i hope ur doing well man .^.
fancy seeing you out here!! ^-^
i used to go by the same username lol, it was DarkFlame Hawk back in 2007, really nostalgic.
anyways, than for acceting the FR & hope ya have a nice day!!
And in the last 2 seasons I've managed to have at least one happy anime to watch(first Mahoujin then Net-juu) in pair with a more fucked up or depressing anime (before Made in Abyss, and now Houseki no Kuni)
I've heard good things about Magi, I'm more likely to go read the manga than the anime, will keep that in mind for when I'll have the time to read all those 369 chapters. Good things it's finished.
Instead some critics are being very harsh on Zetsuen no Tempest, the random citations of shakespear is something I had heard being talked about also while it was airing. That's one of the reasons I disliked Makishima from Psycho Pass :/ he looked so unfairly lucky for an antagonist, and the cocky attitude didn't help.
Agree on that view of fantasy/adventure, they are adventure before everything else and adventure must progress to a goal, they can't spend too much time explaining everything, it's better to discover things while the adventure progresses.
I'm watching Mahoutsukai too, wonder where the story will go with so many episodes ahead, each episode has a nice fill of lore, what is worrying me are the supposed enemies, and the use of tension, the only proper bad guy was the mage in the flashback of the cats rite abnormality, the others looked awkward so far.
It was a curious movie since it had an huge shift from the usual feel, where the main serie is cheerful and silly, while the movie was absurdly dark.
I usually like fantasy/adventure and comedy, but it has started to become hard finding good ones lately, the ones with a good worldbuilding or a solid setting which allow for detailed speculations about how the world of the story works.
So I'm starting to like over the top shows, which have all the elements of my favs but without much or any background, just pure action or randomness. (Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita is a good example of a random show I liked, but which had almost no background)
What about you? What were you watching before getting into psychological?
Mindfuck+psychological?
One Piece Movie 6 is pretty messed up.
Kaiba is also interesting, but it may be a bit confusing because it relies on sci-fi tropes and it doesn't explain anything.
Mawaru Penguindrum is an other good one. It's as symbolic as Mononoke.
Rokka no Yuusha doesn't have much mindfuck, but it's a nice thriller, just with a not too great final.
