Rikka probably lost to Juvia for a few reasons. One, even though my intention is for people to vote for the girl they think is the hottest looks-wise, most people insist on voting for characters they know. I know a lot more people who have watched Fairy Tail than Gridman. Two, Juvia has had a solid fan base for quite a while and Rikka is only just getting popular now. Three, Juvia is a crazy yandere and yandere characters are also really popular.

Looking at your anime list you have multiple anime rated higher than DitF as well. xD

But yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll watch, just gotta make time for it. I look forward to experiencing what's so polarizing about it.

To say it's such a strong favorite because of the communal aspect is... strange, IMO. Wouldn't that apply to all sorts of anime? Like Bunny Girl this season, among others. And I don't spend a lot of time on reddit nor am I a part of any serious anime discord servers, so that's not a serious motivating factor for me (although if you know of any quality but kind of small anime servers I would be interested :). And even if that were the case, I think people are more-or-less done talking about DitF at length, so I wouldn't get that sort of participation... doesn't that mean I wouldn't enjoy it as much?

hahaha, I find it amusing DitF is the only other show "worthy" of being in your favorite anime list next to Bleach... I'm considering watching it. What did you like so much about it that gave it such an esteemed position?
