ππ:I used to hand out 10s like they were candy to a decent out of animes that I watched. But I have made some much-needed renovations to my rating system as I had reached an epiphany that I was inflating my ranks way too damn much. But onto what anime are worthy of me, the most unbiased and truly absolute reviewer of media thinks, they are an anime that has the potential to change me as a person. Whether it be an amazing or relatable character or an extremely resonating plot that keeps me thinking about it for days on end, it really comes down to the fact that the anime is one that I would remember for the rest of my life and it is a piece that I would constantly compare other media to when determining its rating.
π: The benchmark between a 9 and a 10 for me perhaps the largest between ratings on the entire list of them for me. The reason for this is that is because a 9 is an anime that I deem to be absolutely perfect. The plot, the characters, the cinematography, the animation, it is all absolutely blowing me away. However, it is an anime that did not leave as big an impact on me as the 10s. I do have a decent amount of 9s as I believe there to be a lot of shows that are perfect in all of these aspects but they just did not leave me with that depressive feeling I get after finishing a 10/10 show. Everyone understands it.
π: Again, I believe my ratings still to be a bit inflated. This may be why I have so many shows rated 8/10 on my list. I will have to work on fixing that but anyway, onto what makes an 8/10. I believe 8/10 shows to be shows that are almost perfect but they have one small thing that I have a problem with. The 8/10 usually minimally impacts the entertainment a show provides me with so it still leaves me with a good taste in my mouth.
π: A 7 is a pretty self explanatory rating. It's a good show. There are aspects of the show that I do enjoy but there is not really anything that actually blows my mind away. A lot of comedies in general will likely get this rating. I will think a show is funny but I wouldn't laugh out loud at it. That is the embodiment of a 7/10.
π-π:These ratings can both blend together as being average shows. Nothing fantastic about them but nothing really definitively bad about them. I do give a decent amount of 5 and 6s I hope so I can remain more unbiased. The difference between a 6 and 5 for me really depends on personal preference, usually the differences are so miniscual that I think I'm just being pretentious.
π: A 4 is a show that I dislike. I am usually able to get through it all and watch it but sometimes it depends on how my attention span is during this specific time period.
π: A show that I can say I hate. I may be able to get through it but it's a 50/50 chance. A show I may end up thinking I wasted my time on and regret watching later on.
π-π: Whether I give a show a 2 or a 1 fluctuates on my mood. I may be feeling critical or I may be feeling that I should give the show a little break but it truly depends. Anyway, a 2 and 1 are shows that I believe to be appallingly bad. There is virtually nothing good that I can say about the show. I might even think that the anime was purposely made to be this dogshit. I probably wouldn't even finish it.
I don't give an anime a score until I have finished it in case the ending contains a major piece of the plot that is integral to a viewer's whole perception of the piece of media. However, there are special cases for long running shows like One Piece. An anime that is on hold is a show that I have dropped for another show that piqued my interest. A dropped show is an anime that I stopped watching with no intention of picking up but none of them are safe from me wanting to finish out the storyline.
Shows that are on my favorites list are not necessarily 10/10. They are shows that I hold dear to my heart for largely personal reasons. They could be something I associate happy childhood memories with or something that uplifted me when I was feeling down. I acknowledge that some of my favorites have flaws so I don't necessarily believe them to be a 10/10.
I don't know how you found out my account but nice to meet you, I clicked your profile and found your music feature to be interesting. I'm not a music guy, I don't listen to any but man Better Days by NEIKED caught me off guard, I can't stop listening to it and I Just Called (by NEIKED as well).
