Yea valid that you believe that 9s and 10s should be used. There were many animanga that I was close to rating a 9, such as Tatami Galaxy and Oyasumi PunPun but part of me decided that I couldn't pull through LOL it gives me the incentive of reading or watch more stuff that is not mainstream though by downplaying certain aspects as im rating, as popular =/= good

Oh I just realized that you also criticize the fact that many believe 7 is the average lmao

I first decided to adapt to this rating system when I was 16 and considered all my ratings "objective," and disliked the fact that 7 was the norm for an average anime.

I still continue it because it makes anime/manga that are an 8 and above much more meaningful to me personally. I have an account where I base the ratings off purely enjoyment instead of my own analysis of writing. For instance 5 is I did not necessarily like or dislike it, 6 is I kind of liked it, 7 is I liked it, 8 is I really liked, etc.

Very different approaches to rating but I enjoy it, my affinity is quite high with that account but there are few instances where even if I enjoy something i rate it lowly here
