I suppose everything was going as planed.
Really ? I don't listen to music when reading that much but I tough that Getter might be a good match for some epic music by the way you described it.
I really hope so. Altought the way you mention me having fun with manga that I consider better is kind of sad. Btw from what series is your new profile pic ?
Heya, it's been a long time. I finished the first 2 installments of getter (btw they were shit), so I decided today to get on Go. So are there any musical recommendations you can give while reading it ? Oh, and dunno if you celebrate it but Happy Halloween!
>Yes, they are.
Ok, I will start reading the series after I finish kyou kara ore wa.
>For Osamu Tezuka, his best works are Black Jack, Hi no Tori (Phoenix) and Buddha.
I heard that Osamu was a big inspiration to Naoki Urusawa and that Black Jack is an inspiration to Monster. Sadly I am not a big fan of Urusawa. But who knows I might check it at some point.
>Read the manga and stay with it, all 009 adaptations were from mediocre to trash.
So another one for my list xD.
>Devilman is a trainwreck, it's extremely bloody, has a lot of naked people and is edgy as fuck. But it's still an amazing read, every-single-volume will make you go holy shit and Jesus Christ that fucking ending.
Dunno man I hate pointless violence. Berserk for exempel at the Golden Age arc isnt just pointless violence but rather has purpose. Hence why I dont like Berserk after the GA arc. On another hand I think my hate for pointless violence is best shown in the fact that Corpse Party is the worst rated anime i have on my list.
>Oh also, I forgot to say, Hideaki Anno (director of Gunbuster and Evangelion) said that the Getter Robo manga is his bible and one of his inspirations along with Devilman to make NGE.
Devilman also inspired Berserk according to Kentaro Miura.
Actually I knew about that, but thanksfor remainding me. Man I really should get to Getter Robo fast. I hope it doesnt disappoint.
Btw, you profile reminds me that I should learn to play mahjong so I can finaly continue some major Fukumoto works. Especially Ten since its hailed as the best work or maybe second best work of his. Fuck, I got spoiled about a major death for the series, I hope it doesnt ruin my experience.
Wow, how did you finish MSG The Origin ? Do you know Japenese or something ?
I bought the first Vertical volume (that crazy expencive one) and I wasnt really fond on how it started. Altought the author is a good artist but the presentation wasnt to keen on me.
>The order they were published.
Getter Robo -> Getter Robo G -> Getter Robo Go -> Shin Getter Robo -> Getter Robo Arc
Again, thanks, altought this might sound stupid but is it necessery to read some of the series you mentioned that are from your point mediocre ? Or is it just enought to know the premise wise what happens ?
>What anime are you talking about?
I actually ment to ask you about every animated installment , but it seems on most part I dont need to bother with it.
>Well, it was the first mecha series that had a combining robot which inspired a lot of things, I think it's popular considering that it was referenced in Lucky Star and was the main inspiration for Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan.
Hence why I was interested in it. I hear that is a pretty crazy watch, jut like or similar to TTGL, so it got on my radar.
>By the way, Getter Robo and G (manga) are mediocre, Go and Shin are fantastic, Arc is ok, too bad the author died before he could finish it.
How about Getter Robo Saga ? From its description it seems to be a condesed form of the series, wich can be a positiv or negativ thing.
>If you want great classic manga to read try Black Jack, Cyborg 009 and Devilman.
Thank for recommendations.
For what ever reason Osamu Tezuka seems more like a brand name, as people just will buy or either read his work no mather the quality. Non the less I will check out some works like Buddha, Appolos Song, Message to Adolf, Ayako and Phoenix. That is primaly what I want to get at. Black Jack seems to have a good anime adaptation, or at least thats what I heard. Oh, while I am at it there is a prequal of Black Jack coming this year or next I dont know correctly. I suppose I can watch it without any prior knowledge ?
Again, Coborg 009 original ower the remake ?
Devilman seems to be just a gore fest that was positivly recaived by the time it was released ,since it was different. I might judge it with cyborg 009 in the up coming cross ower.
Hello, just a random mal user but I wanted just to ask questions regarding the Getter Robo series. Should I just read tham from the publishing date or in any particuluar order ? Is the anime superior to the manga ? And the most importent question does it transcendents times and is not just an old work that might get its affection on a nostalgic basis.
