Don't worry about it man. You didn't sound like a ass. Yeah, a lot of people refuse to point out the flaws in their favorite anime, but I think that admitting the flaws in the anime actually showed that you truly understand the anime. Going back to Gintama (second favorite anime, first is Monogatari), you should really restart it especially because the next 3 arcs are all serious arcs. Kintama and Courtesan of the Nation are two of the best arcs in all of Gintama. After those arcs it gets kinda slow until the last 20 episodes of the 4th season. Anyways it was nice to talk to you about the Monogatari franchise, see ya!

I'm going to finish the conversation on the Kaguya-sama forum here because it went down the rabbit hole from the original topic. Firstly, The comedy is entirely subjective, so it's impossible to defend someone else's humor, so I won't talk about that. Next, I'm a ban wagon who hopped on the show due to the rise in popularity in the anime community and the viral Chika dance ed. I'm a big fan of seinen manga such as Kingdom, Berserk, and Vinland Saga. When I heard about a romance manga publishing on Young Jump (a seinen magazine that Kingdom runs on), I had to check it out. I've been reading Kaguya-sama for a couple of years, and I was probably the one who peer pressured my friends into watching the 1st season. When discussing Monogatari, you are correct. Shinobu is a side character at the beginning and Araragi character progression was throughout the entire story, but the same applies for Kaguya-sama. People think that Miyuki (the president) has underwent little development so far in the anime, that's not entirely true. We see him trying every moment to better himself such as volleyball and singing. This may not look like much, but this plays an important event in his character arc. We are slowly getting to his character arc (similar to Araragi owarimonogatari moments). I can't go in depth about his character without spoiling the manga, but if you don't care then tell me next time. You made the exact same point that I did, side character don't have character development until their actual character arc. Shinobu was a side character until 2nd season. She made small cameos throughout Bake and Nise, but she never underwent character development until 2nd Season (i know that kizu was meant to be before bake, but I watched monogatari in release order). Similarly, Ishigami (depressed dude) also played a side character role until his character arc that's going to occur at the end of 2nd season. So there is character development, it's just a build up. Next up are the anime we mentioned. Berserk and Gintama are both heavily character driven after the Eclipse arc and Benizukara arc as we get to explore the emotionally broken Guts and Gintoki. Gintama is a character driven story especially during the Shogun Assasination - Silver Soul Arc. I don't know if you gotten to the 3rd season of Gintama, but the comedy aspect of Gintama is put on the side for character development. I used these shows maindlyto show the slow progression of characters similar to Kaguya-sama.

Later in your reply you mention the depth in the supporting cast. Well they're called the supporting cast, but I think that Kaguya-sama does develop Hayasaka well in the manga tho. To be fair the romance had progress a bit considering it has only 17 episodes so far, and the romance arc already occurred
a little more than half-way in the manga. To be fair I do think that the first season of Kaguya sama is overrated as well as the current season because they haven't gotten to any serious arcs yet, but for some reason the rating is a 8.82. I was expecting a 8.82 rating after the serious arc, but now I'm excited to see the score once it gotten to the 1st serious arc in the anime. I could go on defending Kaguya-sama, but that requires me to dive into the spoiler territory.
PS: Ignoring Kaguya-sama, I just realize are taste are pretty similar
