Been watching anime for too long, but for a medium filled with fanservice, casual abuse and Isekais, I love it too much.
I think I've watched seasonal anime on and off since Spring 2016, but I've forgotten how long it's been at this point.
Most of the scores I give are based on personal enjoyment and subjective enjoyment, rather than how objectively good the show is. That being said, I believe that a lot of the shows I feel are really good are at least worth a try, to form an opinion on them. My rating system is a paraphrased version of MAL's which I feel is unclear in describing shows.
I really believe in using the entire scoring system for ranking shows, and not just 7-10 for good shows and 6-5 for all bad shows (like I see a majority of people doing on MAL), since that's ignoring half of the entire scale of grading a show, and this isn't a test in which you have to give shows a passing grade of above a 50%.
10 - A Masterpiece. Stuff which pushed the boundaries of what I thought was even possible from fiction/art. Every show in this category likely affected me my moral mindset in someway or another. A show that I believe, represents a small aspect of humans in a beautifully perfect way.
Fate/Zero
Oregairu
Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju
9 - Excellent. Every show here was memorable even over the timespan of years, and even though I dislike rewatching shows, I gave a few of them a rewatch. These shows are polished and extremely enjoyable. A show can also earn a place here if it personally affected me in some small way.
Bunny Girl Senpai
Bungou Stray Dogs
91 Days
8 - Unique. It had multiple aspects of being 9+, but there was just one thing such a crack in immersion or a plot point not reaching quite up to mark as I had expected it to. Still, these shows were one of a kind.
Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
Great Pretender
Oresuki
7 - Exceptional. Shows from this point onwards, are all ones that I liked and would actively recommend to others. This had a makings of 9+ show in one aspect, but there were many other aspects which were not up to par in quality for it to reach it's potential.
Parasyte
Gamers
Tower of God
6 - Solid. A lot of shows in this category either had a very good premise but messed up the execution of the story or a plot point quite badly. Also shows, that are generic, however I enjoyed them more than other shows in their genre.
Akame Ga Kill
Kakegurui
Masamune-kun no Revenge
5 - Alright. I liked these shows more than I disliked them. They had enjoyable moments, and usually had one aspect that made it worth watching for the entire runtime. However, not without its flaws, these shows usually have only one strong aspect, a lot of the time it being the comedy aspect of it.
Blue Exorcist
Infinite Stratos
Trinity Seven
4 - Weak. Shows that are 4 and below are usually shows that I didn't feel was the best use of time and regretted watching a bit, or dropped the shows outright. These shows are usually repetitive with the same singular plot device, or use excessive fanservice to make up for their lackluster premise. The opposites of 8s in the fact that there is usually only one thing I like about these anime.
Danmachi
Darwin's Game
Gleipnir
3 - Boring. Nothing new. Sometimes made me fall asleep, because of it's genericity. Entertainment, but of the "watch in the background" kind.
Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni
Kenja no Mago
King's Game
2 - Frustrating. Watching this was a dumpster fire, and it wasn't even enjoyable in any meaningful way. Only reason this isn't a 1 isn't because it isn't physically painful to watch unlike my 1s.
Ore ga Suki nano wa Imouto dakedo Imouto ja Nai
Hand Shakers
Hajimete no Gal
1 - A Failure. This actually hurt to watch. I know stories are meant to be different, but why was this thought ever created? The complete opposite of a masterpiece. I have only one (serious) show in this category.
I think it's more so because of due to how much I've watched and read and how my standards and sense of bias has really changed over time, especially in the recent years.
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.
