Hmm... Well then the only thing I can really think of is Ga-Rei: Zero.

Good luck!
Laraso Oct 20, 2012 8:04 PM
Really? I find that surprising, because one of the things most people praise Jigoku Shoujo for is its artwork.

Is it the art style, or quality of art (or both) that you're picky about?
Laraso Oct 20, 2012 7:48 PM
Do you update your list? It didn't say you had already watched Seitokai Yakuindomo.

I don't know if you've already watched them or not, but perhaps you could try Mirai Nikki or Jigkou Shoujo.

While not technically a horror anime, Ga-Rei: Zero might also be worth watching.

EDIT: As for Jigkou Shoujo, I'd only recommend season one and season two. Season three was very different from the first two seasons, and isn't worth watching in my opinion.

Hmm, perhaps you could try Seitokai Yakuindomo. It has good production quality (good art and a great soundtrack).

Well, for starters I'd recommend "Welcome to the NHK!". It's got all the elements of a psychological anime (my favorite kind of anime), but it's got a healthy amount of romance too, which it says is your favorite.

Chobits is another good romance anime, you should probably check it out.

For comedy, Azumanga Daioh is pretty good.

Those anime are fairly old (2006-ish), so if it's good artwork you're looking for, they might not be the best. I didn't have any problems with the art when I watched them, though.

Yeah, I think the first season turns off a lot of viewers from watching the second season, which is a shame because the first season is basically just a setup for the second season.

No problem, I'm happy to help. I can understand why you don't like anime with lots of stories, but I'd still recommend watching the second season anyway.

Season two of Higurashi does not have nearly as many story arcs as the first season, and the ones that it does have are all linked to each other. Season two switches to the viewpoint of Rika Furude, and goes very deep to explain all of the questions that were raised in the first season.

Even though you didn't like the first season, you may still be able to watch and enjoy the second season.

Just ask me if you have any more questions about Higurashi!

Hey, I saw your post that got locked on the forums and decided to help you out.

As the others have said, the best way to figure it all out is by watching the second season. In case you still wanted direct answers, I provided them below.

Q) why could that maggot come out from Rena's neck ?
A) Since this isn't really a plot spoiler, I did not include it in a spoiler tag. What Rena is suffering from is called formication. Formication is a potentially dangerous sensation that can actually be experienced in real life. Rena is experiencing it because of the Hinamizawa Syndrome.
Wikipedia article on Formication

Q) what is the truth behind satoshi's missing ?
A)

Q) the truth behindsonozaki family ?
A)

Q) the truth behind Furude ?
A) This answer contains massive amounts of spoilers, so read this at your own risk.

Q) how could Keichi remember his fault at the final arc ?
A)
