probably the ultimate hot and cold anime there is. A great episode is usually followed by a drab one. I'm at episode 26 and ain't I pleased that the revolution is finally starting. The show still can be great given the episodes left but I feel disappointed already given its immense reputation.
I did feel the same way about Tutu until episode 19/20. I do think that the final 5-6 episodes (which were ridiculously good. Like all of a sudden the producers decided to make a masterpiece) kind of narrows the gap between it and Utena. Nonetheless, Utena is superior anyday. The only advantage that Tutu has is that it does explain everything in the final two episodes, while Utena let the viewers interpret a lot of things rather than providing all the answers. I remember taking ages to get to the first 10 episodes of Tutu. Its indeed quite slow. I think one major problem with Tutu is that some of the episodes focuses on characters who are literally forgotten after one episode. Utena was much more compact in that aspect and made even the repetitive parts enjoyable.
I love the music when Edel makes an appearance. Hell Tutu's use of classical music makes LoGH's looks like a collaboration from a punk band....
I'm actually thinking of re-watching Tutu again. Despite its flaws, (particularly the initial segments of the second half which were such a chore), the final 6-7 episodes were just fuckin brilliant. Quite how the show managed to skyrocket the level of excellence in the final segment is beyond me.
Here's hoping RoV does something like that too lol
I blame the sparkles....
Melodrama with sparkles is such a deadly combo. Plus from the first 16 episodes all I've learned is that literally all aristocratic ladies bar Oscar are super naive, super bitchy and somehow all have the potential to turn into super villains..
The show's really entertaining though. Plus I'm excited to see the revolution begin. I must confess I was expecting to see some LoGH level politics but oh well...
Tutu is literally the best gateway to Tchaikovsky's music lel
