10 - Masterpiece: My personal favorite show/arcs of all time. To be a 10 for me requires not only fantastic objective qualities like characters, plot, pacing etc. it also has to resonate with me on a personal level. I never really understood the idea of giving out a ton of 10s and I believe a 10 ranking should be reserved for your absolute favorite and maybe some parts of certain shows. I mean, if you gave a show a 10 yet find other shows better, in my opinion that just sounds redundant. I find that very VERY few shows have ever done this and I recommend every living being to watch what I give a 10.
9 - Amazing: Absolutely stunning shows and ones that created a watching experience I will never forget. Anything I give a 9-10 are my all time favorites and highly recommend, the 10’s just simply impacted me the most.
8 - Great: 8 is the highest you can get on my ranking by simply just being a good show. Everything past 8 requires extreme personal attachment and intrigue. Many shows in 8/10 I found either excel in characters, writing, plot etc. but lacked some sort of personal investment or vice versa. They are very good shows that just lack slightly in one of those 2 categories.
7 - Average: This is what I find to give majority of the anime I watch. 7 is around an average rating for me and it's a toss up of whether I recommend watching or not. Some are very shallow 7's while some are very strong 7's. This is the middle line that separates the good anime (8-10) from the garbage (1-6). Think middle ground anime that disappointed and impressed me equally or equally lacked both disappointment and being impressive.
6 - Below Average: Anime that pretty much put me to sleep while watching it. Bland, boring, and eye-rolling.
5-1 - Bad: I wasted my human lifespan watching these and I want that time back.
The funniest comedy anime I've ever watched/read. Most comedy anime are extremely dry and never make me laugh but Grand Blue was the rare exception. Where the fuck is Season 2.
The most wholesome show I've ever seen. It's a show that you chill out on during the weekend and watch. Never vibed with a series as much as Usagi Drop. (Yes I am referring to just the anime, the manga doesn't exist trust).
I loved the shock elements of Devilman. Many shows like to censor their content but Devilman throws the entire concept of censorship out of the window. It's short, sweet, sends you on the ride of a fucking lifetime and leaves you with a "What the fuck was that... I loved it" feeling.
Easily the best fantasy show I have seen. It is a travesty that this show isn't talked about more when people bring up the best of new gen. Go. Fucking. Watch. It.
A hilarious space comedy that anyone can get into. It also has the same animators who did One Punch Man S1 just saying. Also Dandy > Cowboy Bebop as a space show go cry about it.
If you are still hesitant to watch Beastars because of the "furry" shit, trust me, I was the same. Then I watched it and hated the me before watching it for ever thinking such a sin.
I really didn't think this show was very much but the Disappearance Of Haruhi Suzumiya made the payoff 100% worth it. Honestly, watch the show just so you can experience the movie.
I loved Parasyte. It doesn't cut any corners but never drags along either. It knows the story it's trying to tell and gives it to you on a silver platter. The characters, the parasites, everything about the show makes me love the seinen genre.
Whether you are a fan of the show or not at the end of the day, it really does have objective quality. While I will never agree with people when they say this is the best show of all time, it definitely deserves majority of the spotlight its been given.
A show that I think deserves way more recognition. A series about an ex gang member teaching students meaningful life lessons in a hilarious and meaningful way. Truly one of the classics.
The suspense of this show is fucking intense. While it was a bit slow burning at times, the looming threat that is Johan will always keep you on your seat from start to finish.
Vinland Saga is one of the few new gen shows that I think can stand up there with the classics in a couple of years. The historical aspect of this show is done perfectly and the matureness this series gives off really makes it stand out.
Chainsaw man didn't really sell me because of it's story but because of it's mystery, chaos, and uniqueness. I like the setting and the writing that's pretty much it.
yeah the animation was crazy, hmm i was looking at your profile and noticed you don't like ghibli films. Maybe that's where we are different in taste. Chainsaw man is written like a movie, not an anime. For me, I like that. What do you think? I do agree with you on most of the mid shows you have on your list too
Sorry for not noticing that you had read the manga. I am curious however if you wrote your review before reading the manga and if so has your perception changed?
As someone with the same favorite anime, I am disappointed by your review of chainsaw man. Imagine if people made a review about Evangelion after the first 3 episodes. They would think it is just a generic mecha with an annoying protagonist. I think your perception of Chainsawman will change as the story progresses. You say it is another shonen, but as someone who read all of Chainsawman it is so far detached from traditional shonen that I find it difficult to even call it one. Anyways I just think u should keep more of an open mind going forward. That is all.
MAN I LOVED YOUR REVIEW ON CSM, PEOPLE OVERHYPIN THIS OBVIOUS STORY AND DENJI SHOULD BE DEAD IN FIRST EPISODE, NOWS HE BECOME SO STRONG PEOPLE IS SO HAPPY LIKE BRAIN DEAD, NOW DENJI WANTED A BOOB AND WANTIN TO BE A HAREM GUY DUD. THIS ANIME IS LIKE A COPY OF JJK, DEMON SLAYER FROM THE START, WHERE THEY REALLY WANT TO LIVE A NORMAL LIFE BUT THEN PUT IN A POSITION WHERE HE HAS TO FIGHT DEVILS. LETS BE HONEST GUYS ANIME CHAINSAWMAN IS SUCKS NOW ITS ONLY GOOD IN A MANGA. YOU BETTER WATCH INUYASHA FOR BETTER STORY AND BEST CLASSIC ADAPTATION
> I just don't get it. Why do people hype the most basic concepts of shows and throw them on a pedestal of being one of the greatest, when it is so far from so it hurts.
It makes them feel special when they think vanilla is the best flavor
