The OP of the Gundam OVA is pretty nice as you said. I don't know if it's just Gundam or how old it is, but the OVA wasn't that interesting for me and the characters didn't have the time to be fleshed out from that alone. If it involved more of the Gundam or space factor that would be cool, but it was too rare in my opinion.
I was a little nervous to recommend Choujin X (and it was certainly a little biased lol), yet whenever I see that someone enjoys Tokyo Ghoul, but tends to like a little more weird stories, I can't help but see an opportunity to recommend! And I completely understand, I also tend to slowly progress through a lot of publishing manga simply due to the amount of completed stuff I still need to finish.
I'm so glad to see that you have been enjoying the recommendations! I figured that if you liked weird stories, you'd also love more rare/unique stories, so I'm so glad Metamorphose no Engawa was perfect. I genuinely never would've guessed elderly characters were something you enjoyed, but they are so rare in media that I also seriously enjoy when they appear (and aren't purposely meant to be evil). I don't read too much slice of life, but I really remember that one sticking out to me due to the shortness of it and the friendship that blooms between the two main characters. It was seriously refreshing!
Kaijuu no Kodomo honestly felt like a fever dream while reading it. I felt like I was getting whiplash, as one second I felt the plot would be heaving in one direction, but suddenly there would be another odd discovery and it would quickly turn in a different direction. It felt like the weirder the path it could take, it kept taking it! The art was stunning and oddly horrifying. Like you said, the children certainly have that "Thousand-yard stare" that just leaves you so unsettled. I think the ending will leave you pleasantly surprised even though it is still on theme with the story :)
You're welcome and I also hope you had a wonderful time, and no worries about long comments!!
Second... i took an hour and a half to choose your gift because i spent 30 MINUTES, at the damn spoilers thingy JAJJAAJAJAJAJAJ i'm the cat that got killed by curiosity (it was a fun time spent tho)
Out of that tho; i'm so glad that you have enjoyed my gift is an anime i deeply enjoyed and felt like it would fit you without being something classy or super famous. Winter woods seems so promising to me i'm so eager to start it, hope it's really good. About issho; god i love it, it's the classic braindead comedy with very lovable characters that i love. I hope you end up liking it as much as i did.
Once again nice to meet you and hope that we can share more animes in the future! <3
