Glad to know theres someone else that shares a birthday with the prophet muhhameds incarnate Kanye west
Even though I liked the early arcs of the Yu-Gi-Oh manga where a variety of games and events were used to thwart evil-doers, I was surprised by how totally fine I was with the transition to strictly Duel Monsters and how quickly it won me over. What can I say, Takahashi was a great writer and storyteller! Oh my gosh, that Singapore dub! And here I thought 4Kids was impossible to take seriously, lol! I actually haven't watched Season 0 yet, but I'd like to down the line because it's short and seems like an entertaining time despite obviously being an imperfect adaptation. Also, the OP is a banger!
Thank you so much for those bite-sized reviews! They made me more excited to get into those anime, and heavily reinforced my desire to watch Captain Tylor, Azumanga Daiou, and Excel Saga LOL!
I'd be super down to watch something together in the future, as that sounds like a really fun idea! Send me a message if you want to communicate on a more convenient and direct platform because I'm also on Discord!
A happy December to you too! I plan to have a fairly chill Christmas time with my family and friends like usual. Just gonna relax and have fun with the time off in-between semesters. Do you have anything planned?
I strongly agree that the Old Testament exists primarily as a collection of historical information to provide context rather than something we should imitate ourselves, although there are certainly occasional examples of figures worth learning from when it isn't just focusing on how the rest of the world was so disobedient to Christ, lol. Throughout my life, I've been taught and reminded to never analyze a passage of scripture without analyzing the surrounding passages as well in order to properly understand the context, which is why I share your unethusiastic feelings toward the practice of "bible bingo" and other ways of finding verses to imitate without trying to understand what they actually signify.
Okay, do not hold back on me with your Yu-Gi-Oh fandom! Having consumed and adored the manga and DSOD this year, I will be happy to discuss anything of the series as long as it's under the umbrella of what Kazuki Takahashi's personal vision was, so none of the post-DM era spin-offs similarily to how you see it. I think Kaiba's desire to continue his rivalry with Atem in DSOD stemmed from the fact that in the manga, which DSOD follows, he didn't actually see Yugi beat Atem because he left the story at the end of Battle City and therefore didn't believe that Yugi had surpassed him and was his ultimate target. Not knowing that Yugi had become the superior duelist was likely why Kaiba was so fixated on fighting the Pharaoh in particular again, and also probably still wanting revenge for putting him through the "experience of death" penalty game early in the manga, lol. I haven't touched the card game myself because it seems way too overwhelming to get into at this point and the time/financial commitment that it would require for me to feel confident would not be worth it, haha. However, I still want to try my hand at some of the DM era video games like the ones included in the Early Days Collection that comes out next February (you should seriously check it out, I'm going to get it on Steam) and I also enjoy watching certain gameplay videos of the card game like these ones, https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYBWvWJ3FUxSxxypg3ql6KCrQwvkx0uyH&si=vjOMrON_xMJ8Prg3
Cat's Eye is pretty dang fun and I'm quite enjoying it, but I would only recommend it if you're looking for a light comfort watch. Despite the indication of an overarching storyline being what fuels the series, it's really episodic for the most part and I hear that it didn't actually follow the conclusion of the manga which apparently provided a real ending. However, I still think it's worth watching if you just want something lighter to consume with fun characters and vibes (oh the vibes!) There's also a crossover movie with Lupin III that came out last year AND a remake was just announced so it's a good time to be a fan!
After taking a much better look at your Anime and Manga lists, because I was only really familiar with the stuff we have in common, gosh dang you've seen so many series that I want to watch lol! Ashita no Joe, Azumanga Daiou, FLCL, FMA:B, Legend of the Galactic Heroes!!!, GS Mikami, Excel Saga, Monster, Captain Tylor, Cromartie High School, Vampire Hunter D, and maybe even Super GALS, lol! Aaaah, I can't wait!
(in case it wasn't obvious, I'm still in an early stage of anime/manga consumption)
Your new name doesn't sound too happy... :c
I've been doing fine,
going with the flow of things:
have a party to go later today,
excited, but a bit scared, happy
to see my friends after a long while.
